Flight diverted after skateboard-waving drunk passenger yelled racial slurs, police say
A Los Angeles-bound flight was diverted to Colorado after a drunk passenger started yelling racist slurs while waving around a skateboard, police said. Breeze Airlines flight MX704 — flying from Norfolk, Virginia to Los Angeles — landed in Grand Junction Airport in Colorado around 11.15 a.m. Wednesday after an intoxicated male passenger 'became agitated, yelling racist slurs at airline staff while waving a skateboard,' Grand Junction Police said. Airline staff put the passenger in restraints twice but he was able to break free both times. He didn't physically assault anyone and no injuries were reported, police said. When the flight touched down, police were called to assist with an 'unruly passenger,' authorities said. The man was then taken into custody at the direction of the FBI and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. David Leroy Carter Jr., 46, of Los Angeles, was arrested, the FBI told The Independent. It's not immediately clear what charges he may face. The U.S. Attorney's Office for Colorado would announce the charges at an appropriate time, the agency said. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police. The Independent has asked the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office for more information. 'The plane was met promptly by local law enforcement officers, who restrained and removed the passenger from the aircraft,' Breeze Airways said in a statement. The flight was delayed in Grand Junction while a new crew was brought in to fly the remaining passengers to LAX, the airline said. The passengers arrived at their final destination around 7.15 p.m. local time. This year, there have been reports of more than 1,000 unruly passengers, according to data from the Federal Aviation Administration. That figure marks a dramatic drop from 2021, when the FAA received a whopping 5,973 reports of unruly passengers.

'My neighbour called police on me after parking in my drive, but I won'
A man whose dispute with a neighbour ended up in court says the neighbour is now 'leaving everybody alone' after a row over a truck parked in the wrong driveway resulted in a call to police. The man says the neighbour was well known to the authorities after a number of complaints about loud music - but it was the neighbour who called police when his truck was covered in dirt. The situation escalated when the complained-about man parked his truck on the homeowner's drive. That ended up in the truck being covered in mud when the homeowner mowed his lawn next to it - and police were called. Taking to Quora, the man said: "My neighbour on one side is a true Ken. He likes to play his raunchy, sexually explicit music loud enough for neighbours within a half mile to hear it plainly. Numerous calls to law enforcement have happened and he has been harassed by the police many times. Another visit from law enforcement was the result. Since he moved it to the edge of the curb and left it there so I had to find a different place to park (he had a space in his driveway), several days later, I had to mow my lawn. I don't have a zero turn mower so, I did the best that I could and mowed my dirt lawn which covered his truck with dust. "He called the cops to complain. They came, talked to him and came over to find out my side of what happened. I asked if it was illegal to mow my lawn. The officer asked me if we were having problems with the neighbour, to which I stated, how many times has there been a complaint against him and how many times has your department sent an officer to his house? The officer explained to me to take him to court for harassment. The officer went back to him and was basically told to move his truck if he didn't want that to happen. "I took him to court to get a restraining order against him." The home owner says the court came down on his side, adding: "The judge told both of us, I have an excellent case against him. While in court, the court documented that I had complaints about his drug use, many incidents of him harassing the neighbourhood." While the neighbour faced no arrest or court action, the homeowner says he has learned his lesson, adding "I guess he finally found out that he was breaking the law and was lucky to not get arrested for it. He's now leaving everybody alone."
