"Wai Ching is a symbol of what's possible when talent meets tenacity," said Malaysian Tower Running Association (MTRA) president Ravinder Singh on the latest episode of the Timesport: On the Beat podcast. "He didn't come from privilege or a sports pipeline. He built his own path. He's both our beacon and our benchmark."Tower running - a gruelling vertical sprint up skyscrapers - strips racing down to its rawest form.
"It's short, intense, and brutally honest," said Ravinder. "There's nowhere to hide. In just 10 or 15 minutes, your heart's racing, your legs are burning, and every step is earned."
Malaysia's growing presence in the sport is set to peak with the hosting of the 2026 World Tower Running Championships, and the upcoming Asian & Oceania Championships at Merdeka 118 on Aug 30 will serve as a "dress rehearsal"."This is the second biggest race in the world this year. All the top names want to try this new building," said Ravinder. "It's a huge moment for us."

KUALA LUMPUR: Political tension between Pakistan and India is said to have led to the Green Shirts pulling out of the Asia Cup in Bihar from Aug 29-Sept 7. Malaysian Hockey Confederation chief executive officer V. Jayanandan said the Asian federation announced on Monday three-time champions Pakistan's withdrawal, and Bangladesh are the replacement. Kota Kinabalu: The Nabba Sabah Bodybuilding Association (Nabba) invites bodybuilders in the State to participate in the Mr Nabba Sabah Championship 2025 which will be held for the first time at the Tenghilan KKD Hall on August 24. Nabba Sabah President Mohammad Jerome Robles said that eight categories will be contested which are open to man and woman athletes such as woman toned figure, men sport physique below 167cm and above 167cm, men bodybuilding above 167cm and master bodybuilding 45 years above. Advertisement He said that the junior category aged 24 years and below will also be contested to give those who are new to the sport an opportunity to compete. The category of men body smart (jeans wear) will also be contested. 'The honourable titles of 'champion of champions', best poser and most aesthetic athlete will be given to the winner who shows the best style and performance on stage. 'The most interesting thing in this competition is that the winner has the opportunity to be selected as a representative in the national level Mr Nabba Malaysia championship which will be held in the peninsula at the end of this year,' he said.
