Brewers hold off Dodgers again for 9th straight win
Shohei Ohtani hit his National League-leading 33rd homer and drove in three runs for the Dodgers. Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas both went deep in the eighth to pull the NL West leaders to 8-7.
But then Ohtani's flyball died on the warning track to end the eighth, and Trevor Megill threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his 23rd save as Los Angeles lost for the ninth time in 11 games.
Milwaukee improved to 5-0 against the defending World Series champions this year, including a three-game sweep at home last week.
Peralta (12-4) wasn't particularly sharp, giving up four runs and five hits in five innings as his ERA rose from 2.66 to 2.85. But the Brewers tacked on three insurance runs to maintain the lead after the All-Star right-hander exited.
After the teams traded four-run rallies in the third, the Brewers took a 5-4 lead on Collins' 363-foot homer over the short right-field wall in the fourth. They made it 6-4 on Caleb Durbin's RBI double in the sixth.
The Dodgers pulled to 6-5 in the sixth when Edman snapped an 0-for-29 skid with a single and Ohtani sliced an RBI single to left.
Milwaukee pushed it to 7-5 in the seventh when Andrew Vaughn hit a two-out RBI single, and 8-5 in the eighth on Ortiz's homer.
Los Angeles starter Emmet Sheehan (1-1) allowed five runs and seven hits in three-plus innings.

Peralta prevented an even bigger rally in the third when, with four runs in, a runner on third and no outs, he struck out Andy Pages, got Michael Conforto to ground out to shortstop with the infield in and retired Edman on a fly to left.

Galt little league team earns trip to Cal Ripken World Series, seeks community help to get there
The eight-and-under Galt all-stars baseball team is getting ready to slide into the Cal Ripken World Series next month all the way in New Jersey. Everyone is pitching in to try and get the Galt All-Stars to the eight under Cal Ripken World Series in New Jersey. This is only the second time in Galt's sports history that a team is headed to the big stage, and parents and coaches are calling on the community to get them there. "Last year we got beat," said Coach Richard Savage. "I didn't think we were regional champs, I hoped that we would be competitive." Savage is using his own personal baseball diamond to teach his all-stars, now under eight regional champions. "But in the end, whoever has their best game on their best day ends up winning, and that's us," Savage said. "Couple coaches joked about it on Sunday, and on Monday, I had an invitation." An invitation to the World Series as Pacific Southwest Regional Champions. "A lot of 'em didn't know there was such thing as world series. They thought that was it, we did it," he said. "We threw it out to the parents and they said all in, and they said all in. Most of 'em said it's a once-in-a-lifetime, and we said all in." A team of 12 is getting the chance to put Galt on the map. "There's a team from China, across the pond, a team from Mexico, it's a world series," he said. But now there's the catch of paying to get to New Jersey. "Nobody thought last week we'd be spending four grand to fly across the country," Savage said. "We all know we're going to have to come out of pocket. We're not asking for a free ride, we just need some help." Savage and coaches calling for the community to pinch hit their hopes and get them to play ball. "Cross country just to play baseball is going to be huge for them," he said. "They fight back, never give up, that's what's great about this group of 8-year-olds." Savage said there will be a fundraising event on Thursday in Galt where people can come out and support the team to make their field of dreams become a reality.
