The rubble has been sitting at the 3500 block of Cornell Drive since a fire destroyed Cornell Meat King Supermarket last October.
Safi Husman Ali, the owner of the market, was supposed to be in court Wednesday for the public nuisance and outdoor storage trial related to the debris pile, but the city said he never showed up.
Neighbors told News Center 7 that they are tired of looking at the rubble.
Fred White lives down the street from the market. He said he wants to see a change.
'I just shake my head,' White said.

Officer shoots man armed with knife, accused of threatening relative, police say
A police officer shot a man who was reportedly armed with a knife and accused of threatening a relative in Ohio on Thursday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Gahanna Police officers responded at 9:39 a.m. to reports of a suicidal person at the 300 block of Lincolnshire Road, according to a social media post. When the officer arrived, he asked 19-year-old Makhi McMillan to exit the home, but McMillan refused to come out. The officer then entered the home and was followed by a second officer. They found McMillan armed with a knife and threatening relatives. He was not responding to the officers' orders, Gahanna Police said on its Facebook page. 'Officers gave over a dozen commands for McMillan to drop his weapon. When he refused, one officer fired his service weapon, striking McMillan,' said Gahanna Police. 'The officer who fired his weapon immediately began administering aid and called for medics, who quickly arrived. McMillan was alert and talking with officers before being transported to an area hospital, where he is in serious condition.' No one else was hurt, and officers recovered a knife from the scene. 5 hospitalized after car submerges into pond, OSHP says
Several people were hospitalized after a vehicle went into a retention pond Thursday night. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Officers, state troopers, and medics responded at around 6:25 p.m. to the area of U.S. 40 and Park West Drive on reports of a vehicle into a pond, according to West Jefferson Police Brandon Smith. Merrill Thompson told our news partner, WBNS-TV in Columbus, that people saw the vehicle traveling westbound in the left lane before slowly driving in the right lane, off the road, and into a pond. The driver reportedly got out of the vehicle, and a trooper rescued a child before the car sank. Lt. Thompson told WBNS that another person was rescued before the car was fully submerged. It is currently unknown when the other two people got out of the vehicle, according to OSHP. 'Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, providing critical assistance with rescue operations and the transportation of victims to area hospitals,' said Chief Smith. Medics transported three people to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus with 'non-life-threatening injuries,' WBNS said. Drugs, cheeseburgers: Raid inside Fulton County Jail reveals contraband operation, officials say
Deputies and detention officers conducted a raid Thursday inside the main jail in northwest Atlanta and uncovered a contraband operation at the jail annex in Union City. Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Mark Winne got exclusive access to the raid. The shakedown was a rapid response to something discovered outside the jail that alarmed the Fulton County Sheriff's Office – a large hole cut in the fence. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'Just doing regular security rounds, I got on the shift and came back here and discovered this,' said a law enforcement official. In all, three holes were found in three levels of fencing surrounding the complex. Chief Jailer Jarrett Gorlin says they found makeshift fishing line in a cell already closed because someone had burned a hole in the window. He said they were using it to reel in the contraband from outside. Gorlin says inmates commonly use wires in lighting fixtures and pieces of metal ripped from the jail interior to melt holes in cell windows. 'More than likely from last night's load, these are cigarettes that they pack in socks, copious amounts of what appears to be marijuana, cell phone, more homemade shanks, and what they use to burn the windows out,' he said. The sheriff's office says the main jail on Rice Street was not the only facility affected. On Wednesday morning, a deputy assisted by Union City police arrested three people laying down by a hole in the fence at the jail's south annex with bolt cutters nearby. They had a bag containing cigarettes, marijuana, cell phones, candy, vapes, phone chargers, cheeseburgers and more.
