Kash'd Out
Kash'd Out, who hail from Orlando but are a nationally known name in the reggae-rock genre, will return to Big Top Live on Friday. Kash'd Out released their latest album "Butter" in 2023, featuring guest appearances from fellow reggae rockers Pepper and rapper Shwayze, and recently put out the single "King of the Coop" with reggae/hip-hop/funk band Tropidelic. Brooklyn MC Jarv — who'll soon head out on tour with Tropidelic and Shwayze, coincidentally, along with playing a show with "'93 'til Infinity" rap group Souls of Mischief — and Treasure Island reggae pop-rockers Seranation will also perform at Big Top Live. 7 p.m. Friday; Big Top Live, 975 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota; $26.78 general admission, VIP sold out as of press time; 941-371-2939; bigtopbrewing.com

After playing Englewoods on Dearborn the night before, Boca Raton blues guitarist/singer-songwriter J.P. Soars and his band the Red Hots will play two more area shows at Bradenton's Cottonmouth and Punta Gorda's Celtic Ray. The group was nominated for four Blues Music Awards in 2022: Band of the Year, B.B. North Coast
The lineup for this year's Sarasota Improv Festival will include the return of "hip-hop improv comedy team" North Coast from New York City. Built around a single suggestion from an audience member, improvised scenes escalate into full-blown hip-hop songs in a show that "blurs the line between comedy show and concert." Other musically inclined improv acts playing the festival include Shitzprobe and HERE: The (Improvised) Musical, both of which create musicals on the spot. 8 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday; Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota; $10 each show, festival passes also available; 941-366-9000; floridastudiotheatre.org

Hostage Situation
Swamp Bass — which, as its name suggests, puts on electronic music concerts in Florida — will return to Charlotte County Fairgrounds with a show headlined by Hostage Situation. The Denver-based trio don ski masks and mainly focus on heavy-hitting dubstep/riddim, though they also incorporate other types of bass music. Other performers will include Star Monster, Stupid Thick, Redakted, DJTOOTANN, URMOM and Infinite Collective B2B, with the event also featuring food vendors, a full bar and a "mechanical alligator." 7 p.m. Saturday; Charlotte County Fairgrounds, 2333 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte; $23.18 and up general admission, VIP options also available; eventbrite.com

Trump says he now 'loves' Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad after learning she's a registered Republican
President Trump on Sunday reacted positively upon learning actress Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, adding that he now finds her viral American Eagle ad campaign to be "fantastic." "She's a registered Republican?" Trump said in response to a reporter's question about his thoughts on her political affiliation. "Oh, now I love her ad." The President added, "You'd be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That's what I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic." The "Euphoria" actress' voter registration has surfaced as she faces backlash for her controversial American Eagle jeans campaign. Since June 2024, she has been registered with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County, the New York Post reported, citing public voter records. Earlier this week, American Eagle released their latest campaign with the actress, titled "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans." Following the launch, there was a mix of reactions on social media. Some critics said the billboard's play on "genes" versus "jeans" echoed eugenics-era slogans, though supporters argued it was a lighthearted marketing gimmick. Some dubbed the campaign as "tone-deaf" due to the alleged racial undertones, while others have praised the actress for killing "woke" advertising. In a promo video posted to the brand's Instagram, the 27-year-old walked toward an AE billboard featuring her and the tagline "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes." Sweeney crossed out "Genes" and replaced it with "Jeans" before walking away. On Friday, Vice President JD Vance had some fun at the expense of the left over its wild response to the American Eagle ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney. "My political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi. That appears to be their actual strategy," Vance joked during Friday's appearance on the "Ruthless" podcast.

John Cena Turns Babyface On WWE SmackDown
The age of John Cena as a heel officially seems to be over. During tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, Cena seemingly turned babyface, in a heartfelt moment with Cody Rhodes in the ring. The show opened tonight with Cena and Rhodes facing off in the ring. Instead of a brawl, though, Cena got surprisingly honest, and thanked Rhodes for forcing their Street Fight to happen. Cena said that for the past five months, he's needed a kick in the ass. He said he realized he flushed everything he believed in 'down the toilet' just to try and make shocking TV. Cena then took a shot at The Rock, saying the people who's idea it was left him 'high and dry.' Now, though, Cena says he wants to take the belt into retirement to make sure people don't forget him. Cena went on to say that he should've listened to Rhodes, and that Cody was being a good friend. Now, no matter who wins at SummerSlam, Cena says the fans will win. A shocked Rhodes then wouldn't let Cena leave before getting two beers and toasting to the new Cena. The move comes as a surprise, and also during a time in which countless rumors about Cody Rhodes potentially turning heel at SummerSlam have swirled. With Cena seemingly a new man, it'll be interesting to see what happens during their match at SummerSlam. READ MORE: The post John Cena Turns Babyface On WWE SmackDown appeared first on Wrestlezone.

Grumpy's Gauntlet part of reimagined back nine at Disney's Magnolia golf course
The back nine at Disney's Magnolia golf course has been completely reimagined as part of a multi-year renovation plan from Arnold Palmer Golf Management. Holes 14-17 are affectionately named 'Grumpy's Gauntlet.' No. 14 is a par 4 with a green sloping away from the center, making approach shots tricky. No. 15, a par 5, measures 597 yards from the back tees. No. 16 is a 456-yard par 4 with water on the left of the green. No. 17 is a par 3 with water on both sides and a multi-sloped green. This stretch has brand new bunkers and brand new greens. This is a facelift for a course, that for over forty years, hosted a season ending stop on the PGA Tour. Jack Nicklaus won the event three times, Tiger Woods won twice in the late nineties, so playing this course means you get to walk in the footsteps of some of the all time greats. Florida residents can save as much as 25% on their tee times, and 20% on golf instruction, and everyone can play year-round on courses that have crowned major winners. Magnolia is rich in history and this revamped back nine stretch is a welcome change. The renovations also include their new 18-hole putting course known as 'The Greatest Green Ever Played.'' The 18-hole putting course features a scorecard and pin locations that change almost daily. It features plenty of undulation, challenging putts, and fast greens that provide a good warm-up before hitting the course, as well as a fun option for kids. The green's new name pays homage to the biographical Walt Disney Pictures sports film, 'The Greatest Game Ever Played,' which is based on the early life of amateur golf champion Francis Ouimet and his surprise victory at the 1913 U.S. Open.
