Black Stripe Alert! Linebacker becomes second freshman of the season to shed black stripe
We have our first black stripe alert of summer camp. Ohio State freshman linebacker Riley Pettijohn has shed his black stripe and has been officially welcomed to the Brotherhood. Hailing from McKinney, Texas, Pettijohn was one of the best linebackers in the nation as a four-star prospect. 247Sports had him rated as the sixth-best linebacker in the country coming out of high school. He would pick the Buckeyes over Texas A&M, Texas, and USC. Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese will be the top two guys in the linebacker unit, with Payton Pierce expected to get some play as well. However, don't be surprised if Pettijohn finds his way onto the field as well as a do-it-all kind of player. As you can see in the pictures, Pettijohn is already built like he's been in the program for a few years. He becomes the eighth player to lose his black stripe this year, and he second freshman to do so behind receiver Quincy Porter, who lost his in early April.
