TL;DR Samsung is thinking about a paid Samsung Health subscription, according to a company executive.
The executive reportedly likened the offering to Fitbit Premium or Garmin Connect Plus.
This news also comes as Samsung inches closer to introducing a paid tier for its Galaxy AI features.
Samsung's Galaxy Watch line offers a variety of health and fitness features, and the company is adding even more via the One UI 8 Watch update. Now, Samsung has confirmed that it's thinking about a subscription offering for these features.
Samsung's head of digital health, Dr Hon Pak, told CNET that it's considering a paid Samsung Health subscription that would be similar to Fitbit Premium or Garmin Connect Plus. The company didn't specify which features would be placed behind a paywall, but the article generally focused on Samsung's One UI 8 Watch features. Samsung's upcoming watch software offers capabilities like Vascular Load metrics, Bedtime Guidance for sleep, antioxidant detection, and more.

The outlet also suggested that new Galaxy Watch models would get the features for free while people with older Galaxy Watches would have to pay to receive them.
Samsung's disclosure also comes almost a year after the company first hinted at the possibility of a Samsung Health subscription. Back at the company's July 2024 Unpacked event, Samsung noted that 'currently available' Samsung Health features won't require a paid subscription, but cautioned that 'different terms may apply' for future features.
This wouldn't be the only Samsung subscription that could debut in 2025, though. Samsung previously said that its Galaxy AI suite of features would be free until the end of 2025. So don't be surprised if the company announces a paid AI tier later this year.

Why AST SpaceMobile Stock Soared Higher Today

AST SpaceMobile is partnering with a massive Indian telecom company. The deal is a massive opportunity to connect users who would otherwise be unable to access a cellular network. 10 stocks we like better than AST SpaceMobile › Shares of AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) jumped on Wednesday, finishing the day up 10.6%. The spike came as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were relatively flat. The satellite communications company announced a new partnership with a massive telecom provider in India. AST SpaceMobile announced a strategic partnership with Vodafone Idea (Vi), an Indian telecom giant with over 1.1 billion mobile subscribers. The deal will combine Vodafone's land-based network with AST's satellite-based technology to connect underserved regions using regular smartphones. India represents a massive growth market with a huge population and a significant number of underserved customers in remote regions. AST's space-based system makes it possible for these populations to access Vodafone's network. The deal is a major opportunity and marks another validation of its technology. This comes just weeks after Jeff Bezos visited the company's headquarters in Texas. The Amazon founder's presence set off a firestorm of rumors about an increased partnership between his space company, Blue Origin, and AST. It seems things are going well for the satellite maker. AST's vision for the future of broadband access is compelling. It's not hard to see the value it can provide. Investors should be aware of the cost of building out its network, despite its recent successes. There is a risk of dilution as the company finances its network. But for those with a high risk tolerance and a longer time horizon, I think AST SpaceMobile is a good pick. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge hits a new record-low price!

Ryan Haines / Android Authority This is, by far, the hottest deal we've seen on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge since its release, which happened just recently, in late May. Currently, you can buy the 512GB version for as low as $969.99. That is actually cheaper than the 256GB model, and it's a record-low price for this device. Buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge with 512GB for just $969.99 ($250 off) This offer is available from Amazon, but there are some things to keep in mind. Maximum savings only apply to the 512GB version in Titanium Silver and Titanium Icyblue. The Titanium Jetblack model costs more. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (512GB) Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (512GB) Ultra-thin. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the thinnest Galaxy S device ever but still packs a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a 200MP main camera. See price at Amazon Save $250.00 This is such a good deal considering the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was so recently released. And today's deal is arguably the most exciting. You can save $250 on the 512GB model, making it even cheaper than the 256GB version. In fact, this is the lowest price we've seen on this phone, regardless of storage space. Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge's main lure is its design. It's super thin at just 5.8mm. That said, the Galaxy S25 Edge has plenty of other great things going for itself. It's a high-end, premium smartphone. We often compare it to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, because of its size and general specs. In some ways, it is actually better, though. It comes with a titanium frame, making the build more similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. It still gets an IP68 rating. Of course, performance doesn't suffer when you're dealing with devices at these price points. This phone comes with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM. It can handle any app or task you throw at it, including premium game titles. Ryan Haines / Android Authority Like all other premium Samsung phones, the Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a large 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X screen with a sharp QHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. All that said, making such a thin phone surely has its sacrifices. In this case, the battery is pretty small at just 3,900mAh. The camera system also doesn't get the same treatment as the main Galaxy S25 line handsets. Go catch this deal while you can! It's a novel phone, and its thin design is really nice for those of us who would rather avoid bulky pockets. It's also one heck of a discount!

New Method to Blend Functions for Soft Electronics

Mixing two or three alkyl-pi liquids can achieve the right combination of functions for soft electronics TSUKUBA, JAPAN - June 18, 2025 ( NEWMEDIAWIRE ) - Soft electronics are an exciting and innovative class of technology that brings together bendable, stretchable semiconducting materials for applications in areas ranging from fashion to healthcare. Researchers have recently developed a new technique to adjust the properties of liquids that could be used to create soft electronics. Room-temperature alkylated-pi molecular liquids (known as alkyl-pi liquids) are an exciting new material that holds great promise for soft electronics. However, one challenge with these fascinating liquids lies in fine-tuning their physical, chemical, and electronic properties – including their ability to interact with light – to achieve the desired functionality. A new study, led by researchers from the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS) in Tsukuba, Japan, has explored a strategy for blending together alkyl-pi liquids to merge their functions homogeneously. The researchers used photoluminescent color tuning to demonstrate how well the process has worked. Their findings have been published in the journal Science and Technology of Advanced Materials. Previous efforts to control the properties of alkyl-pi liquids have taken one of two approaches. The first involves incorporating small amounts of other molecules, such as dyes, into the liquid. 'When modulating function by adding solid dopants, the dopant molecules have poor solubility, leading to insoluble aggregates and inconsistencies in properties such as luminescent color,' says Dr. Takashi Nakanishi of the Research Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics at NIMS. The second approach involves chemically modifying the alkyl-pi liquids. While this can achieve a uniform result, designing and synthesising entirely new molecules is difficult and less time- and cost-effective. In the new study, researchers synthesised three solvent-free alkyl-pi room-temperature liquids that fluoresced red, green, or blue light, and then they blended the liquids together in varying proportions. They successfully created a range of homogeneous liquid blends of colors with no color variation within the material, showing that the alkyl-pi liquids had merged evenly. The team also assessed how well the two liquids had mixed by changing the temperature and studying how the flow of the mixed liquids changed over time at different temperatures. This approach further confirmed that the liquids were successfully blended together. 'The liquid–liquid blending method implemented in this study for alkyl-pi liquids facilitates the production of low-volatility, ink-like materials that exhibit a diverse spectrum of uniform luminescent colors, devoid of any color unevenness,' Dr. Nakanishi says. 'This means it will be possible to apply or coat the desired function with simple operations such as painting, sandwiching, or soaking the liquid materials wherever needed.' The research opens the path to blending alkyl-pi liquids to vary other functions, such as photoconductivity, charge retention, or gas sensing.
