Macdonald bolsters East tennis men
Linking up with the squad and going straight into action is Alan Macdonald, GB veterans team member and current doubles coach to Jamie Murray. Macdonald is a long established county week regular.
Macdonald was initially unavailable but finds himself partnering Sam McNeil after East lost ground in as 3-6 defeat by Warwickshire having won their opening match.
East may have gone down yesterday but it was tantalisingly close with both the Scott Duncan/Euan McIntosh and Lance Nisbet/James MacKinlay combinations losing out in deciding tie-breaks.
Meanwhile, East women were due to face North Wales in Group Four at Cheltenham having added the scalp of Norfolk (5-4) to an opening day victory over Lincolnshire (8-1).
After the first round of matches East led 3-0 and looked to be cruising but it took a comfortable final round win for Sarah McFadyen and Shaylin Holt to get them over the line.

All-rounder Webster re-signs for Warwickshire
Warwickshire have announced Australian international all-rounder Beau Webster will rejoin the club for the 2026 31-year-old has committed his future to the club from the beginning of next season until the last week of joined the club in January, signing a three-month contract to play in the County Championship this debut, Webster top scored for Warwickshire with 85 as his side eased to a five-wicket victory against Yorkshire at Tasmanian-born all-rounder was selected for Australia in the ICC World Test Championship Final against South Africa at Lord's in June and top-scored for the Baggy Greens with playing a further three tests for Australia in their tour of the West Indies, Webster returned to Edgbaston last month and scored an unbeaten century as Warwickshire defeated local rivals Worcestershire by five wickets. Upgraded Kettering sports facilities for future Lionesses opened
An updated sports facility that hopes to encourage more female football players has been officially Sports Park at Thurston Drive in the Northamptonshire town now has an all-weather astroturf pitch, new fencing, LED floodlights, spectator area as well as a refurbished sports supported by Lionesses Futures Fund, the pitch will prioritise access for women and girls through reserved peak-time slots and inclusive changing facilities, the local council pavilion, originally built in the 1980s, will also support the Kettering Town Harriers Athletics Club, which gets a new flood-lit track on the site. The facility will also be open to the wider community, ensuring everyone can benefit, North Northamptonshire Council says. Construction on the improvements began in March 2025 following the award of over £1m in funding from various Benneyworth from North Northamptonshire Council said: "It's very timely to launch our new facilities here at Kettering as the Lionesses celebrate a phenomenal successive win in the 2025 UEFA Euros."Football is a growing sport for women and girls and this is a much-needed resource for the Kettering community."Northamptonshire Football Association chief executive officer Kirsty Clarke said the organisation was "excited to welcome all members of the community" to the sports park. The new pitch at Kettering is one of more than 30 projects across England to benefit from the Lionesses Futures Fund, a £30m cash injection from the government and The FA delivered by the Football Foundation.
