37 Al-Shabaab Militants Killed in Military Operation in Somalia

The Somali Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that elite units of the national army have killed 37 al-Shabaab militants, including senior commanders, in a well-executed military operation in the Lower Juba region.
According to the ministry's official statement, the operation was carried out in a village and was closely coordinated with international partners.
The successful strike is part of a broader counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling al-Shabaab's operational networks across the country.

emphasized
that the Somali National Army remains fully committed to defending the nation, protecting civilians, and securing lasting peace.
It affirmed that such operations highlight the determination and growing capabilities of Somalia's armed forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

Starting at midnight on Monday, the price of 95-octane gasoline at fuel stations across Israel will increase by 0.01 Israeli shekels per liter, bringing the total to 7.15 shekels ($2.12) per liter. This marks the second consecutive monthly increase, as reported in an official ministry statement. According to Globes, a leading Israeli financial newspaper, the latest price adjustment reflects not only fluctuations in oil prices and currency exchange rates, but also the economic aftermath of the military confrontation with Iran. Unlike past oil shocks that triggered sharp surges in global barrel prices, the global oil market reacted with relative moderation this time, the report noted. However, the cumulative financial burden of military operations and heightened security costs is increasingly influencing domestic pricing structures. Traditionally, fuel prices in Israel are calculated at the end of each month based on the average oil prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate between the shekel and the U.S. dollar—currently 3.38 shekels to the dollar. The final price also includes marketing fees, excise tax, and value-added tax (VAT). Inflation Pressures Mount The economic impact of the Iran-Israel conflict continues to ripple through the Israeli economy. Following the outbreak of war in Gaza earlier this year, the Israeli government raised VAT from 17% to 18%, contributing to an upward trend in consumer prices and inflation. 'The inflation crisis is not over,' said Danny Yardeni, Head of Nostro Management at Bank Leumi. 'There's pressure on rents due to the war, and not all airlines have resumed operations. But I believe the end of the crisis has reduced some of the uncertainty.' Yardeni added that the private consumption sector has weakened, with many businesses temporarily closed and households spending less amid the state of emergency. The government, for its part, has been forced to allocate significant funds for compensation, both for homeowners affected by missile strikes and for businesses disrupted during the hostilities. Egyptian FM: No Mideast Stability Without Palestinian Solution
H-Tayea Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt continues to work tirelessly to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that Cairo is engaged in coordinated efforts with Qatar and the United States to halt what he described as 'ongoing crimes and systematic starvation' in the Gaza Strip. These efforts have been sustained for over 21 months since the events of October 7, 2023. In an interview on the ON TV program Kelma Akhira, Abdelatty noted that the current geopolitical context is more favorable for reaching an agreement on Gaza, citing increased recognition among key international actors, especially the US, of Egypt's comprehensive vision. He stressed that peace and stability in the Middle East are impossible without addressing the root of the conflict: the Israeli-Palestinian issue, with the Palestinian cause at its core. 'The message is now clear to Israel: there will be no security or stability without resolving the Palestinian issue and achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace,' he stated, adding that this stance is increasingly echoed by the European Union and other global powers. Responding to a question on recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about a potential Gaza agreement in the coming weeks, Abdel Aaty affirmed the seriousness of American engagement. 'This is true. The January 19 ceasefire agreement in Gaza would not have been possible without the intervention of the current US administration,' he said, pointing to Washington's influence and Egypt's desire for further American involvement. 2 Injured After Explosion Destroys Homes in Philadelphia
