India Vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Match Won't Be Cancelled: Report
Last Updated: The high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 Group A match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 14. The Indian men's cricket team will travel to the United Arab Emirates next month to take part in the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup. In the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian men's cricket team will open their campaign on September 10 in Dubai against the UAE and then take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their second Group A on Sunday, September 14. India last played a T20I match against Pakistan on June 9, 2024, in New York during the T20 World Cup 2024. The organisers of the Asia Cup are confident that the India-Pakistan match in Dubai on September 14 will go ahead despite tensions between the two countries. Many fans in India believe that Men in Blue should not play against Pakistan and instead opt out of the game like India Champions players did during the recently concluded World Championship of Legends. But according to Subhan Ahmed, who is the chief operating officer of the Emirates Cricket Board, the same situation is unlikely to occur in the Asia Cup. 'We can't make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like comparison," Subhan was quoted as saying by The National. 'When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance. That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision of announcing the schedule for the countries. So hopefully we won't be in a situation as there was at the WCL," he added. In the Asia Cup 2025, India and Pakistan can face each other as many as three times if they qualify for the final. Rishabh Pant To Miss Asia Cup 2025, Doubtful For West Indies Tests: Report
Last Updated: The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will be played from September 9 to 28, whereas the two-match Test series between India and the West Indies will start on October 2 in Ahmedabad. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant suffered a foot injury on Day 1 of the fourth India-England Test, which was played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23 to 27. Due to the injury, which he suffered while playing a reverse sweep shot off Chris Woakes' bowling, Pant didn't keep in the Manchester Test and was ruled out of the fifth Test, which was played at The Oval from July 31 to August 4. It was reported last month that Pant will remain out of action for at least six weeks, but according to a report in the Times of India on Thursday (August 7), the 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who last played a T20I for India against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on July 28, 2024, will miss the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup, and he also remains doubtful for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. The Asia Cup 2025 will be played from September 9 to 28 in the UAE, whereas the two-match Test series between India and the West Indies is scheduled to take place between October 2 and 14 in Ahmedabad and Delhi. 'Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant won't require surgery after a toe fracture during the fourth Test in Manchester. However, Pant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks. He will miss the Asia Cup and possibly the West Indies series," the TOI report read. The Indian team won't miss Pant's presence in the Asia Cup 2025 because he isn't India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batter in white-ball cricket, but his absence will be a big setback for India in the two Tests against the West Indies. Before getting ruled out of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Pant played four matches and, with the help of two centuries and three fifties, scored a total of 479 runs. In Pant's absence, Dhruv Jurel got a chance to play in the fifth Test at The Oval from July 31 to August 4, and if Pant misses out, then the Agra-based cricketer will be India's wicketkeeper-batter in the West Indies series as well. India vs Pakistan on September 14 In the Asia Cup 2025, India will open their campaign on September 10 against the UAE in Dubai and then face Pakistan in their second Group A match on September 14. India's last group stage match is scheduled against Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 18. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Shreyas Iyer Likely To Be Picked For Asia Cup 2025 & West Indies Tests: Report
Iyer last played a T20I match for India in December 2023 against Australia, and his last Test match was against the English team in the first week of February 2024. Star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who last played a T20I match for India in December 2023 against Australia and a Test match in the first week of February 2024 against England in Visakhapatnam, is all set to return to India's T20I and Test squad. According to a report in the Times of India on Thursday (August 7), the 30-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai, who was in red-hot form with the bat for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 after joining them for Rs 26.75 crore in the mega auction last year, is likely to earn his place back in India's T20I and Test side when the selectors meet in August to pick the squad for the Asia Cup in the UAE and the two-Test series against the West Indies in India. 'We need Iyer's class and experience in the middle order in all formats. It's something which we missed in England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The selectors are aware that Iyer is an excellent player of spin bowling, which will be crucial in a home season that involves four Tests — two each against the West Indies and South Africa," sources told TOI. Iyer's record in Tests and T20Is Iyer made his T20I debut for India against New Zealand in Delhi on November 1, 2017, but didn't get a chance to bat in that fixture. Since then he has played 51 T20Is for Men in Blue and, with the help of eight half-centuries, amassed a total of 1104 runs. He made his Test debut against New Zealand at Green Park in Kanpur on November 25, 2021, and scored a century (105 runs from 171 balls) in the first innings. In the second innings of that match, he scored 65 runs from 125 balls and bagged the Player of the Match award. Iyer overall has 811 runs to his name in 24 innings of 14 Test matches. Despite losing his place in the Test and T20I teams last year, Iyer was a regular member of the ODI side, and he finished as the highest run-getter in the Champions Trophy 2025. The first Test of the two-match series between India and West Indies will start on October 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the second Test from October 10 to 14. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
