Cambodia Unesco claims denied
In response to a wave of public criticism sparked by social media posts, the ministry issued a detailed clarification on Tuesday. It said Cambodia had not submitted any Thai literary works for registration.
Instead, Phnom Penh had proposed The Royal Ballet of Cambodia, an ancient Cambodian performance art, which Unesco listed as an intangible cultural heritage item of humanity in 2003. The ministry also cited Unesco's 2003 convention, which defines intangible cultural heritage across five domains -- oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, knowledge of nature, and traditional craftsmanship. Literature does not fall within these categories.

This is a solo exhibition by Kongsak Kampakdee, a Thai painter whose work explores the emotional depth of everyday life through subtle, introspective compositions. His practice transforms ordinary moments, quiet conversations, resting figures and still interiors into visual reflections of memory, presence and internal dialogue. In his latest body of work, he transforms ordinary scenes such as resting alone, engaging in casual conversation or navigating moments of illness into intimate visual reflections. Each work serves as an entry in a visual diary, capturing the subtle moods and inner states that accompany daily routines. Rather than straightforward depictions of life's passing moments, his contemplative paintings delve into the emotional undercurrents that shape our lived experience. Working primarily in oil on canvas, the artist employs a soft, muted colour palette of earth tones, greys and gentle blues to evoke stillness and emotional atmosphere. His figurative scenes are tender and restrained, often capturing moments of vulnerability, solitude or quiet connection. With each work, he invites viewers into a space between observation and remembrance, where personal feeling and passing time quietly converge. Richard Koh Fine Art is on the 9th floor of Peterson Building, Sukhumvit, between soi 26 and 28, and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.

Thailand eyes B10bn from foreign film production
The Thai government expects 10 billion baht in full-year revenue from foreign film productions, deputy government spokesperson Sasikan Watthanachan said on Saturday. Data from the Department of Tourism's Thailand Film Office (TFO), covering Jan 1 to June 30, showed 279 foreign film projects shot in Thailand, generating 2.8 billion baht in production revenue. The figures were based on officially permitted projects, positively impacting the Thai film industry and tourism, Ms Sasikan said. The top countries filming in Thailand were India, South Korea, Japan and China, with popular locations including Bangkok, Pathum Thani and Chon Buri. The TFO estimates the total 2025 revenue will reach 10 billion baht, surpassing the initial goal of 7.5 billion baht. Ms Sasikan said the government continues to promote Thailand as a premiere filming destination. Measures include the 30% cash rebate, which the government is also considering extending. Recent films featuring Thailand include " Jurassic World: Rebirth," now in cinemas, and the science-fiction series " Alien: Earth," which will be available on Disney+ on Aug 13 this year. FX Networks recently dropped the second trailer of shot-in-Thailand 'Alien: Earth'. It features Bangkok landscapes, interior scenes and large sets built The Studio Park in Samut Prakan as well as natural beauty of Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga. The government aims to boost its film industry's international profile further through film festivals and promotional campaigns at major industry events like the Cannes Film Market and Berlin International Film Festival.
