An attorney for Grady Egerton filed a motion to withdraw his suggestion of incompetence this week, according to Miami County Common Pleas Court records.
Edgerton previously submitted a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and a suggestion of incompetence to stand trial in July 2024.
At this time, it does not appear that Edgerton has withdrawn his insanity plea.
Court officials confirmed that a competency hearing previously scheduled for April 11 has been canceled.

As News Center 7 previously reported, Egerton is accused of starting a fire at the entrance of Piqua High School on July 1.
Surveillance video showed him throwing a small propane tank at the front doors. Police said he threw a lit match in the trash can, starting a fire that made the tank explode.
In body camera first aired by News Center 7 in July, officers went to his apartment to arrest him on a warrant for arson the night of the fire. In the video, one of their body cameras fell to the ground and caught the moment Egerton pointed a gun at officers.
Police then shot at him, but no one was hit in the gunfire.
Police later said it turned out Egerton had a CO-2 BB gun.
Egerton was arrested and has remained in the Miami County Jail since then.

Gwinnett Co. approves $714K to keep mental health crisis teams on streets

Gwinnett County commissioners unanimously approved more than $700,000 to continue funding the Behavioral Health Unit for another year, ensuring mental health crisis response teams will remain on the streets. The funding supports seven fully staffed teams that pair Gwinnett County Police officers with licensed clinicians to respond to mental health emergencies across the county. 'These teams have been an invaluable resource for our employees who like our residents at times face their own unique challenges,' Gwinnett County Police Chief J.D. McClure said prior to the vote Tuesday. The unit handled over 4,200 crisis-related calls for service in 2024, responding to situations ranging from suicide threats to barricaded individuals. The teams resolve most mental health crises without arrests, instead connecting people with long-term services and support. The agreement with View Point Health runs through June 2026. Atlanta city leaders offer teens fun and safe options for the summer

School is out for the summer in Atlanta, and city leaders are going all out to keep teens out of trouble. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens spoke at the Dunbar Recreation Center about the city's plans to offer teens options to have fun and keep busy this summer. Dickens said that if you cut down on youth crime, all crime goes down. 'And it has. And a big part of that is giving our young people something to do,' Dickens said. The pool and splashpad at the recreation center are now open. Last week, the city opened all of its pools and launched the Summer Youth Employment program. Mika Warner participated in that program and now attends Southern University. The mayor's office has partnered with Atlanta Public Schools to make some of its facilities available so that the next couple of months will be fun and safe. 'How do we best utilize every square foot we have to give these young people everything they deserve?' Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson said. The mayor said more than 3,000 teens will be able to take part in the city's employment program. 'Giving them guidance. Giving them mentorship. And giving them a job for those who want it,' Dickens said.
