A MAN has died after being injured in a late-night drive-by shooting close to a petrol station.
Police rushed to the scene in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, shortly before 10pm last night after receiving reports of a man being seriously injured after being shot close to a BP petrol station.

The victim - believed to be a 50-year-old man living in the local area - was quickly taken to hospital but tragically died there from his injuries.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, police said.
Cops have now opened a murder investigation and are hunting the car it believes was involved in the shooting.
West Yorkshire Police released fresh CCTV images today of the vehicle, which is understood to have been stolen in a burglary in the nearby town of Castleford on August 3.
The Toyota RAV4 is described by officers as being "bluey grey-coloured with a grey trim".
Cops added that it was displaying a cloned numberplate (FV53 FXT) in the footage but warned it could now be driving with different plates.
Setting it apart from other vehicles, the motor believed to be used in the shooting has distinctive bull lights on its roof, above the windshield.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: "A man has lost his life, and it is an absolute priority for us to understand the circumstances of what has taken place and identify anyone who has had any involvement in this incident.
"We understand that the vehicle used in this offence was on false plates and was stolen in a burglary in Castleford on 3 August.
"The vehicle is particularly distinctive because of the bull lights fitted to the vehicle."
DCI Entwistle added: "We are interested in speaking to anyone who believes they have seen this RAV4 following this burglary, around the time of this offence and since.
"The vehicle may now be displaying different plates.
'Motorists who were in the Doncaster Road area last night who have dashcams fitted are also asked to check whether they have captured any footage of this vehicle.
"The driver was driving in the direction of Wakefield before they have turned around near the BP petrol station immediately prior to the shooting and then driven off in the direction they came from.
'We understand the shock and concern that an incident of this nature will cause, particularly given that a firearm has been involved.
"We are dedicating significant resources to this investigation and our neighbourhood policing colleagues are supporting this with an increased presence in the area to provide reassurance to the community.'

The facility, run by Europa-park, is located in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, near the French border. German police said the sick attack took place on Saturday, August 9, L'Alsace reported. After sexually abusing her, the suspect reportedly left her alone in the woods. She was then found by a local passerby around 10pm the same day. The area she was discovered in was about 5km from the water park, and she was only wearing a swimsuit. The suspect is reportedly a 31-year-old Romanian national. He was living in the local region at the time of the attack, reports say. Cops are desperately continuing their manhunt for the suspect. And they put out an appeal for any information that may lead to his arrest. When the tragic story hit the news, she was subject to a barrage of abuse and vicious online trolling accusing her of abandoning her children to save herself. She said every article she read on what happened was accompanied by comments saying she had "left her children to die". "I thought I couldn't be in any more pain, but that hurt the most," she said. Even Jade began to doubt herself and questioned whether she could have done more. But an official inquest later revealed she couldn't have done anything else to save Issac and Sienna. The inquest also heard how the blaze reached around 1000C and the house's fire alarms didn't work with a "perfect storm" of conditions drawing the fire and smoke upwards. It also ruled that TV electrics in Issac's bedroom likely caused the blaze - Jade was paid a settlement by the manufacturer last year. Speaking five years later, Jade smiles at her final memories of her children. She sang Issac his favourite nursery rhymes and read Sienna her favourite story that night as she tucked them into bed. "I'm glad I cuddled them and kissed them before watching them both fall asleep happy that night," she said. Jade was treated in hospital for months but still managed to walk again despite doctors saying it wasn't possible. But mentally she was broken, haunted by flashbacks and suicidal thoughts. Since then, Jade turned to alternative therapies and has retrained as a spiritual healer finding peace in helping others. She has moved house and even won a Woman of Courage award for building a holistic business in the face of adversity. When she went on stage to collect her award, she said she could hear Issac and Sienna cheering "louder than anyone else".

Abdullah, who used an Arabic interpreter, pleaded not guilty to the two alleged offences. Judge Jonathan Fuller KC said: "The matter will be adjourned for trial which will take place on May 5 next year. "You will have to be back here on October 30 for a further case management hearing. "You will be remanded to your bail subject to the same conditions that were imposed at this court in July." His conditional bail, which includes a tagged home curfew, was continued by the judge. Abdullah arrived in Britain as an asylum seeker in 2023 and has been granted permanent leave to remain. The student was arrested at his home in West Drayton, Middlesex, following the alleged assault. Police were called to the public toilet in Undercliff Drive in Bournemouth, at around 1.57am on July 6. Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team, said: 'After extensive enquiries, an 18-year-old man from the West Drayton area of Middlesex was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. "After consulting with our colleagues in the Crown Prosecution Service, charges were authorised in respect of rape and sexual assault. 'I would like to pass on my thanks to the members of the public who have come forward and assisted our investigation. 'The victim is continuing to be supported and has been updated with the developments in the investigation."
