Javier Bardem Slams Global Inaction: 'This Is a 21st-Century Genocide in Gaza'

Egypt Today19-06-2025
Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem delivers a powerful message, calling out Israel's blockade and the silence of world leaders, urging the world not to look away from Gaza.
Bardem turned the spotlight on Gaza, delivering a searing statement:
'While we celebrate our creative passion for fiction with a generous and loving audience, we cannot forget the reality of tens and tens of thousands of children, women, and men killed by Israel's blockade of food, its bombs, and its bullets. And above all, by the political inaction and the impunity rooted in the cowardice of our leaders. They will be remembered as accomplices in this 21st-century genocide — the genocide of the people of Gaza.'
A bold and urgent message that resonated far beyond the screen.

"Zootopia 2" Unveils Trailer

Yara Sameh Disney has dropped the official trailer for "Zootopia 2," the highly anticipated animated sequel to its Oscar-winning 2016 hit. The footage features Quinta Brunson as the voice of a quokka therapist, Dr. Fuzzby, who leads a group therapy session for dysfunctional police partners. Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) attend the session just one week after officially becoming partners. Judy insists their being there is a misunderstanding, but Dr. Fuzzby isn't buying it. The second half of the trailer lays out the sequel's plot, which involves Judy and Nick being handed an important assignment involving a snake that has arrived in Zootopia — even though, according to Nick, no snake has set foot in the city "in forever." In the movie, Judy and Nick's partnership is put to the "ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis," Disney's plot synopsis reads. Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan has joined the sequel's cast as Gary De'Snake, while returning stars include Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Nate Torrence as Clawhauser, Jenny Slate as Bellwether, Alan Tudyk as Duke Weaselton, Tommy Chong as Yax, and Shakira as pop star Gazelle. The original "Zootopia," set in a city where various species of anthropomorphic animals live together, is one of Disney's biggest hit animated movies of the past decade. It grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and won the Academy Award for best animated film. "Zootopia 2" will be Disney's latest animated sequel, hoping to make a splash around the Thanksgiving holiday. It will hit theaters on November 26, 2025. In 2023, "Moana 2" set a record for the biggest Thanksgiving weekend box office opening of all time and went on to sail past the $1 billion mark at the global box office. "Zootopia 2" should allow Disney to bounce back from the failure of its original animated film "Elio," which disappointed at the box office in June with the lowest opening weekend in Pixar history domestically. After "Zootopia 2," Disney has the animated sequels "Toy Story 5" and "Ice Age 6" scheduled for 2026, while "Frozen 3" is set for 2027. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

"Hostel" TV Series Finds Streaming Home

Yara Sameh The 'Hostel' TV series has found a home at Peacock. The TV extension of the horror film franchise is currently in development at the NBCUniversal streamer. The reimagining was previously reported to be in the works in June 2024, but no platform was attached at that time. As originally reported, Paul Giamatti is attached to star in the series, with 'Hostel' mastermind Eli Roth set to write, direct, and executive produce. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have produced all the 'Hostel' films, are also executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps. In the 'Hostel' franchise, innocent tourists are kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Elite Hunting Club operating out of Eastern Europe, with the group's rich clientele paying to torture and murder the tourists. The first film was released in theaters in 2006, with Roth writing, directing, and producing. Roth also wrote, directed, and produced 'Hostel: Part II' in 2007. A third film was released direct to video in 2011, though Roth was not involved in the production. Collectively, the first two films in the franchise grossed nearly $120 million globally despite costing just $4.8 million and $10.2 million respectively to produce. Giamatti is one of the finest actors of his generation. He is a two-time Oscar nominee — first for 'Cinderella Man' and then for 'The Holdovers.' He is also a six-time Golden Globe nominee, winning the award for his work in the HBO series 'John Adams' as well as for the films 'Barney's Vision' and 'The Holdovers.' Giamatti had previously said that he was interested in pursuing more horror roles, naming 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' as his favorite film in the genre. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

James Cameron Affirms Commitment to Directing Avatar 4 & 5 as He Turns 71 Years Old: "I'm Good to Go" and "There's No Reason Not" to Do It

Yara Sameh James Cameron affirmed in a new interview with Empire magazine that he's 'good to go' when it comes to directing 'Avatar 4″ and 'Avatar 5.' The third 'Avatar' movie, officially titled 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' opens in theaters later this year. Cameron originally cast doubt on his 'Avatar' directing future, telling Empire in 2022 that helming the franchise is 'all-consuming' and he might want to 'pass the baton' to another director starting with 'Avatar 4.' But that's no longer the case with the Oscar winner. 'I mean, there's no reason not to,' Cameron said ahead of his 71st birthday in August about directing more 'Avatar' sequels himself. 'I'm healthy, I'm good to go. I'm not going to rule it out. I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that… [but] if I can, I'll just do it.' Cameron noted that he already has a history of passing off his planned directorial efforts to other filmmakers, most notably giving 'Alita: Battle Angel' to Robert Rodriguez. The filmmaker was still closely involved with the film's production, he just wasn't physically in the director's chair. 'He honored what I had written. We worked very collaboratively,' Cameron said about Rodriguez. But Cameron's plan for now is to direct 'Avatar 4' and 'Avatar 5' himself, even with other non-'Avatar' projects taking shape. The filmmaker is attached to adaptations of the books 'Ghost of Hiroshima' and 'The Devils,' which could also impact his ability to direct more 'Avatar' sequels. Two movies Cameron doesn't plan on helming are 'Avatar 6' and 'Avatar 7,' although he told People magazine that he's cracked ideas for both. 'We're fully written through movie five, and I've got ideas for six and seven, although I'll probably be handing the baton on at that point,' Cameron said. 'Mortality catches up. But I mean, we're enjoying what we're doing. We're loving it. We get to work with great people.' For fans unhappy that Cameron's career is dominated by the 'Avatar' franchise, the director had this response at the time: 'People are always asking us, 'So why did you just keep working in the same…' Why did [George] Lucas keep working in the same thing? Why did [Gene] Roddenberry keep working in the same thing? Because when you connect with people, why would you squander that? Why would you start over with something else that might not connect?'. 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' was originally going to arrive in 2024, but Disney delayed it to December 19, 2025. 'Avatar 4' is on track for December 21, 2029, followed by 'Avatar 5' on December 19, 2031. Based on this timeline, the alleged final 'Avatar' movie will premiere 22 years after the original 2009 blockbuster. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
