Can Arthur Smith Be Steelers QB Whisperer? | Steelers Morning Rush
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, and his ability to mentor the team's next quarterback. The Steelers have a plan to trade up to draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, finally addressing the position after several missteps in the aftermath of the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. But is Smith the right guy for the job to develop a rookie quarterback? It's not anything he's ever done before in his two seasons as Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator and three as Atlanta Falcons head coach, but there are some reasons to think that Smith will be capable of molding a talented passer, especially his success in resurrecting the careers of Ryan Tannehill and Justin Fields. So can Smith be the Steelers' quarterback whisperer? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: https://steelersnow.com SN on Twitter: https://twitter.com/pghsteelersnow SN on FB: https://facebook.com/steelersnow SN on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/pghsteelersnow/

Stephen A. Smith Issues Response to Kevin Durant After One-Word Jab
Stephen A. Smith Issues Response to Kevin Durant After One-Word Jab originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant is set to join his fifth franchise in his illustrious career this offseason, as it's expected he will be traded by the team. Advertisement After spending eight seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Durant has been quite involved in player movement. The 15-time All-Star left the Golden State Warriors and asked for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. However, the Suns nearly traded Durant without warning. This time, it wasn't on the all-time forward's terms. Regardless, Durant is typically involved with the drama in the league, whether it be player movement or back-and-forths online. Recently, Durant responded to ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith, and his claim that the NBA will ditch All-Star weekend if the players don't take the USA vs. World game seriously. Advertisement "Dramatic," Durant said of Smith's claim. Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant (35).Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images Adam Silver, ahead of the NBA Finals, revealed that the revised contest will be coming to the league during next year's All-Star weekend. Smith, of course, is going to lean into the theatrics of getting a response from Durant. On ESPN's "First Take," Smith fired back an argument. "It has been egregious. ... The fans have been turned off. Legends of the game have been turned off," Smith argued. "...You can't come on the basketball court and give less effort than you would give in a damn workout in the summer. You can't do that to people." Evidently, Smith isn't wrong in the fact that fewer and fewer fans are caring about the All-Star Game. There's no excitement to it. It hasn't been a good product. Advertisement The NBA has aimed to make changes to the event to make it more intriguing. They haven't worked. Something big needs to change. The idea of the USA vs. World game comes after the NHL's strong "Four Nations Faceoff" results, which saw many non-hockey fans tuned into the games. The passion and pride behind the games were insane. Evidently, it's hard to assume the NBA will see the same results. It'd be nice for the event to be a hit, especially for Silver, as the commissioner has tried many tweaks. Ex-Cowboys Star Defends Pickens After Aaron Rodgers Signing
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Pittsburgh Steelers will see if Aaron Rodgers has any gas left in the tank. On Thursday, it was revealed that Rodgers has agreed to terms on a one-year deal to stay in the AFC. The move comes after months of waiting to see where Rodgers could end up next. Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant found the Steelers' Rodgers acquisition interesting, considering the narrative being built around Dallas' recently acquired wide receiver, George Pickens. It started with media personality "J Tuck" on social media. "Imagine moving on from George Pickens thinking he was a locker room distraction only to end up with Aaron Rodgers as your QB," Tuck wrote on X. Bryant then quoted the original post with his own commentary. "You said it," the former star wideout said, with a crying laughing emoji. You said it 😂 — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) June 5, 2025 Pickens, a former second-round pick for the Steelers, starred during his three-year run in Pittsburgh. With 48 appearances, he caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns. At a point, it was becoming clear that Pickens' road in Pittsburgh was getting bumpy. Eventually, the Steelers and the Cowboys got on the phone, talked shop, and made a deal. The Steelers sent the star wide receiver alongside a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. Outside of Cowboys Nation, there was a lot of discussion about Pickens being a problem. At first, the young wideout suggested that the Steelers had made a deal without him pushing for it. However, Pickens recently stated that he requested a change. Clearly, it was granted. Either way, the public didn't rush to change their opinion on Pickens, but many see the Rodgers acquisition as ironic. Since his MVP-winning days with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers has struggled to maintain a healthy relationship with his teams. He didn't leave the Packers' organization on a high note, and his run with the New York Jets soured rather quickly. In 2023, Rodgers was welcomed to New York with open arms. The Jets believed the 2021 NFL MVP would lead them to great heights, before watching him go down with a season-ending injury after throwing just one pass in 2023. Rodgers returned for a 17-game showing in 2024, but it didn't go the way New York had hoped. Rodgers threw for nearly 4,000 yards and had a 28-11 TD-INT ratio, but the Jets won just five games. A lot of frustration boiled over, and the Jets eventually released the quarterback in March. Will drama be brought to Pittsburgh with Rodgers in the building? Only time will tell. The same can be said about Bryant's Cowboys as well, as Pickens embraces a fresh start in Dallas.
