Do Steelers Have a Defense Scheme Fix?

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the Steelers' defensive coverage options in the secondary and how a change in the type of zone defense they call could be beneficial. The Steelers have always been a team that primarily runs Cover 3, prioritizing stopping the run over softer zone coverages like Cover 2. But there is another option that is becoming more popular around the NFL that could be a fit for the Steelers, and that's Cover 4 or quarters. Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta:

Are the Steelers Trying to Be the Ravens?

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the Steelers offseason, including Monday's big trade with the Miami Dolphins, and how much they're focused on trying to beat -- or be -- the Baltimore Ravens. The 2025 season fell apart for Pittsburgh, thanks to a five-game losing streak to close the season that included two losses to the Ravens. The latter, in the playoffs, involved Baltimore racking up nearly 300 rushing yards against the Steelers defense. So how much of what Omar Khan is doing this offseason has been about trying to reverse the trend against the Ravens, and possibly even taking some of Baltimore's ideas for themselves? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta:

Steelers Trade Puts Pressure on Arthur Smith

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's how the trade to acquire tight end Jonnu Smith has continued an offseason-long trend of catering to the personality and scheme of offensive coordinator Arthur Smith -- putting the pressure on him to increase the performance of his offense. The Steelers acquired Smith, making him the third former Smith protege on the current roster, joining Cordarrelle Patterson and Scotty Miller. In addition to players that have played for Smith before, the Steelers have also made moves to help better fit his scheme, grabbing Aaron Rodgers instead of Russell Wilson and drafting Kaleb Johnson instead of keeping Najee Harris. Smith did a good job last year in his first season as the Steelers offensive coordinator, but the unprecedented level of service to his scheme and personality fit this offseason definitely ramps up the pressure to be an above-average offense in 2025. Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta:

Do Steelers Have a Cornerback Logjam?

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's trying to project the roster battles in the Steelers secondary. With the addition of Jalen Ramsey, the Steelers have seven cornerbacks who finished the 2024 season on an NFL roster, and they also have seventh-round draft pick Donte Kent in competition for a roster spot. Is seven too many, and does it matter where Ramsey plays? What about the suddenly-thin free safety spot after the trade of Minkah Fitzpatrick? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta:

Is Jalen Ramsey a Fit for Steelers? Steelers Morning Rush Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's whether the Steelers should pursue cornerback Jalen Ramsey as a trade option. The Miami Dolphins are trading Ramsey, the 30-year-old, seven-time Pro Bowler, in what is apparently a mutual decision. The Steelers are already set at outside corberback with Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr. in the fold. They could use Ramsey as an option in the slot, where he would certainly be an upgrade over Beanie Bishop. But he is due $21.1 million over the rest of the 2025 season -- a hefty sum for any cornerback, let alone one playing in the slot -- and it's unlikely that a move to a more phyiscally demanding position at 30 years old would be the thing that would please the disgruntled Dolphins corner. Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta: 6:42 Now Playing Paused Ad Playing
