
Two Holy Mosques welcome over 122 million visitors in Ramadan

MAKKAH (WAM)The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque reported a total of 122,286,712 worshippers during Ramadan 1446 AH, with 16,558,241 performing Umrah, 75,573,928 praying at the Grand Mosque, and 30,154,543 visiting the Prophet's Mosque.According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), to efficiently manage the massive crowds, the authority utilised advanced technology, employing sensor readers at the main entrances of the Grand Mosque. This technology enables real-time monitoring of crowd flow, enhancing operational efficiency and improving crowd management in collaboration with relevant authorities.

Saudi Arabia receives over 1.6 million Hajj pilgrims in 2025
Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics has reported that a total of 1,673,230 pilgrims performed the Hajj pilgrimage this year, which corresponds to the Islamic year 1446 AH. Out of this number, 1,506,576 pilgrims came from other countries through various air, land, and sea entry points. The remaining 166,654 pilgrims were from within Saudi Arabia, including Saudi citizens and foreign residents. The report also broke down the pilgrims by gender. A total of 877,841 male pilgrims and 795,389 female pilgrims completed the Hajj rituals. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and is required at least once in a lifetime for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to do so. The Islamic calendar year 1446 AH roughly corresponds to 2025 in the Gregorian calendar.

Sharjah Ruler performs Eid Al-Adha prayer at Sharjah Mosque
SHARJAH (WAM) His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, performed the Eid Al-Adha prayer, on Friday, at Sharjah Mosque. Performing the prayer alongside His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan were H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and a number of Sheikhs and senior officials. The Eid Al Adha sermon was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Salem Al Doubi, who reflected on the profound impact and value of sincerity—both spiritually and nationally. He also highlighted the importance of sincerity to one's nation—demonstrated through swift service, upholding its reputation, abiding by its laws, and cherishing its customs and traditions. Sheikh Salem Al Doubi prayed that God Almighty continue to bestow joyful occasions upon the United Arab Emirates, granting it ongoing peace and security. He also prayed for the wise leadership, the people of the UAE, and all residents, asking God to bless them with good health and well-being.
