Mstyslav Chernov's film '2,000 Meters to Andriivka' wins award at documentary film festival in Denmark
Ukrainian director and journalist Mstyslav Chernov's documentary 2,000 Meters to Andriivka received the F:ACT Award at Denmark's CPH:DOX documentary film festival, organizers announced on March 29.
The jury praised the film as a powerful portrayal of war and a strong reflection on loss and resilience.
The documentary follows Ukraine's 2023 counteroffensive, as Chernov embeds with a platoon from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. Their mission was to liberate Andriivka, a strategically important village in Donetsk Oblast. Surrounded by mines, the village is accessible only through a narrow stretch of forest, making the battle particularly grueling.
"Ultimately we give the F:ACT award to 2,000 Meters to Andriivka not just because it's a conflict on our doorstep, but because it's a masterpiece in filmmaking: a haunting, multi-layered portrayal of war comparable to All Quiet on the Western Front,' the jury stated.
'But this is not the First World War, it's today. An artist amid bloodshed brings the reality home, and makes an anti-war film that forces us to reflect on the dignity of each human life lost."
Chernov, an acclaimed war correspondent and documentary filmmaker, worked on the project with Associated Press photographer Oleksandr Babienko. The film was produced by Michelle Misner and Rainey Aronson-Rath, both of whom won an Oscar for "20 Days in Mariupol."
His previous film, 20 Days in Mariupol, won the Oscar for Best Documentary at the 96th Academy Awards last March.
The film captures the Russian siege of Mariupol in the early weeks of the full-scale invasion, offering a firsthand account from Chernov and his team. It is the first Ukrainian-directed film to ever receive an Oscar.

Hollywood star's Aussie hideaway for sale
A luxurious property hidden away on the Gold Coast hinterland, and a favourite of Hollywood star Margot Robbie, has hit the market. Known as The Orchard, the 7.4 acre property surrounded by rainforest and national park is a secluded hide-out for the Oscar nominated actor when she returns to her Gold Coast hometown. Coastal real estate agent Ed Cherry said Robbie had visited the property, located down the road from where she grew up, multiple times. 'It is one of her favourites,' he told NewsWire. 'She loves that it's got that Byron Bay feel, but it's in the middle of Tallebudgera Valley so it's central to the Gold Coast, airport, the amenities down at Currumbin Creek and everything you want to do in the area,' he said. 'It has a hobby farm feel, but it's very private with a big gate at the front, which you enter over a concrete bridge. 'The property is surrounded by a creek then backs onto the Tallebudgera hinterland with old growth forest and national park behind you.' The private and peaceful sanctuary is described as a haven for people seeking wellness and tranquility with modern luxury. The property has more than 30 fruit and nut trees and a veggie garden to enjoy as you soak up the beauty of nature, as well as an in ground pool, cabana and other amenities. 'It's got a really calming wellness feel to it,' Mr Cherry said. 'When you enter the property you see it's had extensive renovations that have been done, it looks like an old Queenslander, but it has a very modern cottage feel inside. 'It's everything you feel from a modern home or a new apartment in a cottage-style home on the hinterland.' The property is open to offers over $4.9 million Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data

‘Meet the Parents 4' Reveals Oscar-Nominee Is Joining Cast
Ariana Grande's movie career is already, ahem, Defying Gravity. The Wicked star has already started prepping for a new hit film, Meet the Parents 4, alongside none other than Hollywood legends Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. The movie is set to hit the big screen on Nov. 25, 2026, only four days after Grande's second Wicked film arrives in theaters. Meet the Parents 4 will be the newest installment in Universal's classic comedy films. The first in the series, which came out in 2000, featured Ben Stiller as a nurse who faced hilarious mayhem while visiting his girlfriend's parents (Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner). Teri Polo stars as Stiller's girlfriend in the film, and Owen Wilson stars as her ex-boyfriend. The flick was an immediate hit and two follow-up movies were promptly rolled out in 2004 and 2010. Polo and Danner are expected to return alongside Stiller and De Niro, but the deals have yet to close, reported The Hollywood Reporter. In the upcoming installment, the son of Stiller and Polo gets engaged to an aggressive and dominating woman who isn't a great match. Grande allegedly plays this fiancée. Grande, who largely kicked off her career on Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious before excelling as a pop star, recently forayed back into acting in this year's record-breaking musical remake of Wicked. She earned an Oscar nomination for her role, along with Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA nominations for best support actress. The movie earned almost $800 million worldwide. Although casting directors have been tripping over each other to book her, she's declined several projects from Universal, Sony and Warner Bros., including one that would have given her the ability to pick her co-star. But Meet the Parents 4 finally caught her eye. When Meet the Parents first came out, it grossed over $330 million in the global box office, a number that would today be much higher. It also gave rise to another line of comedy sensations: Meet the Fockers with Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand, and Little Fockers, which culminated in a total franchise gross of $1.13 billion globally. John Hamburg, who wrote all three existing films, will also write the screenplay for the new movie. It will be produced through Jane Rosenthal and De Niro's Tribeca Productions and through Jay Roach's Delirious Media. Roach directed the first three films. Stiller will also produce with John Lester via Red Hour Films and Hamburg will produce through Particular Pictures. The project will be overseen by Jacqueline Garell and Matt Reilly.
