JC Mateo defeats R-Truth with relative ease
R-Truth, who lost to John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event, confronted JC Mateo and Solo Sikoa backstage on SmackDown. After this, he asked the blue brand's general manager Nick Aldis, to grant him a match with the former NJPW star. The match itself proved to be a one-sided affair as JC Mateo dominated the vast majority of it. Truth, to his credit, got in some offence and even hit Mateo with a 5-knuckle shuffle.

However, JC Mateo eventually overpowered the 53-year-old and hit him with a 'Tour of the Islands' and got the pin. Thereafter, the former Jeff Cobb and Solo Sikoa assaulted Truth. Following this, Jimmy Uso came out to make the save. JC Mateo soon attacked him and sent a message to the tag team specialist.

On Virat Kohli Allegedly 'Insulting' Musheer Khan, Ex India Star's Blunt Justification

The Qualifier 1 match of IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was a completely one-sided contest as Rajat Patidar and co registered an eight-wicket win and marched into the final. Apart from a dominating game, the match also had a controversial moment after RCB star batter Virat Kohli allegedly tried to sledge PBKS debutant Musheer Khan. Facing a batting collapse, PBKS were forced to bring-in Musheer as an impact-sub in the first innings, which also became his first IPL appearance. However, when he came to bat, Kohli, who was placed at the first slip, was heard saying, "Yeh paani pilata hai (He serves water)." Kohli saying "Ye to Pani pilata hai" to young Musheer Khan. Kohli is such a creep and shameless person. — RISHIT SHARMA (@Rishit_264) May 29, 2025 This moment from the game went viral on social media as the fans lashed out at Kohli for trying to insult a young player. However, former India pacer Atul Wassan came to Kohli's aide by stating the competitive nature of the star batter. "Virat has a competitive nature; even if he plays with his own baby, he would like to win. One should not feel bad about it. When you are playing the game, consider yourself equal, and don't expect an inch, nor give an inch," Wassan said on the OTTplay 'Bails and Banter' show. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. If someone is doing it within the line, it's fine. Sledging is a mixture of sarcasm, wit and being obnoxious," he added. Wassan further stated that sledging at some extent should be allowed as the players should be free to express themselves. "Of course, there should be no physical confrontation, but certain gestures should not be misinterpreted, which entirely depends on the match officials. You have to let people express themselves within the limits," said Wassan. Talking about the incident, when Musheer arrived on the field to bat, Virat was spotted calling him a 'water-boy', who had come in to deliver water to his teammates a few overs ago. The act from the RCB stalwart triggered a huge debate on social media. A section of fans suggested that Kohli was 'abusing' the Punjab Kings youngster by calling him a 'water boy'. The RCB icon's fans defended him, highlighting the fact that Kohli had gifted Musheer one of his bats earlier in the season. Some also pointed out the fact that Musheer idolises Virat as a batter.

Voice of cricket

"NERVOUS," was how Pragyan Ojha put it. Manvinder Bisla had used that same word. The likes of Sarandeep Singh and Sourabh Kumar weren't too sure if they belonged when they were given gigs. These days, they are all key voices in the host broadcaster's attempt to make the Indian Premier League (IPL) more inclusive by adding commentary feeds in multiple regional languages including Bhojpuri, Kannada and Punjabi. These commentators -- known as 'talent' -- have either played for the national team in a previous cricket innings or are well known as coaches. But while it gets them through the door, they are also subject to tests before JioStar, who have shelled out a pretty penny to broadcast the IPL, give them gigs. Siddharth Sharma, the content lead (sports), narrates a story. "We just don't want to gloss over a glorious shot (although) that's one of doing it (commentary)," he tells this daily. But if we can engage at a deeper level and make this hero meaningful for you... take the example of (Vaibhav) Suryavanshi. One of his coaches is part of my Bhojpuri commentary. He comes from Samastipur. So, all of this, We have got stories that we should fulfil the fans regardless of where he joins us from. That's something we have worked on, to create that ecosystem and environment that tells the richest story. Some of them are consummate storytellers, some of them we work with." To first see if they are natural storytellers, there's a video clip sent to them. Kumar, for example, was sent a video of the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings, the game where RP Singh no-balled giving CSK the win. Here's Kumar. "What do we say when the batter is not still? What do English or Hindi commentators say? We say this because we are professional coaches and we understand the game. But we say it like there are 2-3 people sitting at home and discussing the game... it's infotainment." That infotainment is tangible because they have worked with their respective producers to come up with pop culture references and cultural nuances important to that region. "We don't want it to be another Hindi commentary," Sharma says. "The producers come from those regions, they can read and write (for example, a Kannada feed producer is literate in Kannada and so on). They have a background in pop culture."
