Masyair Cleanliness Campaign continues this Haj season
MAKKAH: The Masyair Cleanliness Campaign, introduced in 2017 for Malaysian pilgrims, will continue this Haj season as an initiative to educate pilgrims to maintain the cleanliness of the Masyair area, which includes Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, said the excellent record of Malaysian pilgrims in maintaining the cleanliness of the masyair area over the past few years received continuous recognition from the Saudi Arabian government, particularly the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
'In fact, the Saudi Arabia Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Fawzan Al-Rabiah, in one of his speeches, stated that if all pilgrims in the world behaved like Malaysian pilgrims, he could sleep peacefully,' he said at a programme with haj pilgrims at the Abraj Al Tayseer Accommodation Building and officiating the Masyair Cleanliness Programme 1446H/2025M, here, today.
He said Tawfiq Fawzan's statement reflected the Saudi Arabian government's trust and appreciation for the continuous efforts by Tabung Haji (TH), together with Malaysian pilgrims, in maintaining the cleanliness of the masyair area during the haj pilgrimage.
'This (cleanliness) campaign is not merely an awareness initiative, but a model that other countries can emulate. TH hopes that this year, Malaysian pilgrims will uphold this outstanding record and once again set the finest example for pilgrims from around the world,' he said.
Mohd Na'im said this year's campaign was also extended to all seven Malaysian Haj Accommodation Buildings (BPJH) in the Holy Land, including the new pilgrim accommodation building at Abraj Al Tayseer.
'This is a reflection of the discipline, attitude and culture of Malaysian haj pilgrims that we are proud of. We want the 2025 pilgrims to maintain the excellent record achieved previously, where when our pilgrims leave Masyair, the area will be clean, setting an example that can be emulated by pilgrims from other countries,' he said

Pearly-Thinaah stay sharp with commanding opening win in Jakarta
KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 4 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah showed no signs of fatigue as they kicked off their fourth consecutive week of competition with a confident first-round victory at the Indonesia Open on Wednesday. Pearly-Thinaah barely broke a sweat against world No. 15 Sung Shuo Yun-Yu Chien Hui of Taiwan, sealing a 21-16, 21-17 win in just 41 minutes at Istora Senayan in Jakarta. The match marked their second win over the Taiwanese pair, having also beaten them in the opening round of the same tournament last year. Despite the result, Thinaah admitted that they weren't fully satisfied with their performance. "To be honest, we're not really happy with today's performance," she said. "It's a new court for us — this year it's a Victor court and the shuttle feels a bit different from what we expected. "But we tried to do what we could, and we also discussed it among ourselves and with the coaches. Tomorrow, we'll be more prepared and aim to do better." Police receive seven reports after 80 haj pilgrims stranded at KLIA
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving reports on the 80 haj pilgrims stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after being duped with the offer to perform haj using Mujamalah visas. Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said so far, seven reports have been lodged by the affected individuals. 'I can confirm that we have received the reports, and the case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 511 of the Penal Code,' he said in a statement today. Yesterday, the media reported that around 80 individuals preparing to depart for the Haj were stopped by a special task force at KLIA, reportedly after their travel agency had arranged for them to travel using tourist visas instead of the promised Mujamalah visas. The pilgrims reportedly failed to obtain the Mujamalah visa due to a technical issue with the Nusuk system. However, the travel agency allegedly insisted on flying them out using tourist visas, resulting in them being denied departure. The Mujamalah visa is a special visa issued by the government of Saudi Arabia to certain individuals or groups and is not part of the official Haj quota allocated to Malaysia.
