Stewart Lee announces first Irish tour in 14 years
His latest tour will hit venues across the country next year, including dates in Dublin, Derry, Waterford and Cork. English comedian Stewart Lee has announced his first Irish tour in 14 years. The Wellington-native will bring his new show, Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf, to venues across the country in June 2026, starting at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on June 1. The tour will also stop in Drogheda's Tommy Leddy Theatre on June 3, Derry's Millennium Forum on June 4, Wexford's National Opera House on June 5, Cork's Opera House on June 7, and Waterford's Theatre Royal on June 10. In his latest show, Lee shares the stage 'with a tough-talking werewolf comedian from the dark forests of North America who hates humanity.' 'It's fourteen years since I last toured Ireland,' the stand-up comedian said. 'During the same period away from Ireland, I've discovered slapstick, dressing up, and musical parody, which feature in this show alongside my usual dour social commentary and self-loathing.' Lee is known as the co-writer and co-director of Jerry Springer: The Opera, which won four Laurence Olivier Awards in 2004, including Best New Musical. He later won British Comedy Awards for Best Male Television Comic and Best Comedy Entertainment Programme in 2011 for his BBC series Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Speaking to Hot Press in 2012, Lee said he had been inspired by Irish stand-ups early in his career. 'When I was starting out, all the comics that I liked were Irish comics doing stories rather than gags. The best people at that were the Irish ones,' he said. Tickets for Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf in Dublin's 3Olympia go on sale Wednesday, August 20, at 10 am via Ticketmaster.

CBS Sports projects which bowl game Notre Dame will play in later this year
As the season gets closer and closer to kickoff, we are starting to see where many believe that Notre Dame will end up playing the postseason. CBS Sports announced its 2025 college football bowl projections on Thursday, and they have the Irish returning to the College Football Playoff to face, wait for it, the LSU Tigers. This would be a matchup of the ages, as it would pit the former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, against the program that he believed didn't have what it takes to compete for a title. Well, his idea was proved wrong last year, as the Irish made it all the way to the CFP championship game, while his Tigers weren't even good enough to make the field. Brad Crawford, who compiled the list, has Notre Dame as the No. 5 seed and LSU as the last team to make the field. Not only would the Irish get a chance to knock off Kelly and the Tigers, but they'd have to come to South Bend to do it. If Notre Dame were to advance to the second-round, they'd be in line to take on No. 4 Ohio State, a team that the Irish sorely want to see again and defeat. They've faced the Buckeyes each of the last three seasons, only to fall each time. Crawford's other top three teams are Texas, Penn State and Clemson, as he sees each of the earning the coveted first-round bye. It didn't work out well for any of those teams in the first year of the 12-team CFP field, as every one of them lost their initial game. As for the rest of the field, he's got No. 9 Miami visiting No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 6 Alabama hosting No. 11 Boise State, and No. 7 Georgia taking on No. 10 Oregon in Athens. Back to the Irish, Crawford has them going 11-1 on the year, with the loss coming to either Texas A&M or the Hurricanes. It's pretty safe to say many in Irish Nation would take that result, with a return trip to the CFP following what would be a very successful regular season. FIW Roundtable: Which Notre Dame offensive player we believe breaks out this fall
With Notre Dame football's fall camp underway, it's pretty easy to look ahead to what could be in store for the Irish in 2025. They'll enter the year with massive expectations, many pundits expecting another berth into the College Football Playoff. The schedule is front loaded, opening on road against Miami, then hosting Texas A&M, both ranked opponents. For Notre Dame to make a return trip to the CFP, they'll need some players to step up and fill voids that were stalwarts last year. The Fighting Irish Wire crew of Tim Healey, Dave Miller and Michael Chen will make their best guesses over the course of the next few weeks as to what this Notre Dame season will show us. Let's start off with who we believe will be a breakout player on offense. Tim Healey - contributor Is it a breakout if Jeremiyah Love does what he did last year, and then some? OK, fine, I guess I have to pick someone who wasn't one of last year's stars. I'm inclined to think that whoever wins the quarterback battle might be the breakout star. Easy answer, I know, but both CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey could be that guy. Carr seems to pass the eye test, and Minchey has knowledge of the offense and running ability. Another possible breakout is wide receiver Jaden Greathouse. He had a solid year last year, but if the new passer is a success, he could take a leap forward. If he does, that would be huge. Notre Dame's passing game wasn't exactly bad last year, but it wasn't as consistently effective as the ground game. If the passing game becomes as much of a threat as the running game, the Irish might be even better in 2025 than in 2024 which is why I'm taking Greathouse. Dave Miller - contributor There probably weren't a ton of college football observers who thought Kenny Minchey would push CJ Carr for the starting quarterback job, but here we are. Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman is expected to decide on a starter coming out of Notre Dame's scrimmage this weekend, and I still ultimately think Carr will be the guy and have success with his surrounding playmakers in this offense. But picking a quarterback is the easy way out. So I'm also going with Greathouse, who finished the 2024 season with two consecutive 100-yard receiving games and three touchdowns. The rising junior shined during the College Football Playoff run, and he has a chance to be a matchup nightmare if he's lined up in the slot. Bringing in Virginia transfer Malachi Fields to the receiving room was huge for this offense, but he's already a proven commodity. Greathouse has a chance to become a household name starting with the season opener at Miami. Michael Chen - site lead While I think that Greathouse is a great pick to breakout, he just seems like the obvious choice to me, so I'm staying away from picking him. There are more than a few others that I considered, like offensive lineman Will Black (too young), wide receiver Will Pauling (new to scheme), running back Aneyas Williams (not enough playing time), but eventually settled on offensive lineman Guerby Lambert. Isn't not a sexy choice, but it's looking like he's playing himself into a starting spot after entering the program as one of the top offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle. Lambert got his feet wet last fall, and while it was a redshirt year, it was put to good use. Getting on the field during the CFP was great, even though it was just on special teams. While offensive lineman coach Joe Rudolph hasn't named his starters yet, the chip above shows him with the starting group. There isn't as much experience with this group as there was last year, and someone will have to step up with the injury to Charles Jagusah. My bet is on Lambert.
