Windows 11's useful Snipping Tool is reportedly going to get an exciting new feature to make your life easier. Basic apps are not to be underestimated, especially when those are getting frankly useful and powerful new features. Windows 11's Snipping Tool is one such basic app, but it's about to get super powerful (and fun!) with this new feature that's currently being tested. Reportedly, Snipping Tool will be getting the ability to record GIFs. Right now, this feature has not been officially announced by Microsoft, but it's been spotted in the wild by X users @phantomofearth.
First look at a new Snipping Tool feature coming soon to Windows 11: the ability to quickly create GIFs from screen recordings!
You'll get options to export/copy the GIF, with a choice between low and high quality. This menu can also be accessed with a keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+G. pic.twitter.com/kBsvkHMDtK — phantomofearth (@phantomofearth) May 22, 2025 Basically, the feature may allow you to record a GIF and then copy and export the file both in low quality or high quality. The CTRL+G shortcut may help you jump into GIF creation and editing. This shortcut is not to be confused with Windows+G, which opens the Game Bar. According to the leak, you may be able to make GIFs from your screen recordings. Windows 11's Snipping Tool can already record videos, but it captures those as MP4 video files. On the other hand, GIFs are lightweight files that can be embedded easily or quickly shared in apps and websites. These files don't take a bunch of space (unlike a traditional MP4 video) and are ideal for quick expressiveness.
Microsoft has given quite a lot of love to its Snipping Tool recently. Recently, a huge announcement by the tech giant with a lot of new generative-AI-powered features that will bring some great things to Snipping Tool. Like, for example, the powers to scan your screen with AI for a tightly cropped capture and the ability to use a text extractor and also a color picker straight from the Snipping Tool. There are also a bunch of other features in testing, including support for emojis, Draw & Hold which would allow you to convert strokes into shapes, and also the ability to detect QR codes.

Microsoft is done being subtle – this new tool screams "upgrade now"

– Microsoft, May 2025 sign up for the public preview To use the tool, systems need to be Microsoft Entra joined (Windows 10 or 11). Also, organizations interested in trying it need toand have an active Microsoft Intune test tenant plus Intune service administrator the October end-of-support deadline looming, I think Microsoft clearly hopes this new tool helps ease the transition for businesses. But even with these improvements, it is unclear if that will be enough. As of April 2025, Windows 10 still holds a 52.9% share, while Windows 11 trails behind at 43.7%, even though the gap has been narrowing.

iPhone 17 leak corroborates a display glow-up fans have waited years for

The iPhone 16 . | Image Credit - PhoneArena A new leak is giving us very exciting information about the base iPhone 17. If the leaks are anything to go by, the iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be a head-turner – for better or worse. We're expecting a redesign for the Pro models and the debut of an ultra-slim new addition, reportedly called the iPhone 17 Air. Love it or hate it, Apple seems to be charging ahead with these changes, judging by the sheer volume of leaks surrounding the lineup. Another previously rumored change is said to come for the base model. The base iPhone 17 may be the only model that remains "recognizable" from the series, but it is expected to also get some upgrade love. In the display department. Now, another reputable voice, analyst Ross Young, in a subscriber post (via AppleInsider) is corroborating earlier expectations about the iPhone 17 display. According to Young (as well as some other earlier rumors) the iPhone 17 may get a bigger screen. The display may grow from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches - well, 6.27 inches precisely. Multiple earlier leaks have reported this change, and those came from different sources, so it's safe to assume it is very likely to happen. Apart from that increase in screen real estate, another very welcomed rumored upgrade is (finally!) a 120Hz refresh rate. ProMotion displays – those with 120Hz refresh rates – have been reserved for Pro-branded models for years, but now it may be time for the base iPhone 17 model to get it. On top of it all, the leak also hints the iPhone 17 will get always-on display support. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display. | Image Credit - PhoneArena As you can see, this is very good news, if the rumor turns out to be true. A bigger display, fluid motions, and always-on would make the base iPhone 17 even more appealing. Last year, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max's display sizes grew from 6.1 and 6.7 inches to 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively. The iPhone 16 retained the same screen size as its predecessor, though, so it's probably about time for it to grow as well. Probably the most exciting phone from the lineup is the iPhone 17 Air , though. It is bound to replace the 'Plus' model (which replaced the 'Mini' model) and is said to be an extremely thin phone. It recently leaked compared to the iPhone 16 Plus and showed off its exquisite thinness. The iPhone 17 series will compete with the Galaxy S25 phones for the title of the best flagship. Even the Air has a competitor in the face of the newly-launched Galaxy S25 Edge, another slim beauty fighting for your heart.

The Apple Watch Series 7 is on sale at an incredible price with 4G LTE and a stainless steel case

Would you ever consider something as old as the Apple Watch Series 7 for your next big smartwatch purchase with the Apple Watch Series 11 presumably just a few months away from a commercial debut? Before you dismiss that question with a clear and resounding no, let me ask you something else. How much would you be willing to spend on a super-premium cellular-capable Apple Watch with a robust stainless steel body? $500? $400? Well, what if I told you one such model can currently be had for a measly $219.99... in brand-new condition... with a full 1-year manufacturer warranty included? $529 off (71%) GPS + Cellular, Dual-Core S7 Processor, Always-on Retina Display, ECG, Fall Detection, Blood Oxygen Sensor, Third-gen Optical Heart Sensor, Always-on Altimeter, Compass, Emergency SOS, Sleep Tracking, WR50 Water Resistance, IPX6 Dust Resistance, Graphite Stainless Steel Case, Blue Band, New, 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty Included Buy at Woot GPS + Cellular, Dual-Core S7 Processor, Always-on Retina Display, ECG, Fall Detection, Blood Oxygen Sensor, Third-gen Optical Heart Sensor, Always-on Altimeter, Compass, Emergency SOS, Sleep Tracking, WR50 Water Resistance, IPX6 Dust Resistance, Gold Stainless Steel Case, Abyss Blue Sport Band, Renewed Buy at Amazon Oh, now I have your attention? Good, because Woot's latest killer Apple Watch Series 7 deal certainly deserves to be on a lot of bargain hunters' radars, and if you fit that description, you might want to hurry and cough up the aforementioned 220 bucks. Technically, this is a promotion scheduled to run through June 4, but given the 4G LTE connectivity, graphite stainless steel case (in a large 45mm size), and life-saving ECG technology offered by the ultra-affordable Series 7 variant on sale here for a limited time, that time could prove to be even more limited. After all, Woot can't have many brand-new, unused, unopened, and undamaged units in stock nearly four whole years after the Apple Watch Series 7's original release, so there's really no telling when this deal will actually end. The only half-decent Amazon alternative I've been able to find, mind you, has a 41mm cellular-enabled Apple Watch Series 7 model with a gold stainless steel case and abyss blue sport band listed at a few bucks under Woot... in "renewed" condition, which should tell you everything you need to know about the appeal of this amazing new offer. Keep in mind that the Apple Watch Series 7 is still supported by the latest watchOS version, and that's likely to remain true for another year or so. From a hardware perspective, you're looking at a remarkably "current" device here too, at least as far as screen quality and even processing power are concerned. Obviously, the Series 8, Series 9, and Series 10 are all better, but at a monumental $530 discount from an original list price of $750, this thing can be a very smart buy as well.
