Rangers crumbled to a 3-1 defeat to Club Brugge in Champions League qualifying last night, and Souttar came out in support for Martin after the boos rang around Ibrox.
Souttar said: "I think it's not fair for one person to take the flak, I think we all have to take it.
"It's not just the manager, I think we are all due it.
"Everyone at this club who wants to play here has to understand that when things are not going well and demands are not met, then you are going to take flak, you need to accept that.
"In the first half on Tuesday we actually shot ourselves in the foot with how we started.
"When you give away the goals we did, that makes any game difficult.
"Especially a game like that when there is so much at stake and we are playing against a team of that quality.
"In the second half we were a bit better and made them a bit more uncomfortable, but the damage was done before that."
Gers travel to Belgium next Wednesday with it all to do, but Souttar revealed that he hasn't given up all hope of a turnaround.
He continued: "We brought pressure on ourselves by conceding those two goals in the manner we did.
Rangers Tribute Pub Vandalised in Violent Attack: Community Stands Strong
"That makes everything harder so we have to go over there and be on the front foot.
"We can't afford to give goals away the way we did.
"We need to implement our game plan on them, instead of giving them the start we did.
"There is still the belief because we have had big results away from home in Europe in the last few years.
"But there is no point saying that, we need to go and show it."
"Of course we have to cling on to [an improved second half], we have to cling on to something.
"The way we played in the second half, we were on the front foot but obviously it's easier when you have nothing to lose.
"We wanted to start like that, but when you lose two goals like that it naturally derails everything.

"We were a bit better in the second half and when we go over there next week we've got to play like that.
"On Tuesday night, we gave them confidence and that made life so difficult.
"We've had good European nights here and Ibrox has been a place where opposition teams don't feel comfortable, but we gave Brugge that comfort.
"So when you give teams that comfort, it's a lot easier for them to play out from the back, take risks and be more relaxed, and we gifted them that luxury.
"It's important when we have European games here that we get the crowd on our side and make the opposition uncomfortable.
"That's our biggest asset and we just didn't do that."

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers: ‘Sack the board' normally means ‘sack the manager'

Much of the build-up to the game at Parkhead was centred on if and when Rodgers would further bolster his squad for the European campaign, but there were no late signings. It was a frustrating night for the Hoops and in the second half fans, also frustrated by a lack of transfer activity, chanted 'sack the board' and aimed their ire at chief executive Michael Nicholson and chairman Peter Lawwell, while there were further chants and boos after the game. Rodgers said: 'I think it was pretty clear. You didn't need to look into the future too far. 'You know these games are tough games and you want to have your best players in and have players in as quick as you can to tackle these sorts of situations. 'But listen, it is what it is and I just have to accept where it's at and we'll now get ready for Saturday and then the long haul on Sunday. 'Then we'll try and get through on Tuesday.' Asked about the fans' reaction, the Northern Irishman said: 'I do know that, over many years, 'sack the board' normally means 'sack the manager'. Reo Hatate battles for the ball (Andrew Milligan/PA) 'It's normally the manager that goes when that starts to be sung. 'I can only really look at the players we have here, and the performance. 'We've known for a long time what we've needed as a squad, so I don't want to go into that. 'Of course, at the end of the game, we're having to shuffle things about to try and make it work. 'The players are out of position, but the players' endeavour in the second half was really good. Celtic's Callum McGregor shows his frustration (Andrew Milligan/PA) 'But at this level, it's more than that. So hopefully we can show that. 'The boys are a great bunch of lads, they're really honest. They've started the season well. 'Defensively, they've been strong. But tonight, offensively, we just couldn't show those moments of quality to break through. 'We need to improve the squad. There was clarity around that for a long time. 'So we see that. I think supporters see that. We certainly do in football. We need to improve. 'This is a performance club. This is a club that has to perform. And that starts on the field. You do that with getting the very best players you possibly can to allow you to perform.'

Thursday's briefing: Celtic have work to do as Arsenal look to hijack Eze move

Arsenal look set to hijack north London rivals Tottenham's pursuit of Eberechi Eze, who has been preparing for Crystal Palace's Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad. Wantaway Newcastle striker Alexander Isak drew criticism from former Magpies captain Alan Shearer. Bhoys fail to spark Celtic still have plenty of work to do to reach the Champions League after being held to a frustrating goalless draw in the first leg of their play-off against Kairat Almaty at Parkhead. In Brendan Rodgers' 800th match as a manager, there was no traditional early onslaught by the Hoops as the accomplished Kazakh side more than matched their Scottish hosts. However, with Yang Hyun-jun on for Adam Idah and Daizen Maeda moving to centre forward at the start of the second half, Celtic stepped up the pace and piled on the pressure, but could not find a way through despite 10 added minutes. Rodgers continues to look to strengthen his squad, but for now will push on as best they can. 'I just have to accept where it is at,' he said, 'We will now get ready for Saturday and then the long haul on Sunday, then we will try and get through.' Gunners step up Eberechi Eze interest Eberechi Eze has been preparing for Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday (John Walton/PA) Arsenal are set to hijack north London rivals Tottenham's pursuit of Eberechi Eze as they await news on Kai Havertz's knee injury. Spurs appeared to be in the driving seat for the forward, with talks progressing over a deal for the 27-year-old. However, the PA news agency understands the Gunners are now exploring a move, with reports suggesting the England international – who was released by Arsenal as a 13-year-old – prefers a switch to Mikel Arteta's side. Their interest has accelerated after Havertz suffered an injury setback during Sunday's Premier League victory over Manchester United, although sources insist it is still too early to give a prognosis on the Germany international. Alexander Isak situation 'very messy' – Alan Shearer Alexander Isak was at Newcastle's training centre on Wednesday (Owen Humphreys/PA) Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer believes wantaway striker Alexander Isak has poured 'flames on the fire' of his stand-off with the Magpies by accusing the club of breaking promises. Isak has been trying to force a move out of Newcastle all summer, but was frustrated earlier this month when the club rejected an offer from Liverpool, reportedly worth £110million plus add-ons. Having sat out their pre-season tour of Asia and trained alone since – missing Saturday's goalless draw at Aston Villa in Newcastle's Premier League opener – Isak escalated the situation further on Tuesday night with a post on Instagram in which he said 'the relationship can't continue'. Speaking to Betfair, Shearer said: 'I have always said there are two sides to every story, but my feelings are exactly the same – he has gone about it in the wrong way. 'I just think even releasing this statement has thrown flames onto the fire, which he didn't need to do. It is very, very messy for him and for the football club. It doesn't benefit anyone.' Now the 23-year-old's club has confirmed she faces a spell on the sidelines, although they have not specified how long she is expected to be out. An injury update on Lauren James. ℹ️ — (C)helsea FC Women 🏆🏆🏆 (@ChelseaFCW) August 20, 2025 A statement on the club's official website said: 'Chelsea can confirm Lauren James sustained an injury while on international duty with England at Euro 2025 and will be sidelined for a period of time.
