It gives all of us hope to keep working harder and faster. Keep your thoughts and prayers with everybody down here. It's a very tough day, but good things are also happening.'
Comfort is located in Kendall County, one of several regions hit hard by devastating floods that have now claimed at least 70 lives. Shiflet also reported that four bodies had been recovered: a man found in debris, two women discovered in a vehicle, and one unidentified person at the site.
Flood Devastation Across Central Texas
The confirmed death toll from the Central Texas floods reached at least 70 as of Sunday. At least 30 people are still officially listed as missing across multiple counties. Among the missing are 11 campers and one counselor from Camp Mystic, a girls' summer camp in Kerr County.

Federal Response
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he had signed a "Major Disaster Declaration" for Kerr County, Texas.
The declaration is "to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need," he wrote in a Truth Social post on Sunday.
"These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State," Trump added.

That's what some are worried about in the aftermath of the 8.8 magnitude quake that struck the Kamchatka region in Russia's far east. But what happened? What do we know? Let's take a closer look. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD What happened? The tsunami waves triggered by the massive quake seem to have damaged Russia's Rybachiy base, according to satellite images of the region. The base in Avacha Bay, located on the Kamchatka Peninsula, is home to almost the entire fleet of nuclear submarines that Russia has stationed in the Pacific. Russia's Navy's new Borei-class and Soviet-era Delta-class nuclear submarines are housed here. Russia's Yasen-M and Oscar-class guided missile submarines are also said to be stationed there. The K-329 Belgorod, the world's longest submarine, is also believed to be docked or operating in the area. This is just over a hundred kilometers from the location where the quake struck. Remember, the Russian quake is among the ten strongest tremors in recorded history. It sent tsunami waves all the way across the Pacific — to Hawaii, Alaska, and the west coast of America—traveling at the speed of a jet airplane. Images show that a section of one pier has twisted out of its original position. This was revealed by images captured by the Umbra Space satellite, which uses synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to peer through the clouds. Images on social media also showed damage to other buildings in Kamchatka. The earthquake is said to have struck at a depth of around 20 kilometers, approximately 120 kilometers off the coast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The regional capital is home to around 180,000 people. Despite its intensity, there have been no reports of deaths. What is Russia saying? Authorities have called the latest quake a 'remarkable event.' However, they have downplayed reports about any damage. The Russian Defence Ministry has said that the 'situation remains under control' and that 'no damage' has been reported at any of its military installations. This includes naval bases. A retired Russian Navy officer has said there was zero information about 'critical damage to the Russian Navy's naval bases in Kamchatka.' He added that these bases were designed to withstand a nuclear attack. Experts say there is no real evidence that the nuclear submarines themselves have been damaged. It also remains unclear whether any submarines were docked at the pier at the time the earthquake struck. Emergency drills at 55 sites in Delhi today to check earthquake readiness
A large-scale disaster management drill was carried out at 55 locations across Delhi on Friday morning, simulating emergency scenarios to test the preparedness of government agencies. The exercise was conducted at the same time in Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana within the National Capital Region.(REUTERS) The exercise began with a mock earthquake, followed by staged chemical leaks in industrial and transport hubs across all 11 districts of the capital. The drill was part of a coordinated effort across the National Capital Region (NCR), taking place simultaneously in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. A senior Delhi government official told PTI, 'The exercise will be conducted at four to six locations in each district. Members of all government agencies have been instructed, and rehearsals for the disaster management modules have already been conducted.' The drill aimed to evaluate response times, inter-agency coordination, and public safety protocols in the event of natural or man-made disasters. Exercise Suraksha Chakra The drill was part of 'Exercise Suraksha Chakra', organised by the National Disaster Management Authority, the Indian Army, and the governments of Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. People have received messages ahead of the drill. The message reads, 'On 01/08/25, an earthquake and chemical disaster mock drill is being conducted in the districts of Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad. Sirens and announcements may occur. At Mother's International School, students evacuated classrooms calmly, guided by teachers and staff to safety points. Teams ran triage drills and checked building safety as part of a post-earthquake response. At Ramesh Nagar Metro Station, a mock chemical leak was staged. Metro staff and volunteers evacuated passengers. Emergency teams in protective suits set up containment systems and paramedics treated mock victims.
