Traveling soon? This Amex Platinum card glitch could cause trouble
The American Express Platinum Card is often seen as the crown jewel of travel rewards cards. With a hefty $695 annual fee, it's packed with benefits that can easily offset the cost with complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status.
But recently, something unusual happened as some cardholders noticed that the Hilton benefit had suddenly disappeared.
American Express offers several versions of its Platinum Card: the standard version, the Morgan Stanley Platinum Card, and the Charles Schwab Platinum Card.
Now, a glitch appears to have specifically affected holders of the Schwab version, causing the Hilton Honours Gold status benefit to vanish from the benefits page—and worse, downgrading users' Hilton Honours accounts from Gold to basic Member status without notice.

The glitch came to light when users began spotting the missing benefit while reviewing their card perks online. Despite Marriott Bonvoy Gold status still appearing as expected, the Hilton perk was simply gone. Hilton confirmed the downgrade, leaving many confused and frustrated, especially those with upcoming Hilton hotel stays.
Mark Ostermann from Travel on Point clarified that the situation only affected Charles Schwab Platinum cardholders.
Travel Update reported, 'There was a tech glitch which was causing the Hilton Honours Gold Status feature to disappear from the benefits section.'
The report also noted that impacted accounts had been automatically unenrolled from Hilton Gold status and explained if another request was submitted to re-enrol the account for Hilton Honors Gold status. Before the request was submitted, the Hilton Honors account number and the email address on file were confirmed.

For now, American Express has not issued an official statement on the glitch. Platinum cardholders, especially the ones who are on the Charles Schwab version, are strongly encouraged to log in and check whether their Hilton Gold status is still active.

Hospitality giant Hilton to bring the Waldorf Astoria to Delhi's Aerocity
American hospitality chain Hilton on Wednesday announced the signing of two new hotels – the Waldorf Astoria and a Hilton Hotels and Resorts branded property in the capital in partnership with GMR Group-led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). The greenfield projects are set to come up at Aerocity in the next three to five years. The luxury branded Waldorf Astoria property will feature 150 rooms and suites and large event spaces along with wellness amenities. This will be the company's second Waldorf Astoria branded property in the country after Jaipur, which is set to open in 2027. Meanwhile, the 350-room Hilton will be the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in New Delhi. 'The signings underscore Hilton's long-term commitment to India. As we continue to accelerate our growth in South Asia, these landmark properties and partnerships play a pivotal role in expanding Hilton's portfolio. This signing marks a significant step forward and reinforces our role in shaping the future of the Indian hospitality market,' Chris Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton, stated in a release. 'Partnering with Hilton reflects our continued commitment to bring world-class global brands to Aerocity, thereby positioning the facility as a force multiplier for Delhi's tourism and business economy,' said Kiran Kumar Grandhi, corporate chairman, GMR Group. Last month, the company had announced the launch of its luxury brand LXR Hotels & Resorts in India with a debut property in Bengaluru by 2026. Moreover, the company stated that it plans to open 29 new hotels and 5,252 keys in the country in the next five years. According to hospitality consultancy companies Hotelivate and Horwath, the branded hotel room count in the country is expected to grow to 300,000 by 2030. 'The introduction of Waldorf Astoria and our flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to GMR Aerocity marks a major milestone in our India growth strategy, bringing timeless luxury and modern hospitality to the capital. This signing is another step in our goal to grow our India portfolio to ten times its current size in the next decade, supported by vast infrastructure investment and increasing appetite for travel,' stated Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific at Hilton. In an earlier interview to Business Standard, Watts had said the Waldorf Astoria brand is an important addition to the Indian market. 'The luxury market in India is very strong, and the brand (Waldorf Astoria) is recognised globally and holds importance not just for the domestic customer but also for the inbound consumer,' he had said.

What is a credit card upgrade offer, and should you consider it?
When an individual starts their credit card journey, their first card is usually an entry-level card with basic features and benefits. With time, as the individual progresses through the credit card journey, they realise that they need a higher variant credit card with better features and benefits from the same bank. They can do that when the bank sends an upgrade offer or the customer asks the bank for a credit card upgrade. In this article, we will understand what a credit card upgrade is, its benefits, how to become eligible for it, and should an individual opt for it. A credit card upgrade is the process of transitioning from an existing card to a higher variant card with better features and benefits from the same bank. For example, suppose an individual holds an HDFC Bank Regalia Gold Credit Card. If the bank sends a request to the individual for the HDFC Bank Diners Club Black Credit Card, it is a credit card upgrade. Similarly, suppose an individual holds an American Express Membership Reward Credit Card (MRCC). If the individual gets a request for the Platinum Travel Credit Card, it is a credit card upgrade. If the individual accepts the credit card upgrade offer, the bank will send the new credit card. Once the individual activates the new credit card and starts using it, the existing credit card will be disabled. The upgraded credit card usually comes with better features and benefits. Some of these include the following. Higher credit limit: Usually, the upgraded credit card comes with a higher credit limit. When an individual gets a higher credit limit and their monthly expenses using the card remain the same, the credit utilisation ratio (CUR) goes down. The credit utilisation ratio (CUR) measures the percentage of credit limit used from the total credit limit available. A CUR of 30% or lower contributes towards improving the credit score. Higher rewards: The upgraded credit card usually comes with better features and benefits including reward points. For example, the HDFC Bank Diners Club Black Credit Card provides 3X reward points for the purchase of instant vouchers of various brands through the SmartBuy portal. If the cardholder gets upgraded to HDFC Bank Infinia Credit Card, they will get 5X reward points for the purchase of instant vouchers through the SmartBuy portal. Similarly, an American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card (MRCC) provides 2X reward points for the purchase of instant vouchers of various brands through the Rewards Multiplier platform. If the cardholder gets upgraded to American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card, they will get 3X reward points for the purchase of instant vouchers through the Rewards Multiplier platform. Banks keep monitoring the usage pattern of the existing card and other factors regularly and send card upgrades to cardholders from time to time. Some of these factors include the following. Spends on the existing card: The spends done through the existing credit card is one of the most important factors for a credit card upgrade offer. If the cardholder spends a specified amount within a specified time using the existing card, they may become eligible for an upgrade, provided other eligibility criteria are also met. Hence, you may put most of your regular spends on the credit card of the bank from whom you are looking for a credit card upgrade. In the last few months, if you have spent a decent amount using the card, and have still not received a card upgrade offer, you may contact the bank and request for a card upgrade offer. If your salary has increased recently, and the monthly income meets the eligibility criteria of the credit card you want, you may contact the bank. Share your updated income details and request the bank for a credit card upgrade offer. Timely payments: Irrespective of whether you are looking for a credit card upgrade offer or not, you must pay the credit card monthly bill before or by the due date. Banks usually give preference to cardholders who make timely payments for credit card upgrade offers, provided other eligibility criteria are met. Long-term relationship with the bank: If you have a long-standing relationship and a good net relationship value (NRV) with the bank, they may offer you a credit card upgrade. If you don't get an upgrade offer, you may contact the bank and highlight the long-standing relationship and the good net relationship value (NRV) you have with them and request for a credit card upgrade. Good credit score: If you make timely payments, maintain a CUR below 30%, have a good mix of secured and unsecured credit, hold loans/credit cards with long ageing, etc., you will have a good credit score. Maintaining a good credit score is an important factor, along with other factors, that can make you eligible for a credit card upgrade. In the earlier section, we understood how an individual can become eligible for a credit card upgrade. If you meet the above eligibility criteria, you may have already received a credit card upgrade offer. You can check for credit card upgrade offers in your net banking or bank mobile app in the credit card section. You may have received communication on the credit card upgrade offer through email, WhatsApp, SMS, phone calls, etc. Once you accept the card upgrade offer, the bank processes the request. Usually, a credit card upgrade offer doesn't require KYC and income documents, as the bank already has this information. The bank will send you the upgraded credit card within the specified timelines. At the time of credit card upgrade, most cardholders have reward points on their existing credit card. You need not worry about losing them. The reward points on the existing credit card are transferred to the upgraded credit card in a specified ratio. For example, if an individual's credit card is upgraded from HDFC Bank Regalia to HDFC Bank Diners Club Black, the reward points will be transferred in the 2:1 ratio. It means every 2 Regalia reward points will be converted into 1 Diners Club Black reward point. For example, at the time of upgrade, if the Regalia Credit Card has 1,000 reward points, they will be transferred to Diners Club Black Credit Card as 500 reward points. The monetary value of the reward points remains the same after the transfer to the new credit card. If you have received a credit card offer with better features and benefits, you may consider going for it. If you get a higher credit limit on the new card, and your monthly expenses remain the same, it can lower your CUR and contribute towards improving your credit score. The better features and benefits will give you a higher value for every Rupee spent using the card. However, check the annual fees on the upgraded credit card, which will usually be higher than the existing card. Also, your existing card may be lifetime free and the upgraded card may be paid. So, before upgrading, check whether you are okay with the fee structure of the new credit card. Gopal Gidwani is a freelance personal finance content writer with 15+ years of experience. How a vegan beauty brand is redefining modern luxury
In a saturated beauty landscape where 'luxury' often feels like a borrowed label, Kimirica is quietly and powerfully reshaping the definition. Founded in 2012, the homegrown Indian brand emerged from a gap that most marketers didn't even see: there were few, if any, luxury personal care brands that were both effective and ethically made. More than a decade later, Kimirica isn't just selling body lotions and shower gels, it's selling a lifestyle rooted in conscious indulgence. Its story is a masterclass in building a purpose-driven brand that's as digitally savvy as it is emotionally resonant. Kimirica's early years were focused behind the scenes, supplying vegan luxury toiletries to global hospitality giants such as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt. But what began as a B2B success story soon laid the groundwork for a retail expansion that would see the brand enter 5,000 hotels in 40-plus countries, before stepping confidently into the D2C space. This transition wasn't just about distribution—it was about identity. The pivot from supplier to storyteller required a bold reimagining of what a personal care brand could be in the age of values-driven consumers. A story in every bottle 'We don't just make products. We create sensory experiences,' said co-founder and CEO Mohit Jain. And true to that promise, Kimirica's collections are narratives in themselves, whether it's the romantic 'love story' collection or the culturally rich 'vivah' collection inspired by Indian weddings. Each product is inspired by memory, a mood, a moment. For marketers, this is where the magic lies: Kimirica sells thoughtful self-care, bringing moments of happiness to one's everyday life. In a world where brand loyalty is tied to emotional resonance, this storytelling-first strategy has helped Kimirica carve out a unique space in the competitive personal care aisle. Kimirica's rise has been powered by a digital-first marketing strategy that's both human and high-tech. Influencer marketing plays a central role, but unlike trend-chasing brands, Kimirica's collaborations are value-aligned and purpose-led. The result? Authentic partnerships that connect, not just convert. Social media is more than a broadcast channel, it's a storytelling canvas. Glimpses of behind-the-scenes, user testimonials, and immersive product journeys bring the brand to life on social media. The tone is consistent, the visuals are elevated, and the engagement is organic. But it doesn't stop there. The brand uses AI-powered insights to personalise campaigns, predict preferences, and optimise performance across channels. Whether it's launching a men's grooming line or fine fragrances, every innovation is backed by data and driven by purpose. In a standout marketing moment, Kimirica welcomed actor Kiara Advani as its official brand ambassador. The partnership wasn't built on contracts, but on chemistry. Kiara discovered the brand organically and became a loyal customer before ever stepping in front of a campaign lens. The collaboration speaks to a broader shift in celebrity marketing: authenticity over endorsement. Her connection to the brand lends credibility and relatability, positioning Kimirica as a choice for those who want their self-care rituals to reflect their values. Kimirica's positioning goes beyond product performance. Its commitment to 'putting good into the world' is not just a tagline; it's a throughline across its packaging, processes, and partnerships. Clean, vegan, and cruelty-free, the brand walks the talk on ethical and sustainable beauty . Experience the full story and behind-the-scenes journey here: Brand Connect Initiative
