Cowboys' $97 million man targeting Week 1 return after 2 years of injuries

Cowboys' $97 million man targeting Week 1 return after 2 years of injuries After tearing his ACL last season, Diggs has his sights set on returning for the season opener. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, who missed the final six games last season after undergoing surgery to repair a knee injury, has his sights set on returning Week 1 vs the Philadelphia Eagles, according to reporter Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. While the All-Pro is hoping to follow through on his first major goal of the upcoming 2025 season, it will ultimately come down to how well he progresses during training camp. Dallas signed Diggs to a five-year, $97 million extension heading into the 2023 season, but he hasn't played much since then. The former 2020 second-round pick has battled through the injury bug and has missed plenty of football, 21 games to be exact, over the past two seasons, most notably in 2023 after a gruesome ACL tear suffered during a September practice sidelined him for 15 games. Before the injuries came into the picture, Diggs had firmly established himself as one of the NFL's premier playmakers on the back end. His ability to take away a side of the field, bait quarterbacks into mistakes, and create game-changing turnovers made him a centerpiece of Dallas' defense and a massive piece to replace once he went down. Now under new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, the Cowboys will be eager to see Diggs back in the fold as well as hope to see Diggs and fellow All-Pro teammate DaRon Bland see plenty of action on the field at the same time.

Charles Barkley Drops Retirement Plans After Final 'Inside the NBA' TNT Episode

Charles Barkley Drops Retirement Plans After Final 'Inside the NBA' TNT Episode originally appeared on Athlon Sports. "Inside the NBA" has been a staple for basketball fans for the past 36 years, and on Saturday night, TNT aired its final episode. Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and the rest of the crew aren't going away, though, with the show moving to ESPN starting next season. Advertisement It was a bittersweet moment for everyone at TNT. But despite the move, the crew will continue working with TNT and ESPN simultaneously. Barkley was a guest on the "Dan Patrick Show," and said, "If they're being honest, we're gonna probably work on ESPN one-third or half the time." Barkley has been outspoken about his concerns with the move because of his schedule. He has made it clear he doesn't want to take on more work as he is set to move between the two networks. "If they start trying to work me too much between ESPN and TNT, I'm just gonna walk on home," Barkley added. Advertisement Barkley went on to discuss his retirement plans, saying he has seven years left on his TNT deal, but he's only got two more years in him. "I actually have seven years left on my contract," Barkley stated. "I'm like, yeah, there's no way I'm working seven years. I said, I'm gonna be a good soldier for Kenny, Ernie, and Shaq, and the people I work with. Because I love the people I work with, especially behind the scenes. "I said, but the best I can do is two years. And them other five years, they got no chance of happening. So I said, you know what, I'll give y'all two years. They're like, can we get three? I said, I just told you, I ain't gonna give you two." 11-time NBA All-Star and "Inside the NBA" host Charles Terada-Imagn Images The 16-year NBA legend also spoke about what he's going to be doing at TNT now that the show is moving to ESPN. He said he and the rest of his crew filmed a "pilot" a month ago for TNT and called it the "stupidest (expletive) I've ever seen." Advertisement "TNT is trying to do something stupid behind the scenes," Barkley added. "We taped a pilot about a month ago. And it was the stupidest (expletive) I've ever seen in my life... Barkley said TNT wants to have a show with no "basketball highlights." "Number one, we won't have basketball highlights," Barkley said. "But also, we're probably going to be going up against the NBA game. And anybody who likes basketball ain't going to say, hey, you know what, let me turn off an NBA game that's on Amazon, ESPN, or NBC to go watch these four dudes sit around and talk about nothing." As the team wrapped up its one session of mandatory minicamp this week, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made sure the team agreed to terms with its first-round pick, Jihaad Campbell. Once Campbell inked his deal officially, the Eagles took to social media to reveal it's a done deal. The official press release revealed it's a four-year contract, which will include a fifth-year team option. Shortly after the deal was done, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported a key detail regarding the financials of the deal. Campbell will earn a guarantee of $14,903,574 in the deal. Campbell just wrapped up a three-year run at Alabama. In 2022, he appeared in nine games as a freshman. Campbell accounted for just one tackle throughout the year. By year two, Campbell appeared in 13 games as a sophomore. He picked up 66 tackles, three pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and half a sack. Campbell also had an interception, two pass deflections, and a fumble recovery during his junior effort as well. The Eagles made a move to land Campbell on draft night, but they didn't have to go far. Sitting at the end of the first round, Howie Roseman saw Campbell as the best player on the board when the Eagles' Super Bowl foe went on the clock. The Eagles decided to form a swap with the Kansas City Chiefs so they could move up and call on Campbell. It was an unexpected move for Roseman, who doesn't typically aim high for linebackers in the draft. However, the Eagles have prioritized the position more lately. With Campbell joining the linebacker room, he joins a linebacker unit that includes Baun, Nakobe Dean, Azeez Ojulari, Jeremiah Trotter Jr, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and more.
