Shah Rukh Khan left quietly after I told him ‘nas kaat lungi', recalls Wamiqa Gabbi: ‘There was pin-drop silence on the sets of Baby John'

Indian Express21-05-2025

After gaining recognition for several of her Punjabi films and appearances in series like Modern Love Mumbai, Wamiqa Gabbi received her big break after she was cast as one of the leads in Atlee's film Baby John starring Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. This was filmmaker Atlee's second Bollywood project after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. While he directed-produced Jawan, he presented Baby John with Kalees as its director. For the film's muhurat, Atlee had his Jawan film star, Shah Rukh Khan attend the event. This also marked Wamiqa's first official meeting with the superstar. However, the meeting was nothing like she anticipated.
In a recent interview with Mashable India, Wamiqa Gabbi recalled her first meeting with the star and said, 'My conversation was very weird with him. We were all at Baby John's muhurat when Shah Rukh Khan visited the set for 15 minutes. My brother Hardik was with me on the set. When he came, everybody was so charmed by him that they stood around him and heard him talk. My brother and I were standing at the back and we were having our own conversation, anticipating our possible conversation with the star. I asked Hardik, 'If he will come to speak to me while leaving, what do you think I should speak with him?' Hardik joked, 'Nas kaat de'. We are laughing talking all this.'

'And as anticipated, he did come to me before he left as I was also in the film. He said 'okay, bye' and I said, 'It was so nice meeting you sir, my brother was suggesting I cut my wrist but obviously I won't do that.' Now, as soon as I told this to him, everyone went quiet, and SRK simply left. After he left, a person from the production came running to me and was like, 'Did you just talk about cutting your wrist?' My brother was shocked. I honestly thought SRK will get the humour, but he didn't,' added an embarrassed Wamiqa Gabbi.
Rajkummar Rao, who too was part of the interview, recalled his last meeting with the star and said, 'I met Shah Rukh sir at Farah Khan's birthday. We spoke a lot. We discussed his film, King, then we spoke about Aryan Khan's new show. He also said he liked my film Stree 2.'

Official! Keerthy Suresh's 'Revolver Rita' locks release date; aims THIS festival in August

The much-awaited release date of Keerthy Suresh 's next film 'Revolver Rita' has been announced. The film is set to hit theaters on 27 August, aligning with the celebration of Vinayagar Chaturthi. This official confirmation has encouraged the fans, who have been waiting for the update since the film's teaser, which was unveiled on Keerthy Suresh's birthday. With the prescribed release during a major festival, producers are expecting to attract large family audiences to theaters. Anticipated for Keerthy Suresh's strong comeback 'Revolver Rita' is an important film in Keerthy Suresh's career, especially after the lackluster reception her recent films have received. Her last Tamil outing, 'Raghu Thatha', was released in 2024, but failed to leave an impression at the box office. She then played the lead role in 'Baby John,' which was the Hindi remake of Vijay's 'Theri', which did not perform as expected. Despite the failures, Keerthy Suresh continues to work in diverse roles, and 'Revolver Rita' is expected to be shown in a bold and dynamic avatar. Stellar cast and crew raise expectations Directed by JK Chandru, who first helmed 'Naveena Saraswati Sabadham', 'Revolver Rita' boasts a unique story and an ensemble cast. Along with Keerthy Suresh, the film also stars Sunil, Ajay Ghosh, John Vijay , Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakravarthy, and Blade Shankar . The technical team consists of cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan and music composed by Sean Roldan, as both bring a rich creative value to the project. Teaser generated great buzz After wrapping her shooting in 2024, 'Revolver Rita' has been in post-production for several months. The teaser indicated a bizarre, action-packed story, where Keerthy Suresh is playing a powerful, possibly eccentric character with Suresh. Now with its dramatic release, 'Revolver Rita' aims to offer a fresh cinematic experience to the audience.
