Parvatipuram: The Special Officer of Parvatipuram Manyam District Dr Narayan Bharat Gupta took part in the Swarna Andhra Swachh Andhra (SASA) programme on Saturday with district collector A Shyam Prasad.
Together, they planted saplings at the District Collector's office and launched a 'Chalivendram' (drinking water centre) in Parvatipuram town, distributing buttermilk to attendees. Dr Gupta urged the public to prioritize their health amid the heat, advising them to stay indoors unless necessary and to wear loose clothing and stay hydrated when outdoors. He also encouraged the community to maintain cleanliness and to empty containers to prevent mosquito breeding.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing toilets for every household and encouraged applications for assistance. After the programme, he visited NREGA projects in Lakshminarayan Puram village.

Blood tests to be held in malaria prone areas
Parvatipuram: Aiming to control malaria in the district, the district administration launched Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in the district on May 1 and will continue till June 15. June, July and August are the crucial months for spreading of malaria in the district due to its geographical condition and the district administration concentrated on these months. The Malaria officials identified 248 vulnerable villages for malaria with a population of about 50,000. Besides IRS to control malaria, even looking to eradicate parasite in any person. Blood screening tests are planned to conduct to identify any parasite in any person thereby steps can be taken to bring it into 'zero' spreading. District Collector A Shyam Prasad instructed the officials to prepare meticulous plan to control malaria. He asserted that no death should occur due to malaria. Before monsoon, chlorination of drinking water sources, preparation of oil balls etc material should be kept ready to combat the situation, he said. 'Giri Chaitanyam' a digital vehicle is coming on the road shortly and being utilised to create awareness among the public not only on malaria but for multiple activities, he said. Gambusia fish have been releasing in water bodies to control mosquito larva and also trying to use drone services to spray or to release mosquito controlling activities, he said.

‘Swarnaandhra-Swachh Andhra' held
Kondapi: Social Welfare Minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said that maintaining clean surroundings is the responsibility of every member of society. The minister participated in the 'Swarna Andhra Swachh Andhra' held in Jarugumalli village on Saturday. During the event, the minister inaugurated a medical camp and a Cool Water distribution centre. Addressing the gathering, Dr Veeranjaneya Swamy emphasised the cleanliness of the surroundings. He said that environmental cleanliness is everyone's responsibility. The minister directed sanitation staff to regularly clean side canals and drains in villages. He urged everyone to plant at least one tree to contribute to environmental protection and called for the conservation of trees and forests. Because of the current summer season, the minister advised people to consume sufficient cold water and buttermilk while taking necessary precautions against the heat. He noted that the government has been providing water troughs in fields to ensure water availability for livestock. Minister DSBV Swamy called upon voluntary organizations and citizens to come forward to set up cooling centres to help quench public thirst during the hot summer months.
