Arsenal make final decision on Viktor Gyokeres transfer after agent meeting
Arsenal are now set to move quickly to wrap up a deal to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports in Portugal.
Gyokeres' relationship with Sporting has turned sour this week with the Sweden international now desperate to secure a move away from the Portuguese capital.
Arsenal held fresh talks with the striker's agent on Wednesday to discuss a move to bring him to the Emirates.
The Gunners have explored moves for both Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko this summer with reports now suggesting the former may now be their prime target.
Arsenal officials met with Gyokeres' representative, Hasan Cetinkaya, with A Bola reporting the Premier League side are now ready to move forward with a concrete offer.

During the meeting, Arsenal discussed terms with Cetinkaya and the fee it will take to sign him with a formal proposal expected 'in the next few hours'.
A Bola also claim Arsenal are 'in a hurry' to conclude the deal with Gyokeres also keen on the move to north London.
Arsenal must now agree a fee with Sporting with club president Frederico Varandas yesterday accusing Gyokeres' agent of trying to 'threaten and blackmail' the Portuguese champions.
Despite having a €100million (£84m) release clause, it has been widely reported Sporting will allow him to leave him for €60m plus €10m in add-ons (£50m plus £8m) this summer, stemming from an apparent agreement between the club and player's representatives last year.
Varandas however insisted there was never any agreement over a final number, ruling out the possibility of Gyokeres leaving for that cut price fee.
'One thing you should already know is me better,' Varandas said. 'Threats, blackmail and insults don't work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60+10 because I never promised him that. More Trending
'This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse. [Are there offers for 60 million?] To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyokeres, neither today nor last season.'
Arsenal also remain in talks with RB Leipzig over a move for Sesko. Sporting director Andrea Berta believes a deal can be done for around £75m but so far there has been no major breakthrough.
Manchester United and Juventus meanwhile remain interested in the former Coventry City star.
Ruben Amorim has been eager for a reunion with his former striker in Manchester but a lack of European football on offer at Old Trafford next season could prove to be a decisive blow to those plans.

The Reds recently submitted a bid of £100milllion plus £14m of add-ons to Bayer Leverkusen, and while negotiations are still ongoing, they remain confident of wrapping up a deal. The Merseysiders are doing all they can to bring in the 22-year-old Germany international. And his arrival would dwarf their previous transfer record, which saw them spend £75m on Virgil van Dijk in the 2018 January transfer window. Wirtz is widely admired around Europe and was heavily linked with Manchester City and Bayern Munich. His likely arrival is a statement of intent from owners FSG, who were often reluctant to spent £100m in a single transfer window, let alone on one player. Not long ago, the club's fanbase were repeatedly accusing FSG of being too scared to break the bank to sign top-class players. The seemingly imminent arrival of Wirtz is a clear sign that the purse strings are no longer as tight. It is a huge boost to Liverpool fans who were often frustrated by the likes of fierce rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea comfortably out-spending them. In his early years at the club, former manager Jurgen Klopp defended the ownership in press conferences and interviews. But behind the scenes, the German was making it clear that extra investment in the squad was vital if they wanted to lift the big trophies. When Klopp arrived at Liverpool, the Reds were in 10th place and had an ageing squad. Unhappy with the players at his disposal, Klopp received an apologetic text from the FSG bosses. In 2021, Klopp revealed: "At the beginning I received a message from the US saying, 'Sorry for the squad we've given you.' But all was good I replied, it just needs time.' Two years after revealing that text, Klopp watched his Liverpool side be convincingly beaten 5-2 at home by Real Madrid. It was the kind of chastening defeat which prompts action in the next transfer window. The previous month, Klopp publicly warned that Liverpool will need to be more aggressive in the transfer window or they will fall behind their Premier League and European rivals. He said: "I believe in coaching, I believe in developing, I believe in team-building and using those things 100%. "But meanwhile in the world out there the managers are really good. There are so many good managers out there it's crazy. So they believe in that as well, and if they start really properly spending and do those things as well, then you cannot not spend or you will have a little bit of a problem." In Klopp's final summer transfer window they fully took on Klopp's advice, as they rebuilt their midfield by signing Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo for a combined £155m. After Klopp walked away, many were surprised that Arne Slot was only able to sign Federico Chiesa in his first two transfer windows. But after winning the Premier League, FSG have shown the kind of spending intent usually seen by City, United and Chelsea. The way in which they have quickly moved for Wirtz highlights FSG's proactiveness, and that they are no longer afraid to break the bank to sign a potential game-changer. Full-back Jeremie Frimpong has already arrived this summer for £29.5m, while £45m Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez looks likely to arrive too, so Liverpool are clearly looking to build on their title triumph from Slot's first season. And it's a stark contract from the text message they left for Klopp all those years ago.

Record Sport first revealed the Maccabi Tel Aviv man is a target for the Light Blues. And his name could be an indication of how Rangers' new owners 49ers Enterprises aim to share information between the Ibrox club and Leeds United. That's because the 21-year-old was heavily linked with the Yorkshire club - before we revealed the bombshell American takeover exclusive. We told you in February of the bid for ownership by a US-based consortium. However, talks had been going on long before that for such a complex deal. And it was in December last year that Leeds United were first linked with the Israeli. Daniel Farke's men were keen to bolster their squad as they chased their eventually successful bid for promotion to the Premier League. A deal wasn't concluded but back in March of this year it emerged Rangers had watched Turgeman in action for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League and games for Israel against Estonia and Norway in March. Coincidence? Surely not. News of the Rangers takeover by Leeds United 's owners had exploded by then and it's more likely they had started sharing information. The American group have their own player databases and that is likely to be exploited, with the Elland Road side likely aiming for a higher profile players now they have reached the Premier League promised land. But Turgeman, who stands at 6ft 1in tall and can play as a central striker or on the left wing, is under contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv until the summer of 2026, would fit the bill for Rangers He started his youth career at Ashdod before moving to Bloomfield Stadium in 2018. He spent a season on loan at Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam between 2021 and 2022 before breaking into the first-team picture at Maccabi. His manager Zarko Lazetic described him as a 'beast on the football pitch' and around the time of Leeds United's interest, didn't want to sell at any price, saying only a 'fairytale offer' would tempt him to part company. Rangers have been told that £4million won't be enough for the Israelis to sell and they will have to raise any offer.

All 20 Premier League clubs will be showing off their new kits over the summer and Mirror Football will bring you a glimpse of every single one as soon as it arrives The new Premier League season is still some way away, but clubs have been giving their fans plenty to get excited about. For some, that means new signings, but for others the 2025-26 kits are the main talking point. It has become a habit of some sides to debut new kits at the end of the previous season, while others wait longer. At the time of writing, fewer than half of the 20 teams in England's top tier have shared their new releases, but we'll be updating you throughout the summer as the newest home and away kits drop. There will often be variety in new kit releases, though this is more likely to come with the change strips than with the home efforts. Traditional colours aren't tampered with quite as regularly - though there are some exceptions. This time last year, we were starting to see the first of the 2024-25 kits. If you want to refresh your memory, you can look back at our complete ranking of the home and away shirts unveiled by the Premier League's clubs last term. Those of you who liked last season's efforts might be dreading what's to come, while if you weren't a fan of last year's you might be giving your team a shot at redemption this summer. Without further ado, here are the kits which have been released so far. Arsenal (H) Arsenal released their new home kit before the end of the 2024-25 season, allowing their players to wear it for the home Premier League closer against Newcastle. The adidas shirt is red with white shoulders and a red trim, and puts a gothic letter 'A' on the badge at the forefront in a nod to the 1990-91 title winning season. "I love our new kit, it looks fresh - I'm excited to wear this in front of our incredible supporters," Arsenal and England defender Myles Lewis-Skelly said when the kit was released. "Their energy lifts us and when we step out in the shirt, we feel it more than ever." Aston Villa (A) Aston Villa's away shirt for the 2024-25 season was all white, but that will change for the upcoming campaign. The new dark away shirt made its first appearance on the final day, when Unai Emery's side lost at Manchester United to miss out on Champions League qualification. As the club explained, the new design also carries a nod to Villa's home city of Birmingham. "The design on the shoulders is inspired by the Bullring, one of the iconic landmarks on the skyline of Birmingham and where the club's new store opens today - meaning both fans and players alike will wear the fabric of our city," the club explained along with the release in May. Chelsea (H) Chelsea were the first Premier League club to release both their home and away shirts. Both were unveiled before the Blues' Club World Cup campaign, with that competition beginning in mid-June, with the blue home kit carrying a nod to London - and their specific part of the capital. "The fabric of London is woven into every thread of our new kit, which is inspired by the capital's iconic landmarks and creative culture," a club release read. "Chelsea Town Hall is among the architectural landmarks subtly featured on the shirt, which was unveiled by Chelsea and Nike today." Chelsea (A) We've also now seen Chelsea's new away kit. Players from the men's and women's teams got involved in the launch of the white away shirt with red and green trim - a nod to a 70s design. "There is an artistic feel to our new away kit, with the photoshoot taking place at Saatchi Gallery on the King's Road and the colour palette inspired by a cult classic kit from days gone by," the club announced. "Our manager from the early 1970s, Dave Sexton, introduced an away strip back then which was a tribute to Hungary's famous 'Magnificent Magyars' team from two decades earlier and it evolved into a white shirt with a broad red and green vertical stripe." Manchester City (H) Manchester City have shown it is possible to keep traditional colours and still get a bit creative. Their 2025-26 home kit will predominantly be sky blue, as usual, but with a white sash. City also have a sash on their change strip for the Club World Cup, which is predominantly white, in a nod to their 2009-10 away kit. However, this will just be used for the tournament, with City confirming a new away kit will be unveiled ahead of the upcoming league season. Manchester United (H) Manchester United won't have a chance to show off their new home kit in Europe, having lost in the final of last season's Europa League. However, they've wasted little time showing off what they will wear next term. United's new shirt has adidas' famous three stripes in black on the shoulders, while there is also a graphic on the sleeves inspired by the club's Old Trafford Stadium. It's capped off by the words 'Theatre of Dreams' just below the collar on the back. "The colour red is fundamental to the club's DNA. There have been many different expressions of it over the years and, for this season, we wanted to do something a little different, using the sleeves as a canvas," adidas' Jurgen Rank said. "The abstract graphic stays true to the club's DNA while providing an innovative look and feel to an otherwise classy and classic jersey." Newcastle United (H) It's black and white again for Newcastle - no surprises there - but with a twist. The classic stripes are blended with a shepherd's check for a slightly different take on the usual colours. Newcastle debuted the kit at the end of last season against Everton, when they qualified for the Champions League despite losing their home closer. The club has also pledged to donate £5 per shirt sold to the Newcastle United Foundation. "It's a way for supporters to not only wear the badge, and the beautiful new kits with pride, but to directly contribute to the life-changing work the Foundation does across the region," chief commercial officer Peter Silverstone said. "Together, we're making a difference – on and off the pitch.' Tottenham Hotspur (H) Spurs didn't just appoint a new manager in the first half of June - they also unveiled their new home shirt. The Europa League winners now know what they will be wearing as they look to build under that success under new boss Thomas Frank. "The 2025/26 Kit features a subtle tweak to the navy sleeves of last season, with a new grey and ashen slate pattern under the arm and the traditional lilywhite base forming the outer part of the sleeve," the club announced when unveiling the new Nike shirt. The kit release was accompanied by a video featuring club legend Ledley King.
