Surrey, Durham and The Blaze all won in the Women's One-Day Cup, while Essex v Somerset was abandoned due to rain. The Blaze climbed to the top of the table after beating Warwickshire, climbing above Hampshire who lost in the last over to Surrey.Durham boosted their chances of a top-four place and qualification for the semi-finals with a big win over Lancashire, but Essex and Somerset had to share the points following rain at Chelmsford. In a game reduced to 39 overs in Lincoln, The Blaze made 218-6. helped by Marie Kelly (66) and Georgie Boyce's (46) opening stand of 106.Warwickshire collapsed to 28-5 in reply before Abbey Freeborn (56) and wicketkeeper Nat Wraith (75) put on 112 for the sixth wicket.Once Georgia Elwiss (3-26) broke through by dismissing Freeborn, the lower order fell quickly and the visitors were bowled out for 171 to lose by 47 runs.
Alice Davidson-Richards led Surrey to a thrilling victory over Hampshire in Guildford. After Hampshire made 278 in their 50 overs, rain delays saw Surrey's target eventually revised to 214 in 31 overs. When Danni Wyatt-Hodge went for 32 to leave Surrey 170-6 and still needing 44 off 20 balls, Hampshire seemed poised for victory. But Davidson-Richards (72 not out) and Alice Monaghan (15 not out) took Surrey home with two balls to spare to move them up to fourth in the table.Durham are a point behind Surrey in fifth thanks to an 89-run victory over third-placed Lancashire.A brilliant 111 from captain Hollie Armitage helped Durham to 257 all out at Chester-le-Street.Lancashire were never in the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 168 all out in the 39th over - Kate Cross top scoring with 34.Somerset had piled up 312-6 against bottom side Essex when the rain arrived after 49.2 overs of their innings, taking the players from the field. It failed to relent and the game was called off just before 16:00 BST.

The 12-year-old Hampshire girl hoping to inspire female cricketers

"I think more girls would love cricket if they could give it a try."A 12-year-old girl who plays at county level after taking up the sport two years ago says it should be easier for girls to become who lives in Hampshire and goes to school in Newbury, Berkshire, tells the BBC she was "always having to wear boys' clothes" because she struggled to find cricket wear for she has been selected to be an ambassador for a company making cricket clothing exclusively for women and girls after the owners were "blown away" by her "vision for change in the sport". Honour Black, co-founder of Maiden Cricket, says Mya was picked to represent the firm thanks to her "clear passion for making cricket more inclusive and accessible for girls".The company, set up by sisters Honour and Cat in 2024, aims to design comfortable clothing specifically for female sisters say Mya's role would give her opportunities to meet industry leaders and participate in who plays for Falkland Cricket Club, says she started playing cricket at her old school."They put me into the hard ball team and I just really enjoyed playing hard ball with my school," she says."I joined two local clubs and I play for my county as well now."But there was one problem."I was looking for girls cricket wear because I was always having to wear boys clothes," she says."I came across [Maiden Cricket] and I really liked what they stood for and their focus to help more girls and women play cricket and be more comfortable in their clothes, playing the sport we love."The company said it received hundreds of applicants for the ambassador says: "Mya really stood out to us from the start."Her drive to raise the profile of girls' hard ball cricket and her desire to inspire others really align with Maiden's mission."We were blown away by her enthusiasm and vision for change in the sport." Mya says: "I think more girls would love cricket if they could give it a try."We just need to make it easier for them so they can have a go."Her dream is to play for Hampshire Hawks - and then perhaps England."It's going to be a hard challenge to do if I want to play for England but I have to just work really hard," she says. FA Cup on display at Harwich and Parkeston FC

The FA Cup has been displayed at a non-league football club as part of its 150th anniversary side Harwich and Parkeston FC are returning to the competition for the first time since 2019, facing AFC Dunstable in the extra preliminary round on chairman Tony Armstrong said the display of the trophy was instrumental in showing how far the club had come since nearly going out of existence 23 years ago."It's the hard work from volunteers that has resurrected the club," he said. The club opened its doors to its youth teams and the public to come to see the iconic president Terry Francis said: "It's an honour for the club and inspiring for young people and non-league supporters."Supporter Mark, 38, who has been taking his daughter Holly, 11, to matches since she was born, said it was surreal to see the trophy, especially at his home team manager Matt Carmichael said: "A successful [cup] run would mean a lot to the club financially."He said the club was on a good trajectory, following their promotion to Premier Division of the Essex Senior League, and the "sky is the limit." Yorkshire boost survival hopes after thrashing Sussex in Scarborough

Daniel Hughes and Danial Ibrahim had made fifties to give Sussex hope of batting out the final day in Scarborough, but Matt Milnes dismissed both overnight batters in his first couple of overs. Milnes was the pick of the Yorkshire attack with five for 31 as Sussex added just 80 runs on the fourth day, all out for 195 and only Fynn Hudson-Prentice offering resistance with an unbeaten 52. Matt Milnes completes his first Yorkshire 5-fer to bring us home! 👏 — Yorkshire CCC (@YorkshireCCC) August 1, 2025 Victory for Yorkshire takes the White Rose up from ninth in the table to seventh, although there are only 15 points separating fifth-placed Hampshire and ninth-spotted Durham with three matches left. Hampshire might have put more of a gap between themselves and those below them ,but fell two wickets short of beating rock-bottom Worcestershire at New Road. A declaration on 313 for seven left the Pears needing 358 in 53 overs for just a second win of the season and Jake Libby cracked 106 from just 122 balls – his second century of the match. Hampshire kept chipping away, with highly-rated quicks Sonny Baker and Eddie Jack each claiming three wickets, but hands were shaken with Worcestershire on 303 for eight after 52.5 overs. "It was a great game of cricket" 😅 Captain Ben Brown is pleased with his side's efforts to try and bowl Worcestershire out and force a result after rain played a big impact across the four days 🤝 📰 Report & Reaction ⤵️ — Hampshire Cricket (@hantscricket) August 1, 2025 Nottinghamshire sit nine points adrift of leaders Surrey after being held to a draw by Somerset at Trent Bridge. With a 106-run first-innings lead in a high-scoring match, Nottinghamshire needed to make inroads into Somerset's batting. But while Calvin Harrison took three wickets, Somerset getting to 200 for five meant a stalemate was agreed. Ed Barnard went from an overnight 90 to 108 for Warwickshire, but mid-afternoon rain meant their match at Essex petered out to a draw. GLAMORGAN WIN AT OLD TRAFFORD FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1993!!!!! What a team, what an effort, and what an incredible performance 👏👏👏#LANvGLAM #OhGlammyGlammy — Glamorgan Cricket 🏆 (@GlamCricket) August 1, 2025 In Division Two, Glamorgan remain on course for promotion after claiming their first win at Emirates Old Trafford since 1993. Any hopes of Lancashire reeling in 473 from an overnight 226 for five were soon extinguished despite Marcus Harris' 61 as the Red Rose were all out for 318. Leaders Leicestershire were frustrated by Ben Compton's double hundred as their clash at Kent ended in a draw. Unbeaten fifties from Luis Reece and Brooke Guest and the rain helped Derbyshire avoid defeat at Northamptonshire, while Joe Phillips hit his maiden first-class ton as Gloucestershire versus Middlesex was also draw at Cheltenham.
