Could the Kansas City Chiefs put an end to the trade rumors regarding tight end Kyle Pitts?
Could the Kansas City Chiefs put an end to the trade rumors regarding tight end Kyle Pitts? originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
With Xavier Worthy, Marquis "Hollywood" Brown, Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce preparing to line up and catch passes for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, it's hard to ponder the need for more offensive firepower.

After all, the Chiefs have made three consecutive Super Bowls with Mahomes under head coach Andy Reid's revolutionary offensive schemes, even when deploying various receivers. This could certainly be enough for another deep playoff run.
One move, however, is encouraging a Chiefs fan page to believe the offense could go to a "new level" and be set up well for the future.
KCKingdom.com is pitching the idea for Kansas City to make a "splash" and trade for promising young tight end Kyle Pitts, who unfortunately has been used inefficiently with the Atlanta Falcons throughout his career and has been the center of trade talks for months.
"While Atlanta marches to the beat of its own drum when it comes to managing its roster, there have been consistent trade rumblings. It is noteworthy that Pitts didn't take part in OTAs and remains in trade rumors dating back to the end of the season," Nick Halden wrote.

"It seems an early-day two pick might be enough to get the deal done in what would be a rental for the 2025 season. While this is a high price to pay for a lone season, the potential elite ability of the pass catcher makes the fit far too enticing not to consider."
If any team can figure out how to utilize the uber-athletic target, it's the Chiefs. They have made a living on Kelce's usage as Mahomes' security blanket all throughout their AFC dominance in the decade. Pitts could fit in that mold while not needing to be a No. 1 option.
He could also fill this role for years to come if Kelce is seriously flirting with retirement. Pitts' physical gifts could allow for even more creativity once he becomes the top tight end in Reid's scheme, as well.
It's certainly a splashy move, but this could still turn into a trigger-happy dump of draft capital if nothing improves regarding Pitts production and fit into the offense. The addition makes for a loaded receiving corps with only one football to be passed around.

In a lesser role, Pitts could still learn the ropes of a new offense and find an area to contribute, especially under Kelce's tutelage.
This trade would spark a reclamation mentality for Pitts to motivate him to return to his top-five pedigree from the 2021 Draft.
It's not an exaggeration to say Chiefs fans have been spoiled with elite offense in recent years. A savvy move to land Pitts and intelligent coaching to integrate him effectively could result in the rich getting richer.

"And like, you know, they've only started winning recently and the air in the clubhouse is different when there's like expectations and things like that." "Even with different personnel, the vibe in the Astros' clubhouse has always been the same, the standard has always been high even through new managers... You know, if I'm a bettin' man, and I'm betting what team do I think has a better record at the end, I still kind of feel like it's the Astros." Dana White Confirms Jon Jones 'Agreed to Fight' Tom Aspinall, But What Happened Next?
Dana White Confirms Jon Jones 'Agreed to Fight' Tom Aspinall, But What Happened Next? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The UFC heavyweight division's long-standing limbo took a dramatic turn last week as Dana White finally broke his silence on the Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall saga. At the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, White insisted Jon Jones agreed to fight Aspinall and accepted a deal. Advertisement The declaration seemed to promise a resolution to a saga of petty social media spats, retirement threats, and fan petitions demanding Jones be stripped of his title. Yet, as Ariel Helwani pointed out on Uncrowned, White's statement omitted a critical twist. Dana WhitePhoto by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC In a rant he posted on YouTube, Helwani dissected White's carefully curated narrative, highlighting the gap between the UFC CEO's optimism and the reality of Jones' commitment. Watch the full rant here: 'Confirmation: Jon Jones was offered the deal and accepted the deal. Rewind: Jon Jones was offered the deal, I said it, he finally accepted,' Helwani noted. 'Now, that's the most significant thing that Dana White has said regarding this in a very long time.' Advertisement However, he then revealed that Jones's acceptance of a fight deal was not solid, saying, 'The problem is he didn't tell you the whole story. He didn't tell you about the 'and then he went back on his word' part. He didn't tell you about that part. Eventually, that part will come out, but he didn't tell you about that part right then and there. But there it is.' Helwani speculates that White's press conference remarks were a last-ditch effort to pressure Jones into signing. This claim would be nothing more than speculation if it weren't for Jon Jones's recent social media antics, including his willingness to accept a fight with Francis Ngannou. In that same press conference Helwani alludes to, White also declared he has no power over Jones's career decisions, saying, 'Listen, if the guy wants to retire and doesn't want to fight, [there's] nothing you can do.' Advertisement Interim champion Tom Aspinall, meanwhile, has grown increasingly vocal, declaring himself the undisputed heavyweight king, wishing for the UFC heavyweight division to move on from this saga and dismiss Jones's legacy. The UFC has been facing a pivotal choice for months to either force the heavyweight champion's hand or risk the division's credibility. White's insistence that the fight between Jones and Aspinall rings hollow without contracts. As Helwani warned, 'the whole story' will remain untold.
