Dallas Wings' Strong Statement on Paige Bueckers Amid Rookie Season
The Dallas Wings may not have a strong team this year, but they do have a strong rookie in Paige Bueckers who should help transform them into winners in the years to come.
She struggled in her WNBA debut on Friday by going 3-of-10 from the field and scoring just 10 points. But in the first half of Monday's game versus the Seattle Storm, she scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and added four assists, two rebounds and one block.

On their official X account, the Wings reminded the rest of the league that Bueckers will be an issue for many other teams for a long time.
"We've got Paige... you've got problems :)" the caption read.
Less than two months ago, Bueckers led the UConn Huskies to the women's NCAA championship over South Carolina. For the season, she averaged 19.9 points, 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds a game while shooting 53.4% from the field and 41.9% from 3-point range.
The guard won the Wade Trophy, the Big East Player of the Year and Nancy Lieberman Award in 2025, and she was the No. 1 pick in last month's WNBA draft by Dallas.

Dallas, a franchise that won three league championships in 2003, 2006 and 2008 when it was known as the Detroit Shock, has fallen upon hard times in recent years. It went just 9-31 last season and has had a winning record just once in the last nine seasons.

But in Bueckers, it could have the WNBA's next superstar to build around moving forward.

She was averaging 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 2023. When Clark joined in 2024, Hull improved her averages to 5.5 points per game and she earned 6th Player of the Year votes. Hull is off to a hot start in her first seven games of 2025. She's averaging 10.4 points, 4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Her field-goal percentage jumped from 44.1% last year to 54.5% this year. Clark's injury has definitely hampered the Fever's ability to win games. Indiana is 3-4 to start the season. One insider isn't ruling out Jason Kidd becoming the Knicks' next coach. Kidd is currently in charge of the Mavericks, meaning the Knicks would first need permission from Dallas just to interview and then negotiate compensation to allow the Mavericks to let him leave. But ESPN's Tim MacMahon pointed to Kidd's connections with the Knicks, who fired Tom Thibodeau Tuesday after five years with the team, as a reason to monitor the situation. 'You've got to bring in a relationships guy,' MacMahon said on the outlet's 'Hoop Collective' podcast. 'Listen, one of the names that's been thrown out there is a man who's under contract with another team, but definitely a guy who has relationships not just with Jalen Brunson but with a lot of people in that organization, and that's Jason Kidd. $46 million lineman has been kryptonite to Cowboys, but can join them in 2026 The Dallas Cowboys have a plan, and a backup plan, for their offensive line this season. Preaching the edict of getting the best five on the field, it's not assured that the current projection will be the finished product by the time the regular season rolls around. Most expect the club, under first year offensive coordinator and OL guru Klayton Adams (and first-year OL coach Connor Riley) to trot out Tyler Guyton, Tyler Smith, Cooper Beebe, Tyler Booker and Terence Steele from left to right. If Guyton doesn't progress over a lackluster Year 1 performance, or if he's shifted to right tackle for the multi-year struggling Steele, then the All-Pro Smith could be kicked out to left tackle; the position he was originally drafted to play. Dallas has multiple interior options on the club to take over at guard, including recently signed free agents Robert Jones or Saahdiq Charles, as well as Brock Hoffman. But those may only be temporary solutions. A thorn in the side of the club over the last several years, is set to hit free agency in 2026; Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller. Teller was recently identified by Pro Football Focus as the best player against the Cowboys across the last five seasons; their Achilles Heel if you will. Browns guard Wyatt Teller clearly got the memo that Dallas' run defense has struggled in recent years. His 94.2 PFF overall grade in two recent matchups is carried primarily by a fantastic 93.5 PFF run-blocking grade. In Week 4 of 2020, Teller earned a 96.7 PFF overall grade and a 94.9 PFF run-blocking grade — both of which represent the best single-game grades of his career. Adding Teller, who has made $46 million in salary through his career entering this season, could go a long way towards securing the title of best offensive line in football for the Cowboys.
