Three killed in express bus-car collision in Kuala Krai

KUALA KRAI: Three people were killed in an accident between an express bus and a car along Jalan Kuala Krai-Gua Musang, near Kampung Sungai Sam here today.
A Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Kelantan spokesman said they received an emergency call at 11.20 am before dispatching a team which reached the scene 35 minutes later.
'Upon arrival at the scene, the team found an express bus and a Perodua Myvi involved in a collision, with three victims, a man and two women, pinned in the Myvi car. Their bodies were handed over to the police,' he said in a statement today.
He said the bus driver sustained minor injuries and that the team used special equipment to extricate the victims pinned in the car.

'Firefighters from the Teluk Bahang Fire and Rescue Station were immediately sent to the scene after the victims shared their location via WhatsApp, indicating they were at Station 10 of the Teluk Bahang Forest Park. 'The firefighters hiked to the location and successfully found both individuals in an exhausted state. They were safely brought down to the foot of the hill at 10.51 pm,' he said in a statement. Both victims were later handed over to the medical team for further treatment.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 7.03pm and dispatched a team from Papar Fire Station. Nine firefighters arrived at the scene, 18 kilometres away, at 7.24pm. The fire was brought under control within two minutes using a hose reel and water from the fire engine.
