Indore: The
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
(NEET UG) was conducted under strict security arrangements at 49 centres across Indore on Sunday, with more than 27,000 students from the city and nearby districts appearing for the exam. Organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam was scheduled from 2pm to 5pm, but students began arriving as early as 9am to ensure timely entry.
By 11am, gates were opened for verification and entry, leading to long queues outside examination centres, many of which were private schools, govt schools, and colleges converted into exam venues for the day. Candidates, accompanied by anxious parents, waited in the scorching sun as officials carried out a stringent security and identification process.
Security protocols included biometric verification, facial recognition, and ID checks. The level of scrutiny was so intense that even minor items like hairpins, nose rings, earrings, and sacred threads were not permitted inside. Candidates were asked to remove them at the gates before entering.
A few centres reported technical glitches during the verification process due to issues with tablets and biometric machines, briefly halting the process. However, the problems were resolved within minutes, and entry resumed without major disruption.

Police personnel were stationed at all centres, with jammers installed at sensitive locations to prevent electronic malpractice. Observers and centre superintendents remained alert throughout. A control room was also set up at the Collector's office to oversee coordination and ensure a smooth examination process.
Students from Dhar, Ratlam, Jhabua, Ujjain, Khandwa, and other districts also appeared for the exam in Indore. Those allotted rural centres were facilitated with special bus services. Entry was closed strictly after 12:30 PM.
NEET expert Neeraj Dubey said that the paper was comparatively tougher than last year. Physics focused heavily on numerical and conceptual application, while Botany and Zoology were largely NCERT-based. Chemistry maintained a moderate difficulty level with a mix of factual and analytical questions. He noted that the paper favoured students who rigorously studied NCERT content.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: After a temporary halt, devotees visiting the revered Tulja Bhavani temple in Dharashiv district will soon receive laddoos as prasad, with Pune-based Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale roped in for preparation and supply. The Tulja Bhavani temple trust stopped distributing prasad some time ago after receiving several complaints regarding its quality. In a significant policy shift, the trust floated tenders in Sept 2024, inviting reputed firms to take over prasad preparation. This move was prompted by heightened concerns nationwide, particularly after allegations of the use of animal fat and fish oil in the prasad served at the Tirupati Balaji temple created a stir among devotees. Chitale Bandhu, known for its high standards in sweet preparation, was selected through a transparent bidding process. The Tulja Bhavani temple is one of Maharashtra's most important religious destinations. It is counted among the 51 Shakti Peethas in India and draws lakhs of pilgrims every year. The temple also holds a special place in Maratha history, with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj known to be a devout follower of the goddess. Officials said prasad distribution is likely to resume once the necessary logistics and packaging arrangements are finalised. The prasad will be made using pure ghee and traditional ingredients, aligning with the temple's cultural and spiritual heritage. More than 150 students attend in grievance redressal meeting in Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: More than 150 students, along with their parents, took part in a student grievance redressal meeting conducted at the Coimbatore district collectorate on Friday. As many as 55 petitions regarding bank loans, certificates, scholarships and NEET training programmes were represented during the meeting. District collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar convened the redressal meeting for students who cleared classes X, XI and XII board examinations. In his address, the collector said, 'This is aimed at achieving a 100% higher education enrollment rate. Earlier, career guidance programmes were organised during the month of May for those who have passed their Class XII exam. There are nearly 175 colleges in the district that cover all streams of arts, engineering, medical and law, but not many are aware of the details.' He said a handbook released during the 'Kalloori Kanavu' programme provided detailed information on colleges and courses available, duration of courses, eligibility, total number of seats and other significant details. 'The details are available in copy as well,' he said. The collector said not many students are aware of the Allied Health Science course available and that it has a lot of opportunities. However, to pursue that course, the students should have cleared a science major in Class XII board examination.
