Kia Carens Clavis EV launched in India with three-row seating and connected features: Price, booking details and more

Mint15-07-2025
Kia India has officially introduced its first mass-market electric vehicle with the launch of the Carens Clavis EV. Priced between ₹ 17.99 lakh and ₹ 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric version of the Carens Clavis marks the brand's entry into the growing EV segment aimed at urban families seeking larger electric mobility options.
Based on the localised version of Kia's E-GMP platform, the Carens Clavis EV borrows its underpinnings from the recently updated ICE variant of the same model. While retaining the familiar exterior design, the EV distinguishes itself with a closed grille that houses the charging port, full-width LED DRLs, and redesigned 17-inch aero alloy wheels. Ground clearance has also been slightly increased to 200 mm, 5 mm more than its petrol or diesel counterpart.
The vehicle is powered by a single electric motor producing 169 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. Kia claims the EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.4 seconds. Two battery options are being offered: a 51.4 kWh unit with a claimed range of 490 km and a smaller 42 kWh pack that delivers a range of 404 km (ARAI certified).
Inside, the Carens Clavis EV features a three-row seating configuration. Changes to the cabin include relocating the gear selector to the steering column, thereby freeing up space in the centre console. A new 26.6-inch panoramic display combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The EV also supports over 90 connected features, and carries forward equipment such as Level 2 ADAS, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, an integrated air purifier, and one-touch tumble seats for the second row.
Practicality has been bolstered with the inclusion of a 25-litre front trunk (frunk), in addition to boot space behind the third row. The vehicle supports both 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC charging. Kia has equipped over 100 of its dealerships with fast-charging infrastructure and claims to have access to more than 11,000 charging stations across the country.
Bookings for the Carens Clavis EV will commence on 22 July 2025. Kia is offering an eighyear or 160,000 km warranty on the battery as part of the vehicle package.

Highway Infrastructure IPO day 3 Live: GMP, subscription status to review. Apply or not?

Highway Infrastructure IPO day 3: The initial public offering (IPO) of Highway Infrastructure Limited opened on 5 July 2025 and will remain open until 7 August 2025. This means investors have just one day to apply for the public issue. The Indian infrastructure company has declared the Highway Infrastructure IPO price band at ₹ 65 to ₹ 70 per equity share. The company aims to raise ₹ 130 crore from this fresh capital-cum offer for sale. The public issue is proposed for listing on the BSE and the NSE. According to the Highway Infrastructure IPO subscription status, the public offer received a strong response from investors. It had been subscribed to its offer nearly 73 times after bidding on day 2. Meanwhile, company shares are available in the grey market at a robust premium. According to market observers, Highway Infrastructure shares are available at a premium of ₹ 41 in the grey market today. This is ₹ 3 higher than Wednesday's Highway Infrastructure IPO GMP of ₹ 38. Observers said that the Highway Infrastructure IPO GMP has surged despite the sell-off in the secondary market on Wednesday. They expected further improvement in the grey market sentiment regarding the Highway Infrastructure IPO once there is a trend reversal on Dalal Street. By 5:00 PM on day 2 of bidding, the public issue had been subscribed 72.92 times, the retail portion had been booked 73.55 times, the NII portion had been filled 97.70 times, whereas the QIB segment had been booked 7.10 times. Assigning a 'subscribe' tag to the public issue, Anand Rathi says, "At the upper price band, the company is valued at a FY25 P/E of 22.5x, with a post-issue market capitalisation of ₹ 5,020 million. It presents a niche opportunity in India's tollway and EPC infrastructure space, supported by consistent growth and a robust order book. Using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology in toll systems provides a competitive advantage, while the combination of toll and EPC businesses offers diversified revenue streams. Considering these factors, the IPO seems fully priced, and a "SUBSCRIBE – LONG TERM" recommendation is suggested." On whether one should apply for the IPO, Arun Kejriwal, Founder of Kejriwal Research and Investment Services, said, "Infra is a segment where a four-digit order book is a common phenomenon. Looking at the Highway Infrastructure IPO size of ₹ 130 crore, it seems the company has limited opportunity, and the public issue is on the borderline of SME and mainboard." Highway Infrastructure IPO allotment date is most likely on 8 August, while Highway Infrastructure IPO listing date is most likely on 12 August 2025. Indian Railways partners Indofast Energy to roll out battery swap stations in Hyderabad, Secunderabad

In a major step towards promoting sustainable mobility, Indian Railways has partnered with Indofast Energy — a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility — to deploy a network of battery swapping stations across key railway hubs in the Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions. As part of this initiative, 80 battery swap stations have already been installed across 25 railway stations (56 in Secunderabad and 24 in Hyderabad), with plans to add 40 more stations in the next three months. These facilities aim to support electric two- and three-wheelers, helping ease last-mile connectivity for commuters, delivery partners and ride-sharing operators. The initiative, led by South Central Railway , marks the first-of-its-kind collaboration between Indian Railways and a private partner to deploy EV charging infrastructure within station premises. It also aligns with the Railway Board's policy push to encourage e-mobility at railway stations. Indofast Energy CEO Anant Badjatya said, 'We are immensely proud to partner with Indian Railways on this transformative journey,' he said. Expansion plans Indofast Energy plans to set up over 10,000 swap stations across 40+ cities in the next three years, targeting more than one million EV users. With this collaboration, Indian Railways takes a significant stride toward building a cleaner, more efficient urban transit system. South Central Railway Divisional Manager R Gopalakrishnan added, 'This initiative not only enhances passenger convenience but also reduces emissions and congestion around stations. It showcases how public-private collaboration can accelerate India's green mobility goals.'

Parking to vending zones: Consultant to help Greater Noida to overhaul civic infrastructure

Noida: To create better-managed public spaces, improve last-mile connectivity, and explore new revenue streams, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority is set to appoint consultants to support the planning and execution of key urban infrastructure projects across the city. It has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified firms with expertise in urban planning, survey-based strategy formulation, and infrastructure implementation. A major focus of the consultants' scope will be thorough revamp of bus stands across the city. These will be integrated with EV charging stations, in line with GNIDA's push for sustainable urban mobility. The consultant will also be tasked with identifying suitable locations for surface and multi-level parking structures, to address parking shortages and decongest busy commercial areas. The hired consultant will develop dedicated vending zones in various sectors. In light of the rise in unauthorized kiosks and shops along roadsides, the Authority plans to regulate street vending by identifying suitable locations for legal vending zones, based on surveys of local demand, traffic patterns, and public convenience. Simultaneously, non-vending zones will be clearly marked to prevent congestion and encroachment in high-traffic areas, to ensure smooth pedestrian and vehicular movement. The consultant will also identify spots to set up small food kiosks or micro-markets. These facilities are intended to support local entrepreneurship and provide structured, hygienic spaces for small vendors to operate, officials said. Another major area of focus is advertisement infrastructure. GNIDA earns significant revenue through unipoles and billboards across the city. The selected consultant will explore opportunities to expand advertisement spaces in a planned manner. The scope of work includes conducting detailed surveys, preparing strategies, developing 2D and 3D layout plans, drafting Request for Proposals (RFPs) for each component, and providing implementation support during project execution. Firms applying must have prior experience in similar urban development projects and should be well-versed with local regulations of Greater Noida.
