The raids have resulted in the recovery of 778 gm of heroin, 17 quintals of poppy husk, 18,671 intoxicating tablets, capsules and ₹44,710 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.
Special DGP (law and order) Arpit Shukla said that over 180 police teams, comprising over 1,100 police personnel, under the supervision of 82 gazetted officers, conducted raids across the state. 'Police teams have also checked as many as 406 suspicious persons during the day-long operation,' he added.
Shukla said that as part of the state government's strategy of enforcement, de-addiction and prevention (EDP), the police have sent 68 persons to undergo rehabilitation treatment.

Chandigarh: Waris Punjab De chief and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh , currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), is willing to undergo a dope test , his lawyer said. The statement comes in response to allegations of drug abuse levelled by his own associates, as mentioned in a Punjab Police chargesheet filed in the Ajnala court last month. Advocate Imaan Singh Khara, who serves as the legal advisor and chief spokesperson of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De recently met Amritpal in Dibrugarh jail. He told the TOI, "Bhai Sahib (Amritpal Singh) has said that instead of levelling false allegations, Punjab Police may get his dope test done. He has said if Punjab police want, they can come to Dibrugarh to get the test done." Khara added that Amritpal has demanded that once he undergoes a dope test, the political leaders accusing him of drug abuse should also be made to take the test. As per the police chargesheet, Amritpal's two associates, Bhagwant Singh alias and Varinder Singh Fauji, in their disclosure statements recorded before the police, claimed that Amritpal was "hooked on drugs" in Punjab and "consumed them in Assam's Dibrugarh jail too". On Thursday, when brought to a court in Amritsar in connection with the Feb 2023 Ajnala police station attack case, Bhagwant Singh 'Pradhan Mantri Bajeke' was heard shouting and denying that he made any statement on Amritpal taking drugs. As he saw the media persons, Bajeke, who was escorted by policemen, alleged that "we were beaten up and made to sign thousands of papers and recorded on video." Khara said he met Amritpal in Dibrugarh jail on July 24 in connection with "a writ petition we will file in the Supreme Court to challenge the NSA" under which Amritpal is detained in Dibrugarh jail for the third consecutive year now. Khara said, "It took two suitcases of documents weighing around 25 kg, which I brought from Dibrugarh jail, to prepare the grounds for the writ petition to challenge the NSA in the Supreme Court. The documents include challan papers in Hari Nau (Gurpreet Singh) murder case, papers of grounds of detention of NSA, order of detention, and others. The documents are very voluminous and are in both English and Punjabi language. These are single-size printed legal size papers." Pakistan-linked arms rackets busted in Amritsar, 9 arrested
Amritsar: In coordinated operations targeting Pakistan-linked cross-border arms trafficking, Punjab Police on Friday announced the arrest of nine individuals — including a juvenile — and the seizure of 13 sophisticated pistols in a major crackdown on smuggling modules. Director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the counter-intelligence (CI) team in Amritsar had dismantled a Pakistan-backed network, arresting five operatives and recovering six pistols — four 9mm Glock handguns and two .30-bore pistols — along with magazines and ammunition. The arrested individuals were Jagroop Singh of Dhun, Navdeep Singh of Patti Lahian Di, Gurlal Singh of Rajoke, and Joban Singh of Patti Mana Ki — all from Tarn Taran district — along with Arshdeep Singh of Shaliwal in Amritsar district. Police believe they were acting on instructions from a Pakistan-based smuggler known as Rana, tasked with delivering arms to criminal gangs in Punjab to destabilise the sensitive border region. In a separate but parallel development, Amritsar police commissionerate uncovered two more smuggling modules, arresting four more suspects, including a 17-year-old, and seizing seven pistols. Police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the weapons haul included two Glock pistols, four .30-bore Star pistols, one .32-bore pistol, six live cartridges, and a motorcycle used for consignment delivery. Those arrested in the commissionerate operation were Sikanderjeet Singh (19) of Bhagwanpura in Tarn Taran; Pradeep Singh 'Babbal' (43) of Antaryami Colony, Amritsar; Jarnail Singh (34) of New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Amritsar; and the unnamed juvenile from Tarn Taran. Preliminary investigations revealed that some suspects lived near the international border and retrieved drone-dropped weapons from designated coordinates. Bhullar said the weapons were linked to gang rivalries and intended to spark unrest. Two of the suspects, Pradeep and Jarnail, were associates of the late gangster Ravneet Singh 'Sonu Mota', who had rivalries with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. "The weapons recovered were supplied by Pakistan-based handlers and handed over to the accused prior to Sonu Mota's death," Bhullar said, adding that the timely seizure had likely prevented a major criminal incident. Use official portal to land jobs abroad, says MEA authority
Panaji: The protector of emigrants for Karnataka and Goa, ministry of external affairs, Avaneesh Shukla, during his recent two-day visit to the state asked potential job-seekers to use the official eMigrate portal — for accessing information on overseas jobs, licensed recruitment agents, and emigration clearance. During his outreach programme, Shukla suggested that emigrants attend to the dos and don'ts of overseas employment, and emphasised the importance of making informed decisions. He also recommended using the 24x7 helpline number, +91-11-2688-5021, available through the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra, for availing help on migration. A toll-free number, 1800 11 3090, a WhatsApp support number, 7428321144, and an email ID, helpline@ are also available to verify methods of immigration, said Shukla. Over the last year, the state witnessed numerous cases of fake agencies offering jobs abroad and cheating job aspirants. Chief minister Pramod Sawant, earlier this year, said job scams cost the state nearly Rs 100 crore a year. Enforcement bodies are keeping tabs on agencies offering jobs abroad. The NRI commission too has been regularly warning job-seekers to go through proper channels so as not to fall prey to fraudsters. Shukla also listed the licensed and registered overseas hiring agencies functioning in Goa, and requested jobseekers to confirm the credentials of the agencies before accepting employment opportunities abroad. He said that as of Aug 2025, there are only 12 legitimate agencies in Goa that facilitate overseas employment services.
