Champions Barcelona ease to opening win at Mallorca
Mallorca's Manu Morlanes and Vedat Muriqi were sent off within six first-half minutes after Raphinha and Ferran Torres struck early for the Spanish champions.
'These are three very important points, but I didn't like the match. The team dropped their intensity too much in the second half, that's not acceptable. We need to talk about it,' Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said.
Raphinha headed home after seven minutes and Torres doubled the lead in the 23rd minute to put the Spanish champions in command.
Mallorca players complained to the referee, saying they had stopped playing when a teammate went down in the lead-up to Torres's goal, but the referee was unmoved.
'I always tell my players not to stop until the referee blows the final whistle. It's the referee who has to decide,' Flick said.
Morlanes was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Lamine Yamal after 33 minutes and Muriqi received a straight red after his high challenge caught Joan Garcia.
Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, was sent on in the 69th minute for his debut, becoming the first Englishman to play a first-team game for Barcelona since former England striker Gary Lineker in 1989.
Yamal found the top corner with an excellent shot four minutes into stoppage time to complete the visitors' comfortable win.
Barcelona travel to Levante next Saturday, when Mallorca host Celta Vigo. — Reuters

Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Alonso, loved by Real fans for his trophy-laden playing years at the Bernabeu and with Spain, has been charged with reviving a Madrid side that ended last season without a major trophy. In the Club World Cup, which was Alonso's first competition as Real coach, they were knocked out by Paris St Germain in a 4-0 semi-final loss last month. Real, under Italian Carlo Ancelotti, finished four points behind LaLiga champions Barcelona and failed to retain their Champions League crown after a quarter-final exit. They also lost the Copa del Rey final to bitter rivals Barca. "I'm more about doing than talking," Alonso told reporters. "Making promises before you act doesn't usually work in football. Just saying it is not going to make it happen. We want to start down that path tomorrow. "We are really excited and want to bring that energy to the stadium and earn their (the fans') support." Alonso has bolstered Real's defence with England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold joining from Liverpool along with Bournemouth's 20-year-old Spain centre-back Dean Huijsen and left back Alvaro Carrera from Benfica. The reinforcements address last season's defensive troubles that deflated Real's title challenge. Defender Dani Carvajal, who is easing his way back after last season's ACL injury, has been named in Real's squad to face Osasuna. "It's great competition for the players, and I love that we have two who can play in each position," said Alonso. "Sometimes I will have to rotate. The December 20 fixture, approved by the Spanish Football Federation last week, could become the first LaLiga match held abroad and the first European league game in the United States. It requires approval from UEFA, US Soccer, CONCACAF and FIFA. "I very much agree with the club's (Real's) statement. If the rules are to be changed, it must be by unanimous agreement of all the participants (in the league). Otherwise, it cannot be done," Alonso said. Joao Felix says late Jota ‘will forever be part of football history'
HONG KONG, Aug 18 — Joao Felix said today that Portugal team-mate and close friend Diogo Jota will 'forever be a part of football history' following the Liverpool star's death aged 28. Jota was killed along with brother Andre Silva when their Lamborghini went off the road in northern Spain on July 3. Just 11 days prior to the accident, the Portuguese forward had married Rute Cardoso, the mother of his three children. The Premier League remembered Jota over the weekend in a series of moving tributes. Adding his voice to the outpouring of grief across the football world, Felix looked visibly moved as he spoke about his good friend and international colleague. Felix, who was among the mourners at the brothers' funeral, said: 'Diogo to me was one of my best friends in the national team, he was always part of our mini group in the national team, those of us who were always together. 'I knew his family, especially his parents, an incredible family.'
