Japanese-American racing driver and content creator Hana Burton, along with rally driver Maaya Orido, took part in the FIA Girls on Track program in Tokyo on the sidelines of the Tokyo E-Prix to do their bit in encouraging several young girls to take up motorsport as a career option.
As part of the program, young girls between 12 and 18 had the chance to participate in workshops, gaming, career talks, and a Pit Lane walk under the FIA's initiative to promote empowerment and education in motorsport and engineering. 120 girls also had the opportunity to take an immersive E-Karting masterclass.

Sharing a few pictures from the Girls on Track program during the Tokyo E-Prix, Hana Burton wrote on Instagram, 'Can you guess what I'm explaining about the car in the first pic? LOVED being a part of the @fia.official @fiaformulae Girls on Track event at @citycircuit.tokyobay again this year, also had the chance to speak at the event stage at the E-Prix about my career.'
'And thankfully it was sunny this year so the girls got to have a go with the EV karts! There were many great questions about being a part of the Motorsport world as a woman. It's lovely to see the progress involving us in the space and I'm grateful to now be in a position to offer advice to many brilliant young women!! Thanks you for having me and @maaya_orido_559!!' she added.
Another Formula E driver, Maaya Orido, also shared happy pictures from the Girls on Track program in Tokyo. She wrote along with them in Japanese, 'I went to Girls on Track again this year. I rarely have the chance to talk and interact with women like this, so I had a lot of fun interacting with so many people this year. It was my first time riding a tandem kart, but it was so much fun. It was a great experience again this year! Thank you.

Walton Goggins breaks silence on Aimee Lou Wood feud rumours, tears up about wife's tragic death: ‘I love this woman madly'

Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood, who played a romantic couple in the third season of HBO's White Lotus, addressed rumours of a fallout in an interview with Variety. The on-screen couple, once inseparable while playing Rick and Chelsea, had been at the centre of feud rumours ever since season 3 wrapped up. From the SNL parody to a quiet Instagram unfollow, the signs were all there. But the two are shutting it all down. They kicked things off with a 30-second hug, traded compliments, and then calmly said what needed to be said: 'There is no feud.' Also read: Are Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood feuding after on-set romance gone wrong? White Lotus 3 controversy explained 'I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me,' Goggins said. With tears in his eyes, he continued, 'This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything — and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be… She is love, and I know I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.' During the conversation, Goggins explained that he always goes underground after completing an emotional task. This time, it was the show, and more than that, the backdrop, which was Thailand. He opened up about the most painful time in his life, when he spent months in the country back in 2004, after his wife died by suicide. So, returning to the same place years later for the shoot made everything feel heavier. After the wrap, he didn't speak to anyone. 'I couldn't handle it,' he says. 'Judge me or don't. This is my process.' Right there, during the interview, he picked up his phone and re-followed Aimee on Instagram. They laughed about how ridiculous things can get. 'It's just a part of me saying goodbye to this character,' he said. 'So now Aimee and I can be friends forever.' In return, she hugged him and said, 'I completely understand.' He went, 'I love you.' About why the duo unfollowed each other, Wood explained, 'Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don't give a shite about Instagram… Eventually I just started to sit back and watch these people making something out of absolutely nothing.' Also read: White Lotus star Walton Goggins flaunts his newfound sex symbol status on SNL, jokes about his receding hairline Earlier, a headline from Goggins' Times interview floated around, with the actor reportedly saying, 'Walton Goggins: Aimee Lou Wood? I'm not gonna have that conversation.' Goggins said the talk was taken completely out of context. He explained he refused to talk about her not because there's a feud, but because she wasn't there to speak for herself, and because one of the journalist's questions compared their teeth. 'It was disgusting,' he said. 'So appalling I ended the interview.' Goggins added, 'What he was insinuating, I was flabbergasted. And I said, 'Fu** mate, wow. I think we're done here.'' Aimee had earlier publicly criticised the Saturday Night Live sketch of White Lotus 3 that mocked her appearance, especially her teeth, a parody she thought was mean-spirited. For Goggins, he had no idea and claimed he'd innocently reposted it because Jon Hamm did an impression of him, he hadn't seen the full sketch and didn't realise how Aimee felt. When he saw her reaction, he deleted his post immediately. He felt awful. Aimee said she didn't want anyone to think she was upset with Goggins for hosting SNL. She said, 'Of course Walton should host SNL! He's had a huge career!' She just didn't like how the sketch reduced her to a joke about her looks, not the comedy, but the tone felt off to her. 'It felt misogynistic,' she said, because the joke was about how she looked, not something she did. 'Then the next day, I made a vicious swipe against my friend. I've been posting for 14 fu*** years,' Goggins added. 'And if I'm gonna say something, but I'm gonna say it to your face,' he says. 'I don't use social media in any way, and I'm not a mean guy.'

The White Lotus stars Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood say 'there is no feud', reveal why he unfollowed her on Instagram

The White Lotus season 3 not only broke viewership records when it was released earlier this year but also generated its fair share of controversies. The popular show featured a new on-screen pairing: Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood. If rumour mills were to be believed, the two had an infamous falling out after the show, with Walton unfollowing Aimee on Instagram. However, the duo has now rubbished those reports, saying there is no feud. In a joint interaction with Variety, their first since the show's release, Walton opened up: 'There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me. This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I'll be on an island, I think Greece. But she's special. There is no feud. She is love, and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.' The actor was on the verge of choking up as he praised his co-star. The rumours of the feud began when Walton unfollowed Aimee on Instagram right after the show began streaming. Addressing this, she said, 'I think it's such a comment on where we're at culturally. Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don't give a shite about Instagram. Why not have conversations about the story and Rick and Chelsea (their characters) and enjoy it?' Aimee added that initially, she wanted to address the reports, but then 'just started to sit back and watch these people making something out of absolutely nothing'. Created by Mike White, The White Lotus is a black comedy anthology with each season set in a new luxury resort around the world. Season 3 was set in Thailand, and starred Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Rockwell and Scott Glenn. It received critical acclaim.

Gamers get hold of Nintendo's hotly awaited Switch 2

Gamers on Thursday finally got their hands on Nintendo's new Switch 2 console, which could score record early sales for the Japanese "Super Mario" creator. Featuring a bigger screen and more processing power, the device is an upgrade to the Switch, which became a global phenomenon with hit games such as "Animal Crossing". The original Switch has sold 152 million units since its 2017 release, making it the third best-selling console ever. At a Tokyo electronics store on Thursday morning, Nintendo fans -- including 24-year-old Lei Wang, a recent graduate from China -- queued to collect their devices. He had been "shocked" to win a pre-order lottery, as none of his friends had been selected. Live Events "It's basically just me who got picked... so I don't really want to say anything" to them, he laughed. "The improved graphics and the ability to play with a larger group -- I think that's a big deal," she said. Serkan Toto from Tokyo consultancy Kantan Games said he "would not be surprised to see Switch 2 breaking sales records in the next weeks and months". In Japan, Nintendo's online store had 2.2 million pre-order applications for the Switch 2 -- an "insane number the industry has never seen before", Toto told AFP. Worth the price? The Switch 2 has eight times the memory of the first Switch, and its controllers, which attach with magnets, can also be used like a desktop computer mouse. New functions allowing users to chat as they play online and temporarily share games with friends could also be a big draw for young audiences used to watching game streamers. Nintendo has its work cut out to match the overall success of the original, however. Challenges include uncertainty over US trade tariffs and whether it can convince enough people to pay the high price for its new device. The Switch 2 costs $449.99 in the United States, more than the original's launch price of $299.99. Both are hybrid consoles which can connect to a TV or be played on the go. New Switch 2 games such as "Donkey Kong Bananza" and "Mario Kart World" -- which allow players to go exploring off-grid -- are also more expensive than existing titles. "After playing it, I think it's worth the price," 24-year-old aspiring filmmaker Steven Paterno told AFP at a Nintendo launch event in New York City. "I loved the original Switch, but I had to admit the Switch 2 really tops it." Cancelled pre-orders Retailers in the United States, Europe and other major markets are gearing up for a rush of excited fans, with some stores opening at midnight to welcome them. "I'm very excited to pick it up at midnight," 22-year-old graduate Angel Caceres said at the New York launch event. "I'm going to be very tired after that." Supply pressures have forced some retailers to cancel orders, with Britain's Game saying it is "working hard to reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible". Nintendo forecasts it will ship 15 million Switch 2 consoles in the current financial year, roughly equal to the original console in the same period after its release. The Switch 2 "is priced relatively high" compared to its predecessor, the company's president Shuntaro Furukawa said at a financial results briefing in May. So it "will not be easy" to keep initial momentum going, he warned. While Nintendo is diversifying into theme parks and hit movies, around 90 percent of its revenue still comes from the Switch business, analysts say.
