Man arrested after fatal 'stabbing' on Aberdeen street as cops continue probe
A male has been arrested after a 24-year-old man died following an alleged stabbing on an Aberdeen street.
Officers from Police Scotland were called to the Pennan Road area of the granite city at around 12.35am on Thursday, July 10 after receiving a report of a man being found with stab wounds.
It came following a disturbance at a property in Coningham Terrace in the Tillydrone area of the city. The 24-year-old man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His next of kin are aware.
A 25-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the death as enquiries remain ongoing.
Yesterday, a significant police presence was spotted in the area as forensics scoured a garden on the street. Additional officers remain in the area.
Images showed a sizable cordon in place as cops in uniform stood guard. Officers in white suits were seen taking photos and combing over a path outside a flat.
Detective Inspector James Callander from the Major Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at what is an extremely difficult time.
"Officers are offering support and keeping them updated with the progress of our investigation. Additional officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns can approach these officers.'
Police will continue to remain in the Tillydrone area of the city in order to reassure the local community.
Chief Inspector Darren Bruce, Local Area Commander said yesterday: 'We understand this will be a concerning incident for the local community.
'There will be a continued visible police presence in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to these officers.'

Her sentence, handed out at Birmingham Crown Court, was designed "to both punish and deter". But her husband, former West Northamptonshire councillor Raymond Connolly, was among several politicians to react with anger. Nigel Farage previously called for her release and called her jail term "absolutely excessive". Speaking at an event in May, Mr Farage, who is Leader of Reform, said: "I want to make it absolutely clear: Lucy Connolly should not be in prison. "While she should not have said what she said, understand there were millions of mothers at that moment in time after Southport feeling exactly the same way." Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: "People have received less time in jail — or no time — for actual physical and sexual assaults." However, Sir Keir Starmer has defended the sentence, saying he would "always support" the UK court system. But Connolly, from Northampton, is likely to be released next month, having served just 40 per cent of her term. Following the Southport atrocities, there was a wave of unrest across the country with migrants being targeted in attacks at hotels. Urgent search for man missing from Anderston Quay in Glasgow
Emanuel Howell was last seen in the Anderston Quay area at around 6.50am yesterday, Wednesday, July 30. He is described as being around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with black dreadlocks and black facial hair. Police Scotland is urging anyone who may have seen Emanuel or the vehicle to come forward as soon as possible. Family of 10 'leave without paying for £328 meal' as pub boss left fuming
The landlady of the local pub said the 'brazen' family left after complaining about their meal. A furious landlady has accused a family of ten of "barging their way out" of a popular Welsh pub without settling £328 bill. Kelly Jollife, who runs the Greyhound Inn in Usk, said the group turned up on Sunday July 27. She claims they enjoyed a starter and a main course, ate their full meals and then refused to pay for anything other than their drinks, reports the Mirror. The 49-year-old, who's been running the pub for eight years, claimed the family strolled out after only offering to pay for their drinks, leaving her stunned at what she described as a shocking act of "selfishness". And she told how the group even "barged past" kitchen staff as they bolted to their two cars and drove off. Police have confirmed they are investigating an allegation of theft. Kelly said: "They looked at me as they were walking out as if to say, 'you can't do anything anyway so, tough'. "When they first came in they were not particularly nice to begin with. I had explained to them it was table service but they kept insisting on coming up to the bar. That kind of thing. They were gonna do it their way. So they ordered starters, mains and ate all the starters, then half way through their mains the waiter went to check if everything was ok, and they said, 'no it is all s**t. Everything is s**t. It is all just shocking'. "Then the waiter said 'do you want me to get the manager' to which they said, 'yes, but after we have finished'. They proceeded to eat everything. We had 150 people in house, and 140 of them left happy. Everybody, was happy. "I was then called and I said 'they are going to have to come and speak with me. I want full payment - they have eaten everything'. The waiter told them this and they replied with 'no - we are not paying. We will pay for the drinks but we are not paying for the food'. This was obviously unacceptable. "All of a sudden they started walking out. I went straight to the table with the card machine to say 'you need to pay this bill' - it was £328 worth. They put £44 on the table in cash, and walked out. I followed them down the path with some of my chefs as they are bigger than me, and one of the older guys in the family started fronting up the chefs. "The chefs just said 'look, you are an embarrassment, just pay the bill'. There was not a fist fight or anything, it was mainly verbal. Kelly revealed she has contacted Gwent Police about the alleged incident, and said there had been a tremendous reaction on social media after she shared details of what happened, reports Wales Online. She explained the post was designed to "embarrassing" those supposedly involved, stating: "It is not the way to behave." She continued: "But the response I had on Facebook was just phenomenal. Everybody is so supportive." A spokesperson for Gwent Police stated: "We're investigating an allegation of theft in Usk Road, Llantrisant, which occurred around 3pm on Sunday 27 July. Officers are speaking to several people to establish the circumstances and enquiries continue."
