Arab News28-01-2025
JUBA: South Sudan authorities have lifted the temporary ban on Facebook and TikTok, which was imposed last week following the circulation of videos depicting the alleged killings of South Sudanese nationals in Sudan. The graphic images, which sparked violent protests and retaliatory killings across the country, have been removed from the social media platforms, the National Communications Authority said in a Jan.27 letter to telecoms and Internet providers'The rise of violence linked to social media content in South Sudan underscores the need for a balanced approach that addresses the root causes of online incitement while protecting the rights of the population,' Napoleon Adok Gai, the director of the National Communications Authority, said in the letter.Rights groups blamed the Sudanese army and its allies for ethnically-targeted attacks on civilians in Sudan's El Gezira state earlier this month, after they captured the state capital Wad Madani from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The Sudanese army condemned what it called 'individual violations,' which were captured on video and shared widely on social media.

Dozens killed in attack on Sudan camp for people who had fled war

KHARTOUM — At least 40 people have been killed in an attack on a camp for displaced people in Sudan's western Darfur region, according to an aid group that works there. The Abu Shouk Emergency Response Room said Monday's assault was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The resistance committee in nearby el-Fasher city, made up of local citizens and activists, also reported this. El-Fasher, which came under intense attack as well, is the last major foothold in Darfur for the army and its allies, which have been fighting the paramilitary RSF in the two-year civil war. The conflict has triggered a humanitarian crisis with the UN warning that families trapped in the besieged city faced starvation. Sudanese media reported that the camp was caught in the crossfire of the fighting in el-Fasher. But the aid group inside Abu Shouk, where at least 200,000 people live, said some of those killed in the attack were shot in their homes while others were gunned down in public.A US-based organisation that analyses satellite imagery and videos said that it identified a large grouping of 40 light vehicles in the north-west neighbourhoods of the camp, which appear to corroborate reports that the attack came from the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab added that it was investigating images and videos "allegedly showing RSF shooting at people crawling away from them and berating and using ethnic slurs".The camp was created more than two decades ago by people from non-Arab communities - including the Fur and Zaghawa - who were fleeing attacks by the Janjaweed RSF has its origins in this notorious militia that was accused of carrying out a RSF has also been widely accused of ethnic cleansing in Darfur during this war, and the US has sanctioned it with allegations of RSF has previously denied such charges, saying it is not part of what it calls tribal fighters have joined the army in defending el-Fasher, so it is possible that the RSF was deliberately targeting Zaghawa civilians in the camps for displaced people near el-Fasher have frequently come under attack during the April, more than 100 people died and thousands fled Zamzam camp as the RSF occupied it and took it the conflict began in April 2023, tens of thousands of people have died, 12 million have been forced from their homes and famine has been declared in parts of the country. — BBC

Sudanese PM thanks Saudi leadership for unlimited humanitarian support

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris thanked the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for their unlimited humanitarian support for the Sudanese people in light of the circumstances facing his country. He noted that this fraternal stance is an exemplary example of Arab and Islamic solidarity and a dedication to the principles of brotherhood and humanity. The Sudanese leader commended the efforts of Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, advisor at the Royal Court and supervisor general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and the centre's ongoing support for Sudan, embodied by the sea bridge of medical aid. This included the dispatch of vital medical equipment and supplies, generators, and oxygen stations, in addition to the establishment of more than 40 treatment camps that have contributed to alleviating the suffering of thousands of patients and providing health services to those in need. Idris indicated that Saudi Arabia's contributions through KSRelief are an extension of a solid historical relationship, as the centre's support represented approximately 60 percent of the total aid provided to Sudan through partners during the initial phase of the war. The Sudanese prime minister asked God Almighty to safeguard Saudi Arabia and its wise leadership and to reward them abundantly.

Palestinians Face Ongoing Nakba of Suffering and Loss: American Comedian

Guy Christensen, an American social media influencer and comedian, said that Palestinians are experiencing an ongoing Nakba that brings more suffering and loss. In a video that went viral on social media, Christensen said that the last few pages of Gaza war speak about the mass ethnic cleansing and displacement. 'My heart is so heavy. This is the end, the last chapter of the genocide. This book ends the same way with the same words that it began with. This is about the land. It is the Zionist leaders who say it. These last few pages speak about the mass ethnic cleansing and displacement,' he said. He added that he was only 17 years old when he started to know about Palestinians' suffering. 'I was a senior in high school watching Israel bombing Al-Shifaa Hospital and murdering thousands just a few days after October 7. Now they bombed every hospital and every school. Everything normal about Gaza has been destroyed. Every building has been bombed. Hundreds of thousands are dead,' Christensen said. @ ♬ original sound – Deteriorating Humanitarian Conditions The TikTok comedian noted that he is now 19 years old, watching the Palestinians being put into concentration camps allured by the promise of food that is not enough under a fake humanitarian organization that Israel fund it. 'That will eventually lead to the Palestinians being ethnically cleansed out of Gaza and never to return,' he said. Moreover, they will see the Israelis taking control of their homes and lands. 'I am ashamed of our world's failure to put a stop to this. I am ashamed of the United States government. This is our genocide, not just Israel. We are all stained red, and we are bloody because of this,' he concluded.
