Somerset in Pictures: Stretching out for summer
It was warm and clear again across Somerset this week, making for beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Both Somerset's men and women cricketers have been in action at Taunton, and a new festival is in the works at Chew Valley Lake.
Elsewhere, a Manchester United legend lent his expertise to the county's "worst football team".
Early risers: A small group of people took part in a lakeside yoga session at Chew Valley Lake, led by Safia Al Maghrabi, in the run-up to the first ever Fire in Your Soul festival, which will take place from 4-6 July.
Expert advice: Former Manchester United and England player Gary Neville visited the "Best Worst Team", Tunley Athletic FC, as part of the Specsavers promotion to help the club find success.
Ladies first: Somerset's women played Surrey last weekend ahead of the men's county game which started on Friday.
By the seaside: The sunny weather this week has generated some lovely coastal photographs such as this one taken at Weston-super-Mare.
Cutting the ribbon: A new dementia care home was opened in Yeovil this week by its first resident Julie and special guest Fred Dinenage MBE. The home has 66 beds and specialises in people with Alzheimer's.
Man's best friend: Mikey captured this cute dog in a field of yellow flowers near Glastonbury this week.

Rain halts play in Sri Lanka-Bangladesh cricket match with draw looking likely in Galle
GALLE, Sri Lanka (AP) — Rain forced an early lunch on the final day of the first cricket test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Saturday, frustrating Bangladesh's hopes of pushing for a rare victory away from home. Just 80 minutes of play was possible on Saturday morning before the showers began, bringing a halt to what promised to be an absorbing final day. With dark clouds and covers firmly in place, the umpires sensibly called for an early lunch. Bangladesh, which has won only seven of its 66 away tests, held the upper hand at the end of Day 4 by reaching 177-3 in its second innings to lead by 187 runs. Bangladesh extended its second-innings score to 237 for four — a lead of 247 — before the weather turned Saturday. The only wicket to fall Saturday morning was the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim, who fell agonizingly short of a half-century, run out for 49 in the last play before the interruption. Mushfiqur nudged a shot to mid-on and set off in pursuit of his half-century. But debutant Tharindu Rathnayake swooped on the ball and rifled in a bullet throw to catch the batter just short. At the other end, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was 89 not out. The left-hander has marshaled the innings with poise, guiding his team into a position of strength. With six wickets still in hand and a healthy cushion on the board, Bangladesh is well ahead in the game. But the looming threat wasn't spin or reverse swing, but the weather. ___ AP cricket:

Jon Bernthal To Return As The Punisher In 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
One of the great things about Marvel Studios and Sony working together is that it allows the live-action Spider-Man franchise to incorporate other beloved Marvel characters outside of Sony's Spider-Man rights. As such, it's been announced that Punisher actor Jon Bernthal will reprise his role for the upcoming MCU project Spider-Man: Brand New Day . The new film will be the fourth live-action solo Spider-Man film set in the MCU, all of which have starred Tom Holland as the titular webslinger. Now it looks like Holland will be working alongside Bernthal who played the Punisher in both Daredevil shows, his own spin-off series, and an upcoming Punisher special for Disney Plus in addition to other MCU appearances. We previously reported back in 2021 that Marvel Studios was interested in having Jon Bernthal appear in a Spider-Man film, and not only that, but that they wanted Bernthal to return in a solo project as well. This does line up with the new announcement, as shared via THR, which confirms Bernthal is returning in the newest Spider-Man entry: 'Bernthal has joined Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day , the latest Spider-Man movie from Sony and Marvel. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature, which will shoot in England this summer.' In addition to Holland and Bernthal, the film will also feature MCU stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, in addition to newcomer Sadie Sink in an unknown role. Many details regarding the projects are being kept under wraps, including what other characters or plot details fans will get to expect, but hopefully more information will be shared in the near future. Especially now that we know The Punisher will somehow be involved. Fans will be able to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day when it hits theaters next year on July 31, 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated MCU blockbuster as we have them.
