Neco Williams signs new Nottingham Forest contract through to 2029
Neco Williams has signed a new contract at Nottingham Forest through to 2029. The versatile defender was a key figure in Nuno Espirito Santo's side in 2024-25, as the club secured European football for the first time in three decades. While signed as a right-back when he joined from Liverpool for £17million in July 2022, the Wales international thrived at left-back for much of last season, as he made 39 appearances in all competitions. Advertisement The 24-year-old has made 107 appearances overall for Forest, signing after they won promotion to the Premier League. His previous deal was due to expire at the end of the forthcoming 2025-26 campaign. Williams scored his second goal for Forest in the 7-0 drubbing of Brighton in February, following his first against former club Liverpool, at Anfield, in a 3-2 defeat in April 2023. Since being given a chance under previous head coach Steve Cooper, Williams' performances went up another level last season as Forest secured a seventh-place finish. 'This club has come so far in recent years and I am proud to be on the journey,' said Williams in a club statement. 'Everyone knows how ambitious our owner is and I'm grateful to him for showing belief in me and showing belief in the club. The future is exciting. 'I am really happy here and I can't wait to get back to work and go again. The fans at this club are special. 'We are all looking forward to having those European nights at the City Ground and as a team we want to create more memories for everyone attached to Forest.' (Main image: Nottingham Forest FC)
