Texas A&M should go after Santa Clara transfer center
Texas A&M's 2024-2025 season ended at the hands of 5-seed Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night, which led to the realization that the eight seniors would depart the program and the most significant era of Texas A&M basketball, led by the program's all-time scoring guard Wade Taylor IV.
Entering an offseason filled with needs at every position, head coach Buzz Williams must utilize the transfer portal to the fullest extent possible. Forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington are the only key contributors assumed to return to the roster, while the backcourt depth is completely depleted with Zhuric Phelps and Manny Obaseki also departing.
While guard depth will likely be the first position addressed, given the number of veteran guards in the portal, Williams needs to add another big man to pair with Phelps. Why not add a 7'0" playmaker with ball skills? Welcome German Santa Clara center Christoph Tilly, who moved like a guard and is coming off his best season after averaging 12.5 points per game.
Again, Texas A&M needs more playmakers without Wade Taylor IV to rely on, and looking back on Buzz Williams' career coaching Marquette, Virginia Tech, and now, with Pharrel Phelps at A&M, the center and forward positions are vital to success in his system.

Clemson makes a huge move in the transfer portal landing shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger
Clemson makes a huge move in the transfer portal landing shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger Clemson baseball has landed one of its first portal additions of the offseason. App State shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger has committed to the Tigers after making a visit to campus on Thursday, according to multiple sources. The standout freshman brings immediate impact potential after an impressive debut season in Boone. Lichtenberger was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2025, hitting .341 with 13 doubles, three home runs, two triples and 44 RBIs. He recorded 24 multi-hit games, reached base in 46 of 52 regular-season contests—including the first 34 games of the year—and also swiped seven bases in nine attempts. His 70 hits ranked among the top 10 in the conference. With Andrew Ciufo exhausting his eligibility, Clemson had a clear need at shortstop heading into next season. While incoming freshman Dax Kilby is a highly regarded option, there's a strong chance he's selected in July's MLB Draft, potentially opening the door for Lichtenberger to step into a starting role right away.
