Police officer among 17 hurt injured by flares
A police officer is among 17 people who were injured in incidents involving flares ahead of the bus parade. Chief Inspector of Merseyside Police Chris Barnes said they want people to enjoy the party atmosphere but urged fans not to use flares. The force said a quantity of flares were seized and also four drones that were being flown over Anfield in breach of a temporary air restrictions in place over the ground.
'We want everyone who attends today's victory parade to have a safe and enjoyable time,' Barnes said. 'Nobody should have to suffer an injury as a result of the reckless actions of another individual.
'We know that people want to enjoy the party atmosphere in the city but it is important that we think of everyone's safety and wellbeing. The parade will have its own professionally organised special effects, including confetti canons and fireworks, which will be adding to the fantastic atmosphere in a safe and controlled manner and my urge would be for people to leave it to the professionals.'

Time to celebrate
This is the moment Liverpool fans have been waiting for. Having missed out on the opportunity to celebrate winning the Premier League in 2020 due to Covid restrictions during the pandemic, the fans now have their chance to properly celebrate winning their 20th league title through the streets of Liverpool. In reality, the fans have been celebrating for a month already having wrapped up the title courtesy of a thumping 5-1 of Tottenham at Anfield at the end of April with four games to spare.
After yesterday's 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, captain Virgil van Dijk was handed the Premier League trophy by Liverpool great and former captain Alan Hansen, who was the last Liverpool captain to lift the league title in front of fans at Anfield, and lifted it aloft in front of a packed-out Anfield. When Liverpool won the league in 2020, then-captain Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy at a nearly-empty Anfield, with only family, close friends and media permitted to attend during the pandemic. It is just over a year ago that Liverpool said goodbye to Jurgen Klopp after nearly nine years under the German. 12 months later Liverpool are celebrating winning the Premier League in Arne Slot's debut season.
The route is 10 miles in length, which could take between three and five hours as the parade will wind around the streets of Liverpool. The parade will begin at Allerton Maze and travel north on Queens Drive before heading along Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street and The Strand before finishing on Blundell Street. In recent years Liverpool have had trophy parades along the same rout to celebrate winning the Champions League and the domestic cup double. In 2019, nearly a million people descended on the city centre after Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid in the Champions League final, which was the first trophy won under Slot's predecessor Klopp. Three years later in 2022, Liverpool paraded the League Cup and FA Cup, with a similar number of Liverpool fans congregating to have a party.
DJ Calvin Harris was on board the Liverpool bus back on 2022 so might we see him again this afternoon providing the tunes. The parade is set to begin at 2.30pm.

Garnacho shares cryptic post after Chelsea agree transfer deal with Man Utd star
Alejandro Garnacho has dropped the biggest hint yet that his proposed transfer move from Manchester United to Chelsea could be imminent. The 21-year-old has made it clear he wishes to leave Old Trafford this summer on the back of United's wretched season last term, in which the club finished with their lowest-ever points tally in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim's relationship with Garnacho is thought to be beyond repair and the Argentina international was left out of United's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States. Chelsea have been Garnacho's preference ever since they made their interest known around six months ago and discussions have been advancing at a pace between the two parties, with personal terms now agreed. However, the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with United over a transfer fee. It's understood the Red Devils are demanding £50million for the young attacker having initially asked for £70m in January. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. While negotiations are still ongoing, Garnacho took to Instagram on Sunday night to fuel speculation that his move to west London could be just around the corner. The forward shared a photograph which showed him looking somewhat pensive and introspective in a gym, along with a hourglass emoji which, perhaps understandably, has left many United fans unimpressed. Should Chelsea strike a deal with United, Garnacho would become the club's seventh signing of the summer – following Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr through the doors at Stamford Bridge. Garnacho still has three years remaining on his current contract at the Theatre of Dreams. Asked about Garnacho's future while in Chicago last week, United head coach Amorim told reporters: 'You can see he is talented, he's a really talented boy. 'But sometimes things don't work out. 'You cannot explain specifically what it is but I have the feeling it's clear Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. 'I can understand that. It is not a problem. Sometimes you adapt to one guy and have a connection, other times you want a new challenge. It's a natural thing in football.' Back in May, Garnacho threw his future into serious doubt by publicly questioning Amorim's decision to play him for 20 minutes in the side's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. 'Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know,' he said. 'The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. 'I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.' Garnacho's brother Roberto went a step further, accusing Amorim of throwing his sibling under the bus. 'Working as no-one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus,' he wrote on Instagram. Conor Coady confident Wrexham can cope with Championship spotlight
Conor Coady says Wrexham aim to 'upset and disrupt' Championship teams on their return to the second tier of English football. Wrexham marked their return to the level after a 43-year absence at Southampton on Saturday when a late Saints double condemned them to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat. Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were not present on the south coast to see Wrexham suffer, perhaps waiting until West Brom's visit to the SToK Racecourse on Saturday for their first taste of Championship action. There has been inordinate external noise around Wrexham due to their celebrity owners and three successive promotions taking them from the National League to the Championship in record time, but summer addition Coady insists Phil Parkinson's squad can handle the fierce spotlight. 'We're going to cope with it,' said Coady, the 32-year-old England international who was used to Premier League football at Wolves, Everton and Leicester. 'We know what we are. We know how we're going to play and we're here to upset and disrupt a few teams in this division. 'We'll keep on trying to do that. We've shown we can play. We'll keep building, we'll keep improving. 'We have to improve, we have to get better. That's the biggest thing.' Coady, one of seven players who made their Wrexham debuts at Southampton after heavy summer investment from Reynolds and McElhenney, admits to being shocked by huge interest in the Welsh club. The 32-year-old watched the friendly against Groningen in the Netherlands last week when 'the people there for Wrexham was unbelievable' and Ollie Palmer – a star of the 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary series – 'got mobbed'. Coady said: 'It's amazing to see where this club has gone. I have so much respect for what this club has done since the National League to get to this point. 'But we're at a point now where we don't just enjoy being here. We want to improve and mix ourselves with teams like this (Southampton). 'Maybe go higher, but to do that we have to make sure we're dominant at this level and get to that level as quick as we can. 'What we've got to do is take it one game at a time, but let's enjoy the ride. 'Let's not take anything away from it. Southampton were in the Premier League last season, Wrexham were in League One. 'So we're in a position now where we're fighting with these teams, showing we can play, and showing we've got an idea.' Wrexham play Championship rivals Hull at home in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Steve Parish admits Crystal Palace may have to sell Marc Guehi this summer
The Eagles came back to beat Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out and lift the Community Shield at Wembley. Palace's second piece of silverware in 86 days – after winning the FA Cup in May – was a welcome reprieve from their ongoing legal battle, with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) expected to rule on Monday whether they will play in the Europa League or Conference League this season. Marc Guehi lifts the Community Shield trophy (Adam Davy/PA) Guehi's contract expires at the end of this campaign and Sunday's opponents Liverpool are thought to be frontrunners to secure the signature of the 25-year-old England defender. 'Yes. I mean, we'd have to, of course,' said Parish, who is also co-owner, when asked if he would seriously entertain tempting bids for his skipper over the next three weeks. 'For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it's a problem. No doubt about it, unfortunately. 'We had one bid (last summer) but Joachim (Andersen) went (to Fulham) and we couldn't afford to lose both of them. We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation as well, and the player had a point of view on that one. 'So we just have to see what happens but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.' Guehi, suffering from cramp, came off late in second-half stoppage time at Wembley. It was his replacement, 21-year-old Northern Ireland international Justin Devenny, who ultimately fired home the winning penalty in the 3-2 shoot-out after the sides remained locked in a 2-2 stalemate at the end of normal time. Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish congratulates his players (Adam Davy/PA) Palace boss Oliver Glasner is adamant the Eagles need at least two more quality additions – even before any potential departures – while other top talent including Eberechi Eze, who has been linked to Arsenal, might also be lured away. 'I think in the end, people trade players. That's what football clubs do,' said Parish. 'If you just don't care about reinvigorating the team, you don't care about tomorrow, ever, you just put it all off. 'Then, we're a fantastic team, you know and if we had four more players, I don't know what we could achieve but unfortunately it's not always as simple as that.' Parish pointed to the 'crazy' and 'just nuts' fees for players and the club's outgoings this year. 'We'll have to see,' added the chairman. 'We'll do whatever we can. We won't stop working and we will do whatever we can. 'But as far as people being here or not being here, it depends. If it's the right decision for the football club and for them, nobody can make anyone go, then there will be some changes, but you've got to make smart ones.'
