Winner of the 'Biotherapies and Bioproduction' call for projects under the France 2030 plan, EVerZom receives €3 million in government funding to industrialize its exosome bioproduction technology
Winner of the 'Biotherapies and Bioproduction' call for projects under the France 2030 plan, EVerZom receives €3 million in government funding to industrialize its exosome bioproduction technology
Paris, June 17, 2025 – EVerZom, a French biopharmaceutical company pioneering exosome-based therapies for regenerative medicine applications, has announced it has received €3 million in funding as part of the France 2030 plan, through the 'Biotherapies and Bioproduction of Innovative Therapies' call for projects, operated by Bpifrance on behalf of the French government. This financial support will enable the company to accelerate the industrialization of its exosome bioproduction platform to develop its proprietary and co-developed drug candidates.
Accelerating the transition to late-stage clinical production and commercialization
This funding marks a key step in the company's industrial scale-up. It will notably allow for the scale-up of its exosome bioproduction technology in 50L GMP bioreactors, reaching a production level compatible with late-stage clinical phases and market launch.
'The French government 's support through the France 2030 'Biotherapies and Bioproduction' call is a strong recognition of our technology and industrial ambition. Thanks to this funding, we will secure a robust and scalable bioproduction process, which is essential to advance through late-stage clinical phases and prepare the market entry of our future proprietary or co-developed treatments,' said Jeanne Volatron, CEO of EVerZom.
Exosomes at the heart of the development of promising new biotherapies
Exosomes are tiny biological vesicles (30 to 150 nanometers) naturally secreted by cells. They play a key role in intercellular communication, transporting proteins, messenger RNAs, and other functional biomolecules between cells.
EVerZom leverages exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells, known for their regenerative and immunomodulatory properties. Compared to the cells themselves, exosomes offer numerous advantages: increased stability, reduced variability, enhanced patient safety, and simplified logistics (direct hospital storage and immediate availability).
EVerGel, EVerZom's first drug candidate for Crohn's disease
EVerZom's flagship program, EVerGel, combines exosomes with an innovative hydrogel biomaterial, enabling prolonged release at the site of complex perianal fistulas—a debilitating condition associated with Crohn's disease that affects nearly 2 million patients worldwide. Initial preclinical results are highly promising: in a porcine model close to the human condition, EVerGel achieved complete healing in 87.5% of cases after 4 weeks, compared to just 12.5% in the control group.
Thanks to these results, the drug candidate could enter clinical trials as early as 2026, with a target commercialization date for 2030.
High potential far beyond the targeted indications
Ultimately, the potential of exosome therapies to regenerate tissue and modulate inflammatory processes opens the door to new applications in a variety of fields, including neurodegenerative diseases, age-related disorders, and regenerative cosmetics. In this context, EVerZom has established around twenty global partnerships with players in human health, animal health, and cosmetics.

A successful partnership to deliver 1,000 affordable housing units across the province
QUÉBEC, June 17, 2025 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec, together with Desjardins, have announced the construction of 1,000 new affordable housing units over the next three years. These housing units will be created as part of the Desjardins Affordable Housing Initiative, a partnership launched in 2022 that will now enable the delivery of over 3,000 affordable housing units by 2028. Funding for these 1,000 new units totals nearly $184 million. This funding comes in part from the $900 million in federal funding provided to Quebec through the Canada-Quebec Agreement under the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), as well as from the additional $900 million in funding announced by Quebec in its fall 2023 economic update. For its part, Desjardins is committed to granting community developers nearly $50 million in mortgage financing or patient capital. With its one-stop-shop model and extensive network of Desjardins caisses and business centers, Desjardins is able to support housing cooperatives, community organizations, and municipal stakeholders in identifying and qualifying projects to accelerate the creation of affordable housing. Concrete results on the ground As of May 31, 2025, nine buildings, totaling 1,198 housing units, were already welcoming tenants, and an additional 908 units were under construction. The projects are spread across 14 regions of Quebec. Global oil demand to dip in 2030, first drop since Covid: IEA
Global oil demand will fall slightly in 2030, its first drop since the 2020 Covid pandemic, the International Energy Agency said Tuesday. In an annual outlook for the oil market, the Paris-based agency cited sluggish economic growth, global trade tensions, the rise of electric cars and the shift away from crude to produce power. Annual demand growth will slow from around 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2025 and 2026 "to just a trickle over the next several years, with a small decline expected in 2030", the IEA said. Total demand is forecast to reach 105.5 million bpd in 2030 after peaking at 105.6 million bpd in 2029. Oil demand dropped dramatically in 2020, when countries locked down and shut their borders during the Covid pandemic, falling to 91.7 million bpd before steadily growing again in the following years. Demand in the world's top consumer, the United States, is expected to peak this year and start to decline in 2026 while consumption in China, the top importer of crude, will fall from 2028, according to the "Oil 2025" report. Demand in the Middle East will also peak in 2027 and decline the following year. Saudi Arabia will post the "single largest decline in oil demand for any country" in absolute terms through 2030 as the kingdom replaces crude with gas and renewable energy to produce power, the IEA said. - US and Saudis to lead output - The report comes as oil prices have surged since Israel launched air strikes against Iran last week, prompting Tehran to fire missiles back at its arch foe. The price increases "are not driven by the fundamentals", IEA executive director Fatih Birol said in a news conference. "We have a lot of supply oil in the market. Demand is much weaker than the supply." "We don't expect high oil prices to be with us for a very long time," Birol said, adding that the IEA stood ready to act if there are any supply disruptions. While the conflict "focuses attention on immediate energy security risks", the IEA said oil supply growth will "far outpace" the increase in demand in coming years. World oil production capacity is forecast to rise by 5.1 million bpd -- double the pace of demand -- to 114.7 million bpd by 2030, the report found. "Combined, Saudi Arabia and the United States will contribute 40 percent to total global oil capacity growth in the forecast period," it said. nal-lth/cw Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data

UK Finance reports rise in SME lending by high street banks
Business lending by high street banks in the UK increased to £4.6bn ($6.2bn) in the first quarter of 2025, according to UK Finance's latest Business Finance Review. This marks the sixth consecutive quarterly rise and the highest amount since the second quarter of 2022, driven largely by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The report highlights a 14% year-on-year increase in lending, with agriculture, manufacturing, wholesale and retail, and health sectors leading the growth. Lending to the smallest businesses, with an annual turnover of up to £2m, surged nearly 30% year-on-year, while lending to medium-sized businesses rose by 9%. Loan and overdraft approvals also saw growth. The number of new loans and overdrafts approved increased by 37% and 8%, respectively, in comparison with the same period last year. Although the number of finance approvals rose across almost all sectors, the value of approvals was lower than the previous year, UK Finance said. It added that the SMEs have a 'reasonable degree of headroom' within their existing finance facilities, with utilisation rates remaining steady at around 50%. It suggests that the demand for new or increased facilities is a precautionary measure against rising costs and pressure on margins. The data for this review was provided by several institutions, including Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC Bank, NatWest Group, Santander UK, and Virgin Money. In Northern Ireland, contributors included Bank of Ireland, Danske Bank, First Trust, and Ulster Bank, along with the SME business of Barclays, HSBC Bank, NatWest, and Santander UK. UK Finance managing director of commercial finance David Raw said: 'SMEs are a vital part of the UK economy, and it is encouraging that lending to them continues to go up. It is particularly welcome to see small businesses specifically accessing greater levels of finance than this time last year. 'The regulatory environment is important, and that is why we think the government should make the Growth Guarantee Scheme permanent and increase the size of the scheme's budget. This would help support even more SME lending. 'Banks have finance available for SMEs, enabling them to invest and grow. The industry will continue to work with businesses, government and regulators to support both the supply and demand of finance, driving economic growth.' Earlier this month, a study by specialist SME lender Shawbrook revealed that 71% of SMEs experienced growth in the past year, with 21% reporting significant growth. This is a notable increase from 2024, when only 46% of SMEs reported growth and 13% experienced significant expansion. "UK Finance reports rise in SME lending by high street banks" was originally created and published by Leasing Life, a GlobalData owned brand.
