Delaware County mourns loss of volunteer firefighter who died in motorcycle crash in Chester, Pennsylvania
Outside the firehouse, Wilson's name has been added to a memorial display honoring his service. Family members say firefighting was his lifelong dream.
"He just wanted to be able to help and support his community," Matt Wilson Jr., Jack's brother, said. "He was so happy to get into his first firehouse. He ended up being at four different ones in five to six years."
Wilson also shared a deep love of motorcycles, following in the footsteps of his dad, older brother and uncles.
"We put him on his first bike at a year old. Gave him a taste of the Harley-Davidson life at a young age," Matt Wilson Sr., Jack's father, said.
"His song was 'Born to Be Wild.' He had a little motorcycle that played it, and he'd play it over and over," Kayla Wilson, Jack's sister, said.
Chester Police say Wilson died just four minutes from home after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle at the intersection of West 22nd and Wetherill streets in Chester. The driver involved is cooperating with the investigation, and chemical test results are pending.
Within 24 hours of the crash, hundreds of motorcyclists and fellow firefighters from across Delaware County gathered for a candlelight vigil and procession in Wilson's honor.
"It's overwhelming," Matt Wilson Sr. said. "I think my son is just this guy living his life ... then he dies and it's just love and compassion from everybody."
"He was a fun spirit, and he wanted to help and be loved and love everyone else," Matt Wilson Jr. said.
"He created a life that he loved, the people in it loved him, they were proud of him, he was proud of himself," Kayla Wilson said.
In light of the outpouring of support, the Wilson family expects close to 1,000 people to attend Jack's funeral on Friday. A five-mile celebration of life ride is scheduled for Saturday.

U.S. Marshals arrest 3rd suspect in murder of Philadelphia rapper LGP QUA
A third suspect in the murder of Philadelphia rapper LGP QUA was taken into custody Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia announced. Amir Earley, 22, was arrested on the 3000 block of Reach Street in Northeast Philadelphia, according to a post from the Marshals Service on X. Earley had been wanted since May in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Qidere Johnson, who used the stage name LGP QUA. Police said Johnson was shot in what may have been a robbery on May 11, 2025 — Mother's Day — near the corner of M and East Luzerne streets in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia. Joshua Thomas-Coleman and Abdul Boyd, both 19, were previously arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy and robbery. Boyd and Earley are also facing gun charges and other offenses. Earley is facing the same set of charges and had a preliminary arraignment early Friday morning, according to court records. He was denied bail and remanded to a city jail. After spending time in prison in his early 20s, Johnson got out and earned national attention for his rapping, including a song in 2017 about Meek Mill's imprisonment on a parole violation. He met Snoop Dogg the following year and was given some words of inspiration — "@snoopdogg told me he love the positivity and influence I'm spreading on the youth," Johnson said on social media in 2018. He even collaborated with Nicknamed "the voice of the youth," he preached a more positive message and railed against violence in his lyrics. "With all this violence and all this drill music, we got a youth, we got a younger guy over here that's willing to talk about positivity with that same passion, that same aggression," community activist Ameer Barber told CBS News Philadelphia in May. Snoop Dogg and Meek Mill publicly mourned the Philly rapper after the news of the shooting broke. "Killing ambitious young bulls like this on Mother's Day is a Philly type of thing," Meek Mill said on social media after LGP QUA was killed. LGP QUA was also known for community giveaways, and once earned a citation from City Council for giving away nearly 1,000 pairs of sneakers to Philly kids. His Instagram page also features videos of him in Kensington, giving out hot coffee and backpacks. CBS News Philadelphia spoke to LGP QUA in 2019 for a feature on his blossoming music career, and he offered advice to people growing up: "Be you. Be different. Stand out. Don't be like a crowd," he said.

Man dies after 'falling from building' at MediaCity
A man has died after reportedly falling from a building at Salford Quays. Emergency services rushed to MediaCityUK earlier this afternoon (Friday) following the tragic incident at around 12:15pm. Police blocked off a road called Blue, which runs from Broadway into the centre of the MediaCity complex.
