Aditya Roy Kapur Says He Doesn't Read Online Buzz About Him: ‘Ignorance Is Bliss'

News182 days ago
Aditya Roy Kapur admits his looks overshadow his work but trusts consistent roles will prove his talent.
Aditya Roy Kapur has always chosen diverse roles in his career. From the romantic drama Aashiqui 2 and action-packed Malang to his layered performance in The Night Manager and his recent outing in Metro… In Dino, the actor has consistently worked across genres. Yet, despite this body of work, the conversation around him often seems dominated by his physical appearance rather than his acting skills.
The actor admits this observation isn't entirely wrong. 'I guess I do get that," he told the Hindustan Times when asked whether his looks overshadow his performances. However, he doesn't dwell on it. 'I don't try and think about that or lose too much sleep over it. Eventually, water finds its level, and the more work you do, that'll come to the fore."
Aditya Roy Kapur On Getting Attention For His Looks
Instead of allowing this perception to frustrate him, Aditya consciously chooses to see the silver lining. He believes that if people are praising something about him, even if it's just his appearance, it's still better than being on the receiving end of negativity.
'Eventually the work speaks for itself," he shared, emphasising that over time, consistent performances will make people recognise an actor's worth. The Ludo actor admits he doesn't disagree with the idea that his looks often get more attention, but says, 'I don't fixate on it or allow myself to get cynical or negative about it." This, he feels, keeps him grounded and focused on the bigger picture.
Social Media Isn't His Focus
The entertainment industry has undergone a seismic shift with the rise of social media. Aditya acknowledges that things are very different from when he first started. 'Things have changed a lot actually in the last 10-15 years," he said, adding that social media has become an inseparable part of the profession.
Still, he admits he's 'an amateur" at navigating it and prefers to keep a healthy distance. 'A lot of it is just about disconnecting from a lot of the noise," he explained. Aditya avoids reading too much about himself online, believing that sometimes 'ignorance is bliss." For him, mental clarity is about controlling what you consume. 'You can choose how much you want to clutter your head or declutter your head," he said, stressing the importance of knowing what information benefits you and what doesn't.
For Aditya, the real magic lies away from the glitz and chatter of social media. 'As an actor, the part of the job that I love the most is collaborating on set, working on my character, or just being on set and doing that work," he revealed. That core experience is what drives him, while the rest of the industry's noise is something he tries to simplify in his mind by disconnecting when necessary.
Balancing The Big Screen And OTT
Aditya's career today straddles both traditional cinema and digital streaming platforms. While Aashiqui 2 cemented him as a romantic hero and Malang showcased his action chops, The Night Manager allowed him to shine in the digital space with a performance that earned widespread praise. His recent appearance in Metro… In Dino is another step in a journey that blends mainstream appeal with nuanced roles.
Whether on the big screen or a streaming platform, Aditya aims for one thing: to let his work speak louder than any label or public perception.

Yash Soni starrer road trip drama 'Mithada Maheman' to premiere on August 14

Mumbai: Emotionally layered Gujarati drama "Mithada Maheman" is set for a digital world premiere on ShemarooMe on August 14, coinciding with Independence Day weekend. Helmed by Chinmay Parmar, "Mithada Maheman" shares the tale of four individuals who end up crossing paths by the hand of fate. Their lives are transformed through kindness, empathy, and acceptance of one another. The show focuses on Aditya (Played by Yash Soni), a young man fighting his own emotional battles. As he is on the verge of giving up on everything, he meets Hari (Played by Mihir Nishith Rajda), a warm-hearted taxi driver who takes him on an unplanned road trip, which eventually becomes his ultimate path to healing. Aditya and Hari are soon joined by two others —Komal (Played by Aarohi Patel), whose grounded presence provides emotional clarity, and Jay (Played by Mitra Gadhavi), whose humour masks a quieter pain. Travelling through hill stations, highways, and tea stalls, these four undergo a steady emotional transformation. Shedding light on his role, Yash shared: 'Aditya isn't a loud or dramatic character; his pain is internal and hard to explain. That's what made him feel so real to me. Playing this role reminded me that sometimes we don't need to fix people, we just need to sit with them, without judgment." He shared that "Mithada Maheman" is about those silent moments of understanding and small acts of care. "I'm grateful to be part of a film that approaches such a delicate subject with honesty and warmth. I believe a lot of people will see themselves in Aditya, or in the people who walk beside him on this journey," Yash added. The drama talks about the uncomfortable truth that sometimes, it's not family, but strangers who see you most clearly. "Mithada Maheman" is expected to premiere on ShemarooMe from 14th August this year.

'He will always be our Rocky Bhai': KGF producers dismiss 'incorrect' reports claiming Yash wasn't first choice for film

Hombale Films has reacted to recent reports that Kannada star Yash was not the first choice for the lead role in their super successful KGF film franchise. The studio issued a statement after multiple reports claimed this. Yash plays Rocky Bhai in Prashanth Neel's hugely successful KGF films. Hombale Films issues statement The production house is now setting the record straight. In a statement to Hindustan Times, it states, 'We have a long-standing partnership with Yash, longer than with any other actor we are currently working with. Moreover, Yash is part of our family. KGF was envisioned with Yash in mind, and for us, he will always be our Rocky Bhai. We were always in touch with several other actors pan-India for different key roles in KGF 1. Any reports or rumours claiming that Yash was not the first choice for KGF are incorrect. We have not made any such comments.' What was originally said Last week, in an interview with HT, Hombale Films' co-founder Chaluve Gowda had remarked how the success of their films like KGF and Kantara had led to a rise in visibility of Kannada films. He said that whenever they approached actors from outside Karnataka for their films, they were met with rude dismissals. 'We went to a big star for KGF years ago. They asked, 'Where do these Kannada films even run?' At that time, not many people knew about Kannada films outside of Karnataka. They knew a few names, like Dr Rajkumar. But that was it. That has definitely changed now,' Gowda had said. While Gowda never said that the offer was for the lead role in KGF, and HT's own article never implied it either, several other reports and social media accounts reported it with that angle. About the KGF films KGF Chapter 1, starring Yash, released in 2018, and became Kannada cinema's biggest hit, grossing ₹250 crore. It was eclipsed by its all-time blockbuster sequel - KGF Chapter 3 - which grossed a phenomenal ₹1250 crore. Both films were directed by Prasanth Neel and produced by Hombale Films. The production house has since given big hits like Kantara, Salaar, and Mahavatar Narsimha.
