All bodies from FCCI platform reject new tax laws
FAISALABAD: All business, trade and industrial organisations from the platform of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) have rejected the new tax laws (amended) ordinance 2025 and announced that high government officials would be apprised of the concerns of the business community.
Rehan Naseem Bharara, President FCCI reacted to this ordinance and said that 'dialogue is the only way to settle differences peacefully between government and business community.' However, he stressed the need for complete unity among the ranks and files of the business community to pressurize the government to withdraw this ordinance.
He said that as the economy starts to take off, such disputed steps are taken to further aggravate the situation. He said that on one side the government was introducing digitalization and a faceless system to minimize the direct interaction between the taxpayers and tax collectors while on the other side this ordinance has been enforced to deploy the government officials at the business places.
He said the business community was not taken into confidence about this ordinance and hence it may fail to give the desired results. He demanded that a committee comprising the government officials and business leaders may be constituted to review this ordinance.
He said the business community was appreciative of the government policies which have stabilised the economy as policy rate and inflation has been brought down. 'Similarly, exports and foreign remittances have increased and in this improved situation, we were expecting four percent cut in the policy rate but only one percent decrease has been made.'

Italy's national day: SAPM attends celebrations
ISLAMABAD: Fahd Haroon, Minister of State/Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media, attended the celebration marking the National Day of the Italian Republic this evening at the Embassy of Italy in Islamabad. The event, hosted by H.E. Marilina Armellin, Italy's Ambassador to Pakistan, brought together senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the cultural and media communities. Haroon extended warm greetings to the people and government of Italy on the occasion of Festa della Repubblica, which commemorates the founding of the Italian Republic on June 2, 1946. NCCIA busts int'l child abuse gang
ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has busted an international child exploitation gang in Muzaffargarh allegedly led by a German citizen, said State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Tuesday. Addressing at a press conference flanked by the Director General (DG) NCCIA Waqar Uddin Syed, the minister said that the gang was involved in the child sexual exploitation aged between 6 to 10 years old. This gang was involved in blackmailing children, especially those hailing from a poor community and uploading explicit videos of minors to the dark web, he said. The minister stated that the gang had set up a state-of-the-art fighting club, targeting young children, from which 10 minors have been rescued so far. Six of these children have already been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau for rehabilitation, he said, adding that the German national was the ringleader of the gang. Chaudhry said that, unfortunately, some parents are also found involved in these inhuman activities. 'In the club, the exploiters have installed modern gadgets and cameras for making videos of children,' he said, adding that NCCIA had conducted five-hour-long operations for busting the gang. He said that NCCIA has arrested two suspects, and three accused are still at large. The DG NCCIA said that the special branch Punjab had informed the agency about a foreign national frequently visiting a village in Muzaffargarh. Upon investigation, it was discovered that children were being filmed in an organised manner, he said, adding that a highly professional setup had been established, complete with modern cameras and lighting systems, to record these videos.
