Popular San Francisco coffee chain closes location
(KRON) – A popular San Francisco coffee chain is closing a location that has been around for nearly a decade.
Ritual Coffee Roasters is closing its Haight Street location the second week of April.
The coffee shop posted the news on its website, 'We are sad to share the news that we will be closing our Haight Street location. Our last day will be Friday, April 11th,' the coffee shop continued. 'We have loved being in the Haight for the past 9 years and have some of the best regulars a café could hope for!'
New Yemeni coffee shop heading to the East Bay
According to the coffee shop's website, Ritual Coffee says its customers and community are not involved in the reason for the closure. The cafe cites the 'confluence of the many factors of running a small business in a modern city' for the location's demise.
Ritual Coffee asks for patrons to support in its final days. 'Come enjoy a coffee, this pretty café, and the sweet view of the fog rising off Buena Vista Park, and be with us for the next few weeks,' said the coffee house.
Ritual Coffee has been in business for two decades. The cafe has four other locations, including one in SFO airport.

Local hot pot chain opens outpost at San Jose mall, its sixth Bay Area location
(KRON) — A rising Bay Area hot pot chain opened its newest location this week in San Jose. East Bay-founded Mumu Hot Pot opened Monday, June 2 at the Westfield Oakridge mall in San Jose, the business announced in a press release. Mumu Hot Pot is located next to the BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse on the southwest exterior of the mall. It joins the list of 30 eateries at Westfield Oakridge located at 925 Blossom Hill Road. There are more than 200 customers who can be seated inside the restaurant, according to the release. Serial shoplifter robbed same store 16 straight times: SFPD
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A serial shoplifter accused of robbing the same store 16 times between October of last year to May 2025 was nabbed by detectives, the San Francisco Police Department announced on Tuesday. Arrest in 'unprovoked' back-to-back assaults at SF Fort Mason Park SFPD said Neil Peck (aka Kevin Peck), 51, was arrested on May 25 for burglary and attempted grand theft at a retail store on the 700 block of Mission Street. Police said an 'astute' officer figured out that Peck was involved in dozens of other thefts at that same location and quickly alerted investigators. Police did not disclose the exact retail store. 'SFPD DART (Defend Against Retail Theft) investigators began investigating Peck for the prior theft incidents and determined that he was the suspect in 16 additional chargeable cases from October 7, 2024, to May 22, 2025,' said police. 'The total loss for the incidents totaled nearly $8,000.' Peck faces several felony and misdemeanor charges, including petty theft, commercial burglary, grand theft and shoplifting, said San Francisco police. Due to voters passing Proposition 36 in December 2024, Peck's petty theft crimes can be charged as misdemeanors or felony since he has several prior theft convictions, SFPD confirmed. Wine theft led to felony charge under Prop 36 Despite an arrest in the case, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with 'SFPD.' Long lines pack outside of beloved Antioch steakhouse closing after 42 years
(KRON) — The end is near for a beloved steakhouse in Antioch that has served the greater East Bay community for decades. After 42 years, Mac's Old House is having its last day of business on Sunday, June 22, which was announced by the restaurant back in April. As the last day gets closer, it seems more and more customers are lining up to get a taste of Mac's Old House one last time. KRON4 visited the establishment on Sunday, and it was at full capacity with long lines that went across the block. The long lines tell the story of how much Mac's Old House has meant to the Antioch community since first opening in 1983. Support from its customers allowed Mac's Old House to survive recessions and a global pandemic for more than four decades, Mac's Old House writes on its website. In today's age of mostly digitized payments, Mac's Old House has remained a cash-only establishment. The restaurant, located at 3100 E 18th St., might be best known for its consumer-friendly deals — especially for the prime rib. A prime rib starts at $17.95, and a pasta dinner is listed at $9.95. Hoping someone will purchase and keep the legacy alive!! I'll be making a trip from Montana to have one more of my favorite meals,' another Facebook comment reads. The good news? Mac's Old House says, 'there is still hope for the future.' The business did not rule out the possibility of staying open under new ownership and management. The restaurant and property are up for sale. Mac's Old House is open every day from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. The restaurant does not take reservations and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
