Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood clinch Ryder Cup spots
With their performances at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday, England's Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood clinched spots on Team Europe for the Ryder Cup next month against the United States. HT Image Rose, who won the $20 million tournament in Memphis in a playoff, and Fleetwood, who struggled down the stretch to finish one shot off the pace, earned enough points to join Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy as automatic qualifiers for the competition on Sept. 26-28 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. Team Europe captain Luke Donald is required to select the top six players in the Europe Team Rankings when the British Masters concludes on Aug. 24. Donald gets to choose the other six golfers to round out his team, which will defend the Cup it won in 2023 in Italy. "Amazing to have both of these guys back on the Team," Donald wrote on X above a Ryder Cup Europe post on Rose and Fleetwood making the team. "They bring so much both on and off the course. Let's Go!" Scotland's Robert MacIntyre, England's Tyrrell Hatton and Austria's Sepp Straka hold fourth through sixth place heading into this week's play. MacIntyre will be part of the BMW Championship field at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Straka, however, withdrew from the $20 million tournament on Monday for family reasons. Hatton will be playing the LIV Tour event in Indianapolis, where he can not collect points. Ireland's Shane Lowry, Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard and Sweden's Ludvig Aberg are within striking range of being automatic qualifiers. Lowry trails Straka for sixth by just 21.16 points. As long as Lowry completes the BMW Championship this weekend, he'll earn enough points to climb past Hatton and Straka. Competitors at the BMW Championship receive 1.5 points for each $1,000 they earn. --Field Level Media

Ryder Cup: J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele clinch U.S. team spots
Three of the six automatic qualifying spots for the U.S. Ryder Cup team have now been filled, with J.J. Spaun and Xander Schauffele joining Scottie Scheffler on captain Keegan Bradley's roster. Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English enter the final week of automatic qualifying on Monday in the Nos. 4-6 spots, respectively, in the U.S. rankings. The top six after this week's BMW Championship will represent Team USA against Team Europe at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., from Sept. 26-28. The squad will have six additional captain's picks, with Bradley potentially competing as a playing captain. ALSO READ | Fleetwood to join McIlroy at DP World India Championship in New Delhi Spaun secured his spot with a runner-up finish Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, where he lost to England's Justin Rose in a playoff. The 2025 U.S. Open champion is up to No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking after starting the year outside the top 100. Schauffele, who has made 70 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, finished T22 on Sunay to mathematically clinch his spot. Scheffler finished T3 on Sunday but has long been a lock for the squad with wins at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship this year, along with victories at the Memorial and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Russell Henley has 11,904.82 Ryder Cup rankings points, followed by DeChambeau (10,774.98), English (10,439.55) and Justin Thomas (10,347.59). Players gain one point per $1,000 earned at each non-major PGA TOUR event and gain 1.5 points per $1,000 earned at major championships. The BMW Championship, with a $20 million purse, opens Thursday at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. DeChambeau, who competes with LIV Golf, has no chance to earn additional points this week. However, Bradley said last month that there would be a spot on the team for the two-time U.S. Open champion whether he stays in the top six or not.

Coolie Advance Booking: Rajinikanth Sells 13.5K Hindi Tickets, Targets Rs 140 Cr Day 1
Last Updated: Rajinikanth's Coolie sells 13,500 Hindi tickets two days before release, aiming for Rs 140 crore global day one and a Rs 400 crore extended weekend. Rajinikanth's upcoming mega release Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is gathering steam at the box office in both southern and northern territories. Already enjoying massive pre-release hype in Tamil Nadu and other southern states, the action entertainer is now making its presence felt in the Hindi belt. Coolie Hindi Advance Booking Crosses 13,500, Sets Stage for Rs 140 Crore Day 1 As of 11:30 pm on August 11, Coolie had sold 13,500 tickets in top Hindi cinema chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for its opening day. Trade analysts expect this figure to rise to nearly 50,000 tickets by release day, translating to a Hindi box office debut above Rs 6 crore. This is especially notable given its face-off with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2. Rajinikanth Eyes Massive Comeback, Lokesh Kanagaraj Targets Records Scheduled to release on August 14, Coolie is being positioned as a 'dormant volcano" ready to erupt globally. Presales across all languages are exceptional, with industry insiders predicting an opening day close to Rs 140 crore worldwide. The film is also tipped to challenge Leo's record for the biggest-ever Kollywood opener—a contest that could become one of the most talked-about box office battles in recent years. Rajinikanth, last seen in Vettaiyan, is aiming for a spectacular comeback, while Lokesh Kanagaraj continues his streak of delivering ever-bigger hits. Remarkably, he has maintained a two-year gap between major releases, with Leo arriving in October 2023 and Coolie now hitting screens just 22 months later. If audience reception matches early expectations, the global extended weekend total for Coolie could touch Rs 400 crore. Strong word of mouth could even propel it past 2.0, making it the highest-grossing Kollywood film in history. With a star-studded ensemble including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan, Coolie promises high-octane action, mass entertainment, and the kind of theatrical experience Rajinikanth fans have been waiting for.
